LESSON 4 FUNCTIONS OF ART Social Function

• Art performs a function when:


Objectives
• Discuss the functions of arts 1. It seeks or tend to influence the collective behavior
• Analyze and evaluate the functions of arts of the people.
• Show examples through video clips the functions of arts
2. It created to be seen or used primarily in public
situation.

3. Provides both serious and humorous reflection


about and criticisms of society. Through their art,
artists seeking social changes bring public
awareness to a variety of social, political, and
environmental issues.

4. Collaboration and Community Building: Art can


bring people together (ex. Rizal’s novel).

Personal Function

• Artists have their personal reasons for indulging in art.

• Arts are vehicles for the artists’ expression of their


feelings and ideas. The arts also serve as means of Manila Today
