Statement of Purpose
From being a curious science student, I have learned that ultimate happiness is obtained not only
by hard work and intelligence, but also by unlimited bravery in pursuing my own dreams. It has
had a profound impact on development of my personality and my overwhelming desire for
learning, invention, and accomplishment. It has led me to pursue higher education for research
and discovery with an aim to contribute to betterment of society and community. During my
high school years, I tried hard to build strong foundations in mathematics, chemistry, and physics
as prerequisites to success at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My strength in these subject
areas has helped me successfully achieve my academic goals.

The course offered me a great deal of insight into Material Physics with a strong mathematical
background. As my second year research project, I selected the experimental designing of
Magnetic and Permeability properties of Ferrites, based on my sound knowledge of Solid State
Physics. The title of my research project was “Investigation of Structural, Magnetic and
Permeability properties of Mg-Substituted R-type Hexagonal Ferrite” and accordingly I
constructed a ferrite material that works as paramagnetic material. The enhanced values of
magnetic permeability make these ferrites materials useful for super high frequency devices
(SHF). I have submitted a scientific paper to research committee which is currently under
review.

I have completed my Master of Philosophy in Solid State Physics from Centre of Excellence in
Solid State Physics, University of the Punjab Pakistan. I have been a quick learner, mostly
considered to be motivated to learn new things from cognitive people and teams. Along with the
textual studies, life made me learn many things in everyday happenings and sprang practical
lessons. I have forward-looking, scientific and innovative research attitude and aptitude. I have a
basic background in Experimental research. My experimental work gives students a knowledge-
full platform to learn physics in the classroom by incorporating experiments into lectures. My
overall intellectual ability and innovative approach towards research problems surely show the
promise that I can tackle difficult and new problems, contributing to some new physics. Now I
want to utilize my full research potential to work in a competitive and up-to-date research
environment to further improve upon my skills and expertise and hence contribute positively to
scientific knowledge.
During master I worked with experimental research group headed by Dr. Imran Sadiq khan,
being a member of this theoretical and experimental research group, I have the basic knowledge
to synthesis and characterization of the materials that will help me to add the valuable knowledge
to the field material sciences. Nowadays around the globe one of the major problems is
electromagnetic pollution. The increasing magnetic pollution arise the need of absorbing
materials that absorb these EM radiations and save the ecological system. So, I decided to work
on the microwave absorbing materials (Ferrites) to lessen the loss and develop this world a better
place for our generations.
Currently I am working as a research assistant at International Society of Engineering Science and
Technology UK. I have been working in this group since 2019 and during this period I learnt a lot
to be an effective and efficient researcher by providing with opportunities to enhance my
research skills, abilities and allow me to work on various world class projects. I worked as an
instructor of Physics after my Master in various Government sector institutes and was offered a
job by Private sector institutes as well to continue as Lecturer at their organizations. But my
thirst to learn more and gain more regarding this loving field is forcing me to pursue Ph.D. now
and then Postdoctoral latterly (hope). Honestly, it is the entire scope that is directed by Solid
State Physics which has stimulated my interest in this science so far, no matter whether it is
theoretical or experimental. However, I hope to concentrate more on experimental Solid State
Physics, my future graduate studies because I believe that these will be the areas in which most
of my potential could be wholly unleashed.
I have faith that doctoral study will provide an innovative in my career along with valuable
experiences that will allow me to become an innovative, determined professional and help in
completing my goals. I have chosen to study at your university because you have a rising and
growing reputation in science studies, and I believe that I can benefit from the contacts that you
have developed in all areas of Science and Technology. I feel your institution has the right
combination and arrangement of academic professionalism, welcoming atmosphere and a lively
social scene that can help me to grow professionally and emotionally. I would be very thankful
indeed if you would consider my application to enroll in your science studies degree course, as I
feel that I have the required ambition, personal commitment, knowledge, and experience that is
needed to be a successful student at your institution.”
I aspire to do my higher studies in Physics to obtain a Ph.D. and possibly Postdoctoral later and
to engage in research and teaching or scientist as a profession. Having obtained the instructions
from my professors, seniors, and colleagues about my choice of Universities, I have applied to
your Institution as it is reputed for research facilities and resources. The department web site also
revealed a very strong faculty involved in extensive research in the area of “Material Science,
Condensed Matter Physics and Applied Physics”. This also has strengthened my resolve to
study at your Institution.
I am very hopeful for future higher studies at your institution in a foreign country also I am very
happy to join a new culture because I am very interested in collaborating with new peoples.
Sincerely,
Zahoor Ul Hassan
