Lesson Plan Regular and Non-Regular Polygon
Lesson Plan Regular and Non-Regular Polygon
Department of Education
BROOKE’S POINT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
A Demonstration Lesson Plan in Grade 7 - Mathematics
I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of geometry of shapes
Standard and sizes, and geometric relationships.
B. Performance The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve
Standard accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.
C. Learning
The learner illustrates polygons: (a) convexity; (b) angles; and (c) sides.
Competency
LC Code M7GE-IIIe-2
Applied a range of successful strategies that maintain learning environments that
Focus Indicator motivate learners to work productively by assuming responsibility for their own
learning
D. Learning The learners will be able to:
Objectives 1. Differentiate regular polygon from non-regular polygon.
2. Identify the measurement of the sides and angles of a regular and non-
regular polygon.
II. CONTENT
Topic Polygons

ELICIT Yesterday we had an activity where
(Accessing Prior each one of you created and named your
Knowledge) own convex and concave polygon. Also,
you were able to tell the sides and angles
of each polygon. Now, I have these two
quadrilateral polygons, named WXYZ
and ABCD. Let us identify the sides and
angles of each polygon.
Figure A
W Z Figure A
Sides: WX, XY, YZ, ZW
Angles: <W, <X, <Y, <Z
X Y
Figure B
A B
Figure B
Sides: AB, BC, CD, DA
Angles: <A, <B, <C, <D
D C
Figure A Similarities:
W Z - They are quadrilateral polygons.
- Equal number of sides.
X Y Differences:
- They have different names; Figure A
is a quadrilateral WXYZ while Figure
Figure B B is quadrilateral ABCD.
A B - They are not in the same shape.
- Figure A has equal sides and equal
angles.
- Figure B has different measure of
D C angles and sides.

Figure A
Sides: All sides are 6cm
Angles: All angles are 90°
Figure B
Sides: AB = 4cm, BC = 3 cm, CD=6cm,
DA=3cm
Angles: <A = 105, <B= 105, <C=75, <D=75

Polygons with all sides and angles are
equal is what we called a Regular
Polygon while Irregular Polygon is a
polygon who do not have equal sides
and angles.
EXTEND In your notebook, draw a regular and irregular polygon. Then provide the
