PROJECT PROPOSAL
“BRIGADA PAGBASA SA BRIGADA ESKWELA 2021”
Theme: “Bayanihan para sa Paaralan”.
The Department of education conduct the Brigada Eskwela 2021, known as the National
schools Maintenance week with the theme “Bayanihan para sa Paaralan“. Our countries’
current literacy rate is high but the Department of Education say no Filipino should be left behind
in terms of reading and comprehension especially at this time of pandemic. This school
maintenance effort adds a program that addresses the literacy rates in our country. This program
is the Brigada Pabasa, it is a movement that seeks to enhance the skills of Filipino children who
can read and improve their comprehension. It is an offshoot of Brigada Eskwela — an annual
schools’ maintenance activity initiated by DepEd and done nationwide with the help of various
sectors and individuals who volunteer to do the work, including repairs and clean up to ensure
that every Filipino could read and become literate. This is an act of ensuring that education must
continue amidst the challenges and uncertainties of face to face classes brought by COVID -19. In
the spirit of bayanihan, private institutions/individuals and even government units are expected
to contribute in generating resources and efforts. During the weeklong event, volunteers takes
time in teaching reading, story-telling, doing repairs, painting, and cleaning of school campus.
