Calculate the capacity of the plant and plant capacity factor
[Ans: 0.632]

A power plant delivers 100 MW from 6 am to 2 pm and 150 MW from 8 pm to 12

am. The power plant will shut down for maintenance in some duration of each
year. The energy generated per year is 335.5 x 103 MWh. Assuming the 80% of
the plant capacity is the maximum demand, analyze:
o Daily energy production
o The actual day of the power plant is operated and the day of power plant is
shut down for a year.
o The average load and the annual load factor.
o The capacity of the power plant.
o The reserve capacity of the power plant.
o The plant use factor.
[Ans: 1400MWh, 240, 125, 38.3MW,
0.2553, 187.5MW, 37.5MW, 0.31]

7.

A power plant which located at Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu, delivers 50 MW from 8

am to 10 am and from 10 pm to 2 am, 100 MW from 10 am to 4pm and 10 pm to
12 am. The power plant is shut down for the rest of each day. Due to the raining
season, the power plant will shut down for maintenance in some duration of each
year. The energy generated per year is 330 x 103MWh. Assuming the 80% of the
power plant capacity is the maximum demand, analyze:
