COURSE OUTCOMES
This course deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the
context of national and global teachers’ standards, educational philosophies. It includes
an articulation of the rootedness of education in the philosophical and historical context,
the four pillars of learning, 21st Century skills, Professional Ethics, core values
professional rights, privileges and responsibilities, and the teacher’s role in society as an
agent of change. It will make use of methods and strategies of teaching that enhance the
development of learners’ life and career skills and higher-order-thinking skills.

In its broadest sense, teaching is a process that facilitates learning. Teaching is the
specialized application of knowledge, skills and attributes designed to provide unique
service to meet the educational needs of the individual and of society. The choice of
learning activities whereby the goals of education are realized in the school is the
responsibility of the teaching profession.

In relation, this subject introduces students to the teaching profession. It enables students
to explore their suitability for teaching through learning the placement consisting of
observation of teaching and learning as well as limited opportunities to undertake
supported teaching practice.
The subject aims to offer students a realistic insight into modern teaching practice as well
as opportunities to reflect on their understanding of teaching and their desire to join the
profession.
Further, students are exposed through self-learning modules of different context of the
teaching profession. They will be guided of the ideas in the realm of education.
