A. Elicit REVIEW
In your Grade 8 Science you have already discuss and know about the digestive systems. Now, let
us recall what you have learned in your grade 8 discussion.

What is digestive system?


What are the organs in the digestive system?
How does digestive system work?

B. Engage ZUMBA TIME


The learners will have 2–3 minutes exercise by following the Zumba video to determine the
effects of this activity to both respiratory and circulatory systems. They are going to describe what they
feel after the Zumba.
If we do this kind of exercise regularly, this exercise helps us to be physically fit.

- The function of respiratory system is to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the air and
the cells.

Parts of the Respiratory System

Mechanism of Breathing
Inhalation (inspiration) and exhalation (expiration) are the processes by which the body takes
in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide during breathing. You breathe with the help of the diaphragm and the
intercostal muscles between your ribs. The diaphragm is shaped like a parachute and located below your
lungs. It divides the chest cavity from the abdomen, while intercostal muscles are located between your
ribs.

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
- The function of the circulatory system is to transport oxygen and nutrients to the body cells and to
carry deoxygenated (oxygen-poor) blood and carbon dioxide back to the heart and lungs.
