About this ebook
My thoughts spill across the page
Ink scattered on paper
Staining what once was clean with inner demons and desires
I read the words back
Swallow them and let them digest
The taste is bitter on my tongue
Spilled Ink is a poetry collection with a variety of fictional poetry: horror themed, fairy tale themed, and some based on the viewpoints of characters I've written in my novels and short stories. It also includes poetry that is a window into my own thoughts and feelings—past, present, and everything in between. I guess it's up to you to decide what's me and what's merely fiction. Either way, I hope you enjoy the words on these pages.
Warning: This book contains horror themed pieces with various forms of abuse.

To my daughter, Layne. May you always feel the freedom to be yourself, may you always have the confidence to say how you feel, and may you always love to the fullest extent. But most importantly, may you always find happiness.
Introduction
In life, sometimes things sneak up on us and take us by surprise. This poetry book was one of those things for me. Poetry is not my focus or something I spend much time with. It’s not that I don’t enjoy reading it or writing it. I do. But I tend to spend most of my time with fiction. So, when I was going through some past writing and discovered that I actually had a decent amount of poetry I had completed over the years, I thought it might be worth focusing on a bit more. I spent the next few months writing new poems, revising old ones, and revisiting past emotions and stories. What came from that work is the book you now hold in your hands. What you’ll find, as you turn the pages, is a mixture of fictional poetry: horror themed, fairy tale themed, and some based on the viewpoints of characters I’ve written; and poetry that is a window into my own thoughts and feelings—past, present, and everything in between. I guess it’s up to you to decide what’s me and what’s merely fiction. Either way, I hope you enjoy the words on these pages.

Write something, I tell myself.
But where do I start?
Do I start with the love story that reads like false promises?
Or the horror stories that disguise real human behavior behind the masks of monsters?
Or maybe the poems that steal the truth from my lips?
So many paths.
So many versions of my thoughts etched onto the page.
Sometimes I think these pages know me better than anyone.
They’ve received what I’ve revealed;
held onto the stories that drift
