GRADE 7 SCIENCE

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the different phenomena that occur in the
atmosphere.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to analyze the advantages of the location of the
Philippines in relation to the climate, weather and seasons.

Learning Competency: Account for the occurrence of land and sea breezes, monsoons, and intertropical
convergence zone (ITCZ). (S7ES-IVf-7)

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to.
 Define monsoons
 Differentiate land breeze from sea breeze and
 Explain the two kinds of monsoons.

land breezes over a large region that change
direction with the seasons are called monsoons and
also known as major wind system.

There are two types of monsoons which


experienced in the county, what are these?

Correct! The northeast monsoon is locally known


as amihan and characterized by widespread
cloudiness with slight to moderate rainfall, On the
other hand the southwest monsoon is known as
habagat and it is characterized by heavy rainfall,
humid weather and rainy season.

F. Application

Valuing
The rain brought by monsoons plays an
important role to the Filipino farmers. The
seasonal rains supply enough water that
will help the farmers to speed up planting
agricultural crops to supply food in our
community. Sea breeze, ma’am.
However, too much rain brought by
monsoon may cause flood and destroys life
and agricultural products of farmers.

IV. Generalization
