PHYSICAL AND PERSONAL ASPECTS OF

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

OBSERVE, ANALYZE, REFLECT

ACTIVITY 7.1 Identifying Personal and Physical Aspects of Classroom Management

Resource Teacher: Mrs. Racquel Oca Subject Area: Filipino

Grade/Year Level: Grade 10 School: DMRMNHS
Teacher’s Signature: Date:

OBSERVE

Observe a class and interview the Resource Teacher. Ask how the personal and
physical aspects of classroom management ensure proper classroom management and
discipline.

Check if these aspects were observed in the classroom.

Aspects of Classroom Management YE N

S O
1. Personal Classroom Management
1.1 Is the teacher well-groomed that he/she demands respect from the learners? /
1.2 Is the teacher's voice modulated and can be heard by the entire class? /
1.3 Was the teacher present in class? /
1.4 Did the teacher arrive on time in class? /
1.5 Does the teacher exude a positive attitude towards teaching? /
2. Physical Classroom Management
2.1 Is the classroom well-ventilated? /
2.2 is the lighting good enough? /
2.3 Is the classroom free from noise? /
2.4 Does the seating arrangement provide better interaction? /
2.5 is the design/structure of the room inviting to classroom activities? /
2.6 Is the physical space / learning station clear from obstruction? /

ANALYZE

Analyze the different elements of personal/physical classroom management and

answer the following questions?

1. How does the voice of the teacher affect classroom instruction?

The teacher's voice has a big impact on the overall learning outcomes of the students because
if the learner does not hear what the teacher is saying or teaching, it will certainly be difficult
for his students to fully understand the topic he is discussing. Therefore, it is important that
the teacher’s voice has the right volume modulation so that his or her voice can be heard
properly and clearly in every corner of the classroom.

2. How does the punctuality of the teacher affect classroom discipline?

As a teacher, it is important that we serve as role models to our students at all times. Simply
following the right time and being punctual in school will have a huge impact on students so
the teacher must be the first one who supposedly influence student. How can we encourage
our students to go to school early if the teacher himself does not have time discipline. Thus,
being disciplined can be seen in a simple observance of time.

3. Why do we need to check on the physical aspects of classroom management?

As a future teacher, we need to check the physical aspects of our classroom to ensure that it is
well-ventilated and has adequate facilities to conduct class. It is important for the teacher to
ensure that the learning environment is conducive and comfortable for all students because
the impact of the place where the learning takes place is great to ensure that the teacher
achieves his / her stated learning objectives.

REFLECT
Reflect on the aspects of personal and classroom management.

1. What does this statement mean to you as a future teacher? Explain.

"No amount of good instruction will come out without effective classroom
management."

Based on my own opinion, this statement means that the teacher's efficiency in his teaching is
irrelevant if he does not know how to manage the entire classroom. Because it depends on the
effective classroom management of the teacher how he can plan and organize the overall flow
of the discussion and the teacher will not determine what are the possible problems or
obstacles that will affect students' learning. If the teacher does not have good classroom
management, it will be difficult for him to maintain the order of the classroom and he will not
be able to ensure that his classroom is conducive to all learners.

2. What are your plans in ensuring effective classroom management?

The first thing I will do is I will first monitor and check the condition of the learning
environment of my students and I will see if there are enough facilities or if the classroom is
highly-ventilated for the class to take place. When I see a problem that could affect students
’learning, I will resolve it right away and fix it because I want to make sure the place where
the learning takes place is conducive and comfortable.

ACTIVITY 7.2 Demonstrating knowledge of positive and non-violent discipline in the

management of learner behavior.

ANALYZE

Analyze the checklist you have accomplished and answer the given questions:

1. How many strategies were employed by the Resource Teacher? Did these contribute
to better classroom management? Explain your answer.

Based on my observation, the employed strategies of the teacher in his class were about 16
Classroom Management Strategies and in my opinion, it contributes a lot to the teacher to
learn what rules or guidelines he should implement to make his classroom be more efficient
and organized while he was in class.

2. What were not used by the Resource Teacher? Were these important? What should
have been used instead? Explain.

The unused teacher classroom management strategies is to punish the entire class. In my
opinion, this is no longer important and necessary especially since the whole class is in a
virtual learning environment. Therefore, these strategies are not applicable to the online class
and it will not help the students to learn especially since they also have problems at home and
most of them are already stressed in their studies. Instead of punishing the entire class, it is
still better for the teacher to motivate and give encouragement to his students to still take care
of their mental health despite the pandemic.

REFLECT

As a future teacher, reflect on the observations then answer the given question.

1. What classroom management strategies do I need to employ to respond to diverse

types of learners?

As a future teacher, I want to focus more on providing different types of motivational

activities or performance tasks that suit the abilities, talents and learning needs of my students
because only in this way can I discover the different interests of my students to further
motivate and engage them to actively involve and participate in the teaching-learning
process.
