characteristics of vertebrates and invertebrates

B. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to practice ways of caring


and protecting animals

C. Learning Competencies: Determine the distinguishing characteristics of


vertebrates and invertebrates
Objectives:
* Classify the characteristics of vertebrate animals (mammals, birds, reptiles,
amphibians and fishes)
* Explain how to show their love and care to animals in the community;
* Participate actively to any given task or activities
(S6 LT-IIe-f-3)

Normally, these group of animals are called vertebrates. These are classified into five
smaller groups: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. In this lesson you will
learn the characteristics of each classification. (Refer to module page 23. What is it.)

Activity - Let’s get organized
Directions: Sort the animals in our shelter. Copy the animal pictures and paste them
on their respective group as mammal, bird, fish, reptiles and amphibians.
