Lorens Charastrut, paroissien de Marsat, âgé de 80 ans, accusé de sorcellerie par le procureur de Mozac, confesse à Jehan Panyot, châtelain de Mozac, plusieurs crimes perpétrés sous l’influence d’un diable nommé « Belzébuth » lui étant apparu à plusieurs reprises lors du sabbat sous l’aspect d’une idole, d’un ours ou encore d’un serpent. Le texte contient une description très précise du déroulement du sabbat.

The aim of this work is to bring the light on a topic that generally was, and partly still is, ignored: literary translation. This activity is extremely complicated because it deals with the culture behind texts. As a matter of fact, it seems to be very intricate to render the extratextual meanings and references of a book: many shades of the sense could be misunderstood by a reader if he or she is not from the same country as the author. Translators' mission is to reduce these losses or misinterpretations using different techniques, depending on the level of fidelity to the authentic text, which will be illustrated below. Moreover, translators feel always in balance between the original book, that is the embodiment of the author's opinion and style, and their own voice. It is a common belief that, to obtain a good translation, they must abolish their method of writing in order to respect the writer's approach and become invisibles. This is probably the reason why currently translators are not well known, they are considered writers' shadows and their works are merely seen as copies. In any case, recently the situation has slowly changed and, for example, nowadays it is more frequent to find translators' names on the covers of books. In this work, after a detailed description of what fantasy genre is and how it has developed through the years, the analysis centred around the translation of this kind of publications and their diffusion. An important investigation is related to the remarkable spread of this type of books in Italy and additionally to the habitual prejudices connected to fantasy. Thereafter, the study focuses on Ursula K. Le Guin (1929-2018), an American writer who dedicated her life to support science fiction and fantasy novels. Moreover, she was a translator and an activist. In fact, all her books are extremely innovative because they deal with significant themes as feminism,

The Jacobean era's infamous witchcraft trials are recalled after reservoir repairs close to Pendle Hill reveal a buried cottage with bricked‐up cat. Interpretations of the building as the site of Malkin Tower, recorded in court records as the venue of a witches coven are critically evaluated in the light of archaeological and historical evidence.

Supernatural wizards with magical powers to heal the sick and who inhabit the minds and bodies of men, women, and children, as well as defend religion from the forces of evil: this is not the popular vision of Buddhism. But this is exactly what one finds in the Buddhist country of Myanmar, where the majority of people abide by Theravāda Buddhism—a form of Buddhism generally perceived as staid, lacking religious devotion and elements of the supernatural. Known as “weizzā,” the beliefs and practices associated with this religion have received little scholarly attention, especially when compared with research done on other aspects of Buddhism in Myanmar. Reasons for this are varied, but two stand out. Firstly, because such phenomena have been labeled by scholars and Buddhists alike as “popular” and “syncretic” forms of religion, scholars of Buddhism in Myanmar have tended to focus their research on aspects of Buddhism considered orthodox and normative, such as vipassana and abhidhamma. Secondly, the academic study of religion has been slow to develop new interpretive strategies for studying religious phenomena that do not readily fit existing categories of what constitutes “religion.”

These two dilemmas will be confronted by introducing and employing the framework of “lived religion” to examine the religious lives of those who engage the world of Buddhist wizards, as well as the experiences these individuals consider central to their lives—along with the varied rituals that make up their personal religious expressions. The reader is invited to think of religion dynamically, reconsidering the landscape of Myanmar religion in terms of practices linked to specific social contexts. After delineating a genealogy of scholarly approaches to the study of Buddhism-as-lived and the ways in which scholars have constituted the subject of their studies, the article will examine aspects of Myanmar religious life from the perspectives of those whose experiences are often misrepresented or ignored entirely, not only in Western academic works on religion but also in Myanmar historical monographs and other written, oral, and pictorial sources. In addition to increasing our understanding of the lived religious experiences and practices of the weizzā and their devotees, this approach to religious studies also enriches our investigation of the complex interrelationship between these experiences and practices and the wider social world they are enacted in. Acknowledging that any lens we study religion through offers only a partial truth, an improved religious studies approach to the weizzā and similar phenomena can get closer to the truths that people make in their own lives: thus, moving further from the contested boundaries that scholars and practitioners of religion place on religious worlds.

