About this audiobook
“Absolutely charming... a flawless balance of humor, heat, sweetness, and depth, and I loved every page.” – Helen Hoang, USA Today bestselling author of The Bride Test
Talia Hibbert, one of contemporary romance’s brightest new stars, delivers a witty, hilarious romantic comedy about a woman who’s tired of being “boring” and recruits her mysterious, sexy neighbor to help her experience new things—perfect for fans of Sally Thorne, Jasmine Guillory, and Helen Hoang!
Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion. The next items?
- Enjoy a drunken night out.
- Ride a motorcycle.
- Go camping.
- Have meaningless but thoroughly enjoyable sex.
- Travel the world with nothing but hand luggage.
- And... do something bad.
But it’s not easy being bad, even when you’ve written step-by-step guidelines on how to do it correctly. What Chloe needs is a teacher, and she knows just the man for the job.
Redford ‘Red’ Morgan is a handyman with tattoos, a motorcycle, and more sex appeal than ten-thousand Hollywood heartthrobs. He’s also an artist who paints at night and hides his work in the light of day, which Chloe knows because she spies on him occasionally. Just the teeniest, tiniest bit.
But when she enlists Red in her mission to rebel, she learns things about him that no spy session could teach her. Like why he clearly resents Chloe’s wealthy background. And why he never shows his art to anyone. And what really lies beneath his rough exterior…

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a mixed bag. Many enjoyed the romance and humor, finding the characters relatable and the story engaging. The narration received mixed reviews, with some finding it enjoyable and others finding it annoying. However, there were a few negative reviews that criticized the writing style and immature portrayal of adult scenes. Overall, this book is recommended for those looking for a light and spicy summer read, but it may be better to read the physical copy rather than listen to the audiobook.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5it made me cringe too much, especially how the “adult” scenes were written, it felt immature to me. especially the main characters, they were both annoying. i also didn’t enjoy the narration… it added to the cringe.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I liked the book in general. The story was good but the voice of the narrator was brutal to listen to. She didn’t know how to do distinct voices without making them shrill and it was just annoying. Good book, poor narration.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This a cute novel. I must admit that my first attempt at listening to this book was not successful. But I am so glad that I gave the book a second try. Chloe and Red's story incredibly romantic and sweet.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One word:UNEXPECTED! I really like Chloe for Red, cuties. I loved that the least talked about gender when it comes to abuse was discussed here. I loved the vulnerability of Red. You shouldn’t be ashamed of talking about a past relationship that was horrible.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am so jealous of how talented Talia Hibbert is. This book was incredible. I loved the sensitive portrayal of Chloe’s chronic illness. And Red is just the perfect romance hero. Gruff exterior with a soft and squishy middle. It was so nice to see these two find their HEA together. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Too much swearing. The story itself wasn't bad I probably could have enjoyed it more but it was just the language that really bothered me. I would think if you're intelligent enough to write a book you could write it without using a bunch of low-class words to tell your story. I don't mind a swear word here and there I'm no prude but this was over the top.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Get A Life, Chloe Brown, was a very readable book, fast-paced, page-turning, enjoyable. It wasn't until after I put the book down that I began to think more about what I'd just read. Black woman with serious fibromyalgia + white man coming out of an emotionally abusive relationship does not equal an instant attraction, a love match, a relationship. Living with chronic pain myself, I know that most of the time the last thing on my mind is sex and a steady boyfriend. My mind is mostly thinking "when can I take another pain killer?" I've also been in an abusive relationship, and I just don't bounce back as quickly as Red does in this book. Two therapy appointments are not a cure, and I'm still finding this out many years down the line. I think this book, while feeling generous with an unusual couple, fails to be realistic about how difficult it would be to make this work. There were a lot of fun parts to this book. I really enjoyed the chapter where e-mails are exchanged between Chloe and Red - I've always liked the epistolary novel. The sex scenes in this book made me uncomfortable, and as there are several of them, that's important. They didn't feel like erotica, and I felt dirty reading them. Not a great book, but it made for a relaxing night of reading.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved this book! The narrator made Chloe sound like she was 60 though which ruined the book a little because I had to keep reminding myself the main characters are, in fact, the same age.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was so hooked on the witty dialogue and the lovable characters, I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5OK, maybe this isn't the best book ever, maybe the plot isn't quite up to 4 stars, and maybe the sex is overdrawn. Doesn't matter.Chloe is in constant pain. And the author gets that right. Gets how you don't like to make plans because you don't know whether you will be able to carry them out on the planned day. Gets how you refuse things you want and need because you can't stand the pain they might put you through. All the rest of it doesn't matter.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Comment: Parts I found interesting but it seemed all over the place or it was my disjointed listening - not sure. I also didn't enjoy the characters as portrayed by the narrator. Found the voices a bit jarring.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5(3.75)
Good, very good even. But I think the expectations I had for it, based on the hype it has received, were too high that it couldn’t have reach it accordingly. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good book but awful narration. The dialogues were so bad… makes me sad because I feel like I didn’t enjoy the book to the fullest because of it. Hope the narrator of the 2 next books is better.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best romcoms in existence and one of my favorite contemporary romances ever written.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I absolutely loved this book! Very easy to listen to for those who doesn't listen to much audiobooks!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing read. Relatable lovable characters. 10/10 recommend! I'm going to be purchasing the physical copy because it's that amazing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I read this after Eve, and I cannot decide which one is better! This book sheds light on fibromyalgia and connects greatly to those readers that may be in a similar situation. The way she wrote real-life people into a fictional book was amazing. I cannot wait to see how she curates Dani's book, and I am expecting it to be just as amazing.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book was enjoyable for the main character, a self-assured woman who lives with disability. I loved the descriptions of art and the romance was okay, but a little crude for me.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fun M/F romance novel set in England. It's cute how the two main characters get nervous around each other and act out by unknowingly pushing the buttons of the other. I love the grandmother. I might read more in this series if I am in the mood.
(At least this romance had queer characters with LINES and love lives of their own.) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book! I liked Chloe and loved Red! This book was so steamy! I loved it!
I'm glad Chloe and Red got back together in the end.
Adjoa Andoh did a really fantastic job performing this story! I thoroughly enjoyed her narration.
I read this book on May 22-23, 2022. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5man they just lost me towards the end lol but i think this was good?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5loved the characters! i think the author does a great representation of chronic illness and disability.
the narrator was not my favorite, especially her red voice. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was fun, witty, and sexy! Definitely a 4 star for a rom com.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very witty, good narration. Quick and fun read! Loved it!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved this book. I could relate to Chloe in so many ways. The romance was sweet. The story really shows you how not to judge a book by it's cover.
