About this audiobook
Perpetually cheerful and eager to please, Gracie Cooper strives to make the best out of every situation. So when her father dies just months after a lung cancer diagnosis, she sets aside her dreams of pursuing her passion for art to take over his Midtown Manhattan champagne shop. She soon finds out that the store’s profit margins are being squeezed perilously tight, and complicating matters further, a giant corporation headed by the impossibly handsome, but irritatingly arrogant Sebastian Andrews is proposing a buyout. But Gracie can’t bear the thought of throwing away her father’s dream like she did her own.
Overwhelmed and not wanting to admit to her friends or family that she’s having second thoughts about the shop, Gracie seeks advice and solace from someone she’s never met—the faceless “Sir”, with whom she connected on a blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos.
But although Gracie finds herself slowly falling for Sir online, she has no idea she’s already met him in real life…and they can’t stand each other.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a cute and enjoyable enemies-to-lovers romance with banter. They appreciate the wholesome and light nature of the book, as well as the predictable yet charming storyline. The interactions between the characters, especially the Dear Sir letters, are loved by readers. However, some reviewers wished for more focus on the relationship between Gracie and Sebastian. Overall, readers find this book to be a delightful and wonderful read, perfect for those looking for a clean and romantic story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it, one of the best light romantic read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a lovely, romantic story! I will listen to this again for sure.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cute and clean without feeling chaste or angst, though the tension was very much there! It was a fun story that kept me up until one in the morning to finish.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing read!!!
How I have missed decent romance stories like this.
I always drop rom-coms few chapters in, because most authors have erotic scenes plastered everywhere which takes away the beauty, suspense and anticipation in the stories. I love how this story played out, definitely one of my absolute favorites.
You feel the story and the vibes
Jumping on other books by this author?? - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very cute. Predictable in all the right ways. An enjoyable listen all the way around.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was so cute I loved this little story. The ones that know will know what I mean when I write I keep thinking of Kelsey darrah when I hear "sir"
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s A wholesome book, fun and light ! I didn’t miss the *spice*
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Cute but exact same story line as You’ve Got Mail.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dragged a bit in places, but overall very delightful and wonderful to listen to!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Nice, predictable, nothing special. "You have got the mail" book twin.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Narration felt off for me, it wasn’t that it was monotone… I don’t know how to describe it. The story itself is a slowwwww burn and I love the theme, but I wish there were more of the messages back and forth. The story was just lacking for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. ❤️
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The narrator was horrible. I am pretty sure this was narrated by a computer, or maybe a cyborg. I guess I should have read it instead of listening to the audiobook because the story might have been cute if I could ignore the horrible stilted narration
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Okay book it felt very You’ve got mail at times.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Super liked this fantasy-like love story! Made me really smile and tear-up a little towards the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Middle child Gracie took over the family business when her father died, even though it wasn't her dream. She's able to sell her art at the wine and gift shop in NYC, but it's difficult for the business to compete with internet sales. Yet when developer Sebastian offers to buy out her lease, she's determined to keep her parents' dream alive. No matter how much she's attracted to Sebastian.
The more she gets to know him, the more he feels like the perfect man for her. Except that he's already got a girlfriend. As does the internet friend she's been texting for several weeks. Two men, either of whom could be her Mr. Right if he were available. Should she hold out hope, or look for love elsewhere?
The characters and the breezy writing style make this book. The plot is fairly predictable, and the obstacles a bit contrived. Sebastian seems inexplicably secretive. But it's wonderful to see Gracie grow into her potential, to reclaim her own dreams. This chick lit is definitely worth the read.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cute, adorable, laid back enemies to lovers romance with my favorite, banter. I loved the Dear Sir letters, I only wish there were more of them. The story focused more on Gracie and her ins and outs and I would have loved to see more of the interaction between Gracie and Sebastian. With more of those two things, this would have easily been a four star.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another fantastic book by Lauren Layne. Sweet and romantic, pure escapism, loved it !
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic as always! Love LL. Wish more love story of the two though rather than just towards the end
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/53.5. Loved the messages between the two characters. Fairytale fluff.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5WOOT, I think this is my third five star book in a row, after a string of DUDS!
Sure, this is a total "You've Got Mail" re-telling, but no surprises, low-angst, and plenty of flirty banter was exactly what I needed after the last book I read.
Did NOT think the male narrator's voice matched the MMC, but his POVs were rare enough that it didn't take me out of things. I saw another review complain about the female narrator sounding robotic, but I didn't find her to be so.
This book and its characters (even the ones absent through death, but frequently referenced) were sweet, charming, and kept me engaged to the very end.
Excellent choice for those who are looking for a "clean" read! I don't mind plenty of "spice" myself, but I didn't miss it. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Lauren Layne’s novels and I was super excited to see this one on here in audiobook format. I really enjoyed it!
