Application of Nitobond AR, Acrylic Emulsion Cement Modifier

and Concrete Bonding Agent

Concrete substrate priming

1 The concrete primer shall be Nitobond AR, a single component acrylic Primer.

2 The Nitobond AR shall be applied while concrete surface is damp. If the concrete surface has
dried, it shall be wetted out using a hand-held spray or by the application of clean water by brush.

3 Nitobond AR shall be used directly from the drum and shall be applied to all prepared concrete
surfaces using a 25-30 mm wide standard paint brush. Special care shall be taken to ensure all
irregularities in the surface are properly coated, particularly behind steel reinforcing bars.

4 Nitobond AR shall be allowed to cure for 10-20 minutes maximum, depending on drying
conditions. The repair mortar shall be applied before Nitobond AR is dry, the optimum time being
when it becomes ‘tacky’.

5 If Nitobond AR dries before the repair mortar can be applied, a second coat shall be worked well
into the concrete surface, again by brush. This shall be allowed to cure until it becomes ‘tacky’.

Nitobond AR
A single component acrylic emulsion cement modifier and concrete bonding agent for floor toppings,
renders and mortars. it is a recommended primer for the Renderoc cementitious repair system. It is
also used as a curing membrane reducing water loss and ensuring good hydration.