Consideration is given to how elements of the occult: witchcraft, magic and sorcery may be identified in the archaeological record. Working definitions of occult terminology are established before proceeding to propose a new approach, which triangulates data from historic and folkloric sources with archaeological evidence, to establish contextual narratives that stand for the past. Excavation of an occult ritual site at Barway, Cambridgeshire is presented to demonstrate how the approach works in practice. Archaeological evidence, combined with local folklore and historic accounts of spells and sorcery, identify the site as the locus of occult activity performed by cunning folk, or ‘white’ witches, during the seventeenth-century.

Wizards and magic have throughout history played a significant role within literature. While it is obvious that wizards can produce fantastic feats of power, their primary function is not always to conjure magic. The defining characteristic of wizards is displayed through the use of intellectual gifts in order to achieve their goals. This thesis investigates
such differences of intellect found between two wizards of modern literature, Gandalf from Tolkien‘s The Lord of the Rings and Harry Dresden from Butcher‘s The Dresden Files.
Using information found in Tolkien’s Unfinished Tales as well as relevant passages from Butcher’s novels, this thesis provides explanations regarding the two wizards’ respective origin in order to establish how they came by their magical abilities, and moreover, investigates whether or not they can be considered fully, or at all, human.
It further explores the respective worlds in which the two wizards reside and will show that there is a significant difference in how morality is presented within their storylines. It posits that Middle-earth does not portray the prevalent moral ambiguity that is present within the Dresdenverse.
Finally, it addresses a popular culture trope known as “manpain” and establishes its relevance to the two wizards, using the pertinent characteristics of each wizard in order to analyze whether or not the characters can be said to be manpained.

“Be-Witched shadows: approaching Greek Shadow Theatre’s Witches, inspired by Fairy tales”

It is widely accepted that Fairy Tales is a basic theme source of Modern Greek (glove & string) Puppet Theatre. However, the relation between Fairy Tales and Greek Shadow (Puppet) Theatre (Karaghiozis) has not yet been thoroughly examined, mostly due to lack of authentic Shadow Theatre’s texts.
As researching, it becomes clear that Greek Shadow Theatre has not only drawn inspiration from History, Theatre, Traditional Puppet Theatre (Fasoulis), Popular Literature, Everyday events, but from Children’s Literature, as well. Such influences can be recognized in thematic field (e.g. “Genovefa”), but in choosing heroes, as well. A closer look reveals that witches tend to be the most popular heroines, transferred from Children Books’ pages to Shadow Theatre screens. 
Based on bibliography, oral testimonies and (un)published plays lying in state and private collections, we shall present a registration of shadow theatre plays with casts, enriched by witches. Key questions like “when”, “how”, “why”, “how often”, shall be submitted for reply, broadening the horizons of future research.

This is a collection of poems whose focus is on activities of wizardry as practiced in different parts of the world, despite the thematic title  that captures the Nile, for specific reasons to be explained later. It is about the horrendous situation and horrific nightmares undergone and experienced by the victims of sorcery as well as how unpropitious magical powers can manipulate  people as 'properties' mentally possessed.

Negotiation is a critical activity that encompasses all stages of the virtual organization (VO) creation process. Particularly, negotiations are needed during the selection of partners, determination of their roles and task allocation, definition of the operating conditions of the VO, etc. A synthesis of the results of the negotiation activity can be represented by an agreement among the partners that will participate in the VO. In order to reach such agreement, a negotiation wizard is proposed. Assisted by this wizard, users will be able to access an environment which allows them to negotiate the specific topics of the new VO, either in a safe bilateral way or in a multiparty context. In a simplified perspective, the virtual organization (VO) creation process can be considered structured into three main phases (L. M. Camarinha-Matos et al., 2005): Preparatory Planning: Process of identification and characterization of the Collaboration Opportunity (CO) and draft planning of the VO to fulfill the CO needs; Consortia Formation: In order to get the proper set of partners (competences / capacities / services) for the new VO, a process of partners' search and selection and its corresponding negotiation is then needed; VO Launching: To finalize the VO creation, it is necessary to refine the VO plan and its governance principles, to formulate and model contracts and agreements and to put the VO into operation.

This article discusses the use of online teaching assistants or "course wizards," employed at Mercy College not only to tutor students who are experiencing difficulty but also to facilitate discussion and to model the role of a successful student. It begins with a brief summary of the vocation of tutor as it has changed and developed from ancient times to the present. It continues with a discussion of the current crisis in higher education in America and of how online education brings new possibilities and challenges. Wizards not only help students who are at risk but also facilitate discussion and, most importantly, model the role of a successful student.
