1. General

Beacon Light is designed primarily for day and night operation as identification and
location of civil airports, seaplane airports and heliports.
The color of light depends on the aviation regulation and the local condition as follows ;
- White / Green : BEACON 1
- White / Green/Yellow : BEACON 2

2. Technical information

YOUYANG Beacon is consist of the upper parts (rotation parts) with rotation axis, lamps,
reflector, color lens and the lower parts with motor, gear, slip ring, breaker.

2.1 The upper parts (rotation parts)

2.1.1 Lamps - Type: PAR64

2.1.2 Reflector
- The reflector is made with aluminum.

2.1.3 Color lens

- Green / Yellow

2.1.4 Mounting bracket is fixed on shaft.

2.1.5 Angle (900/1200/1800) and number (2/3/4) of Light fixture depends on regulation. The
vertical angle can be adjusted within 10O.

2.1.6 Front Cover glass to protect lamp.

2.1.7 Obstruction light (option)

- Obstruction light with 100W lamp is used when white or green lamp is disconnected.

2.2 Lower parts (fixing parts)

Lower part is attached inside of outer aluminum box and has locks at front and back.

2.1.2 Motor & reduction gear

- Motor is connected with condenser. The number of rotation of motor is designed as
one step. The number of rotation of motor is changed according to reduction gear
adjustment and reduction rate depends on frequency.
- The light fixture is rotated through motor with gear and shaft with gear.
- Electric power transmission
Brush block -> Slip ring fixed on shaft -> Inside of shaft -> Light fixture

2.1.2 Slip ring & Brush

- Slip ring & Brush are used for the connection of non-twisted wire to the upper parts.

2.1.3 Main MCCB

- Main MCCB is designed to isolate the electricity provided for power and each
component.

2.1.4 Electronic Contactor (MC)

Electronic Contactor is the switch which supplies lamps and motor for electricity after it
received from outside.

2.1.5 Heater
Temperature regulator function is preventing influence from temperature on each part in
lower part.

2.1.6 Remote control and monitoring of short circuit of lamp are possible.

2.1.7 Transformer (Option)

Transformer is used to transfer electricity in case that input power is different from the
standard.

3. Function

3.1 Input Powers

The input voltage of Beacon is followed as below.
- Single phase 220V/240V 50/60Hz (120V upon request)

3.2 Remote Control

Beacon is designed to do remote control. The standard type is connected at the switch of
remote panel (CC1-CC) without separate electricity and the other is a option that external
electricity is supplied.

3.3 Remote Monitoring

Beacon is designed to monitor the operation and trouble externally.

3.4 Frequency of Flashing

Beacon has the flashing number of 20~30 per minute and it with white and green works
by turns.

3.5 Color of filters

The color of filters has white, yellow and green in compliance with Aviation Regulation.

3.6 Intensity of light

The intensity of YOUYANG Beacon is followed below by the capacity of lamps.

Lamp of Beacon Elevation angle, in degree Minimum intensity in candelas

Medium Intensity 1-2 25,000
2 –8 50,000
8-10 25,000

High Intensity 1-2 37,500

2 –8 75,000
8-10 37,500
* Measurement Color: White
3.7 Temperature Regulators
Temperature regulator is designed not to be influenced by the ice or solidification in
operation parts and the rest parts through setting up the heater in the lower case of Beacon.
And the standard of temperature in a factory is set to +15°C. It is possible to set it again in
accordance with the condition of job-site.

4. Installation & Test

4.1 Installation

4.1.1 General
Anchor bolt or supporter in advance is installed in a construction site according to the
drawing.

4.1.2 Connection to electricity wire

Electricity wire is connected to terminal TB1(R, S) of Beacon.

4.1.3 Connection to remote-control wire

Remote control wire is connected to terminal TB2 (CC1, CC) and operation switch in a
control tower.

4.1.4 Connection to remote-monitoring wire

Remote-monitoring wire is connected to TB2. The external terminal for remote control has
a point of contact, which is not supplied for electricity.

4.1.5 Connection to a ground

Bolt, which fixes the body, is earthed to wire. The rest is flowed by the regulation in
construction site.

4.2 Test Working

4.2.1 Check all of the mechanical and electrical connection.

4.2.2 The breaker for motor, heater and lamps is turned off. And Main breaker is turned on.

4.2.3 The operation switch is turned on in a control tower. If not, the terminal (CC1, CC) for
remote control has a short circuit.

4.2.4 The breaker for lamps is turned on. And then, lamps are turned on. They flash white
and blue with the angle of 180° each other

4.2.5 The breaker for motor is turned on. At that time, it should be operated a long way off
because the rotation part has a rotation.

8
