About this audiobook
"Amy Landon's lively narration unites present-day Ohio and Perceforest, a fairy-tale realm, in this immersive reimagining of the Sleeping Beauty universe." - AudioFile Magazine
USA Today bestselling author Alix E. Harrow's A Spindle Splintered brings her patented charm to a new version of a classic story. Featuring Arthur Rackham's original illustrations for The Sleeping Beauty, fractured and reimagined.
“A vivid, subversive and feminist reimagining of Sleeping Beauty, where implacable destiny is no match for courage, sisterhood, stubbornness and a good working knowledge of fairy tales.” —Katherine Arden
It's Zinnia Gray's twenty-first birthday, which is extra-special because it's the last birthday she'll ever have. When she was young, an industrial accident left Zinnia with a rare condition. Not much is known about her illness, just that no-one has lived past twenty-one.
Her best friend Charm is intent on making Zinnia's last birthday special with a full sleeping beauty experience, complete with a tower and a spinning wheel. But when Zinnia pricks her finger, something strange and unexpected happens, and she finds herself falling through worlds, with another sleeping beauty, just as desperate to escape her fate.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a mix of opinions. Some describe it as an adorable fairytale retelling with lots of feels, good for a light read. Others find it not enjoyable, with flat characters and pacing issues. Overall, it is recommended for those who enjoy feminist retellings and want a better story for Sleeping Beauty.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Next to nothing about this was enjoyable. Flat, one dimensional characters, faux white feminism masquerading as something more, and pacing and plotting out of hell itself.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyable queer Sleeping Beauty retelling. A little too meta and on the nose at times.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A quick listen on a spin on a classic tale.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was good, but not great. I'm glad it was short and sweet.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Harrow is such an amazing writer. I am in love with both her novels. This one was fun. I found I didn’t connect to it personally as much as her other stories because I’m not really connected to retellings. This is still so well written and witty and sad and happy all at once and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys fairy tale retellings and wants to see all the Sleeping Beauty’s get a better story - one of their choosing.
