3. Details of the modification

(1) Additional working of the ROPS guard and roof

-1. Welding the tapped seat (to install the antenna)

(2) Installation of the KOMTRAX parts

-1. Replacing the floor cover (on the RH side of the operator's seat)
-2. Installing the KOMTRAX terminal, harness, antenna, etc.

(3) Carrying out the KOMTRAX service starting operation (Inauguration test)
-1. Carry out the KOMTRAX service starting operation as per the procedure being in-
dicated on page 8.
When carrying out the inauguration test, select a place with as wide open sky as
possible since communications with the satellite will be made frequently.

IMPORTANT
• It is necessary to obtain an approval for the radio wave used for the KOMTRAX
System in each country.
Therefore, when exporting the machine to countries where the above approval has
not been obtained, be sure to remove the KOMTRAX controller before shipment.
(Regarding the information of the countries in which the KOMTRAX System is us-
able, contact a Komatsu Distributor. Removal of the KOMTRAX controller is car-
ried out by a Komatsu Distributor.)

k1 Refer to the shop manual regarding the matters (bolt tightening torque, etc.) not de-
scribed in this Installation Manual.
k2 Welding work should be carried out by qualified persons in the facility which is well
equipped.
Since gas generation, fire accident and electrification accident may occur, never let
a person who is not qualified carry out the welding work.
