Additional trophies will be awarded to Under 7, 9 & 11 categories (separate for Virudhunagar
district players).
All entries, be it regular or special, should be routed through the respective district chess
association.

Rules and Regulations

Age Limit Players should have been born on or after 01.01.2007.


Age proof is required. Certificate should be from the
Eligibility Panchayat/Municipality or corporation obtained soon after birth.
Players without the date of birth certificate will not be allowed to
participate. As per the rules of AICF, only players whose dates of birth
are registered within one year of their birth are permitted to take part in
respective age group state/nationals. Other country passport holders,
PIOs and OCIs shall not be allowed to participate in the State Chess
Championship. Only Tamil Nadu Players can participate in this
championship.
Unfurnished dormitory/room type of lodging will be provided to
Boarding & seeded/selected players and one manager per team (nominated by
Lodging district association).
Players are requested to bring their own beddings. Canteen facilities
are available on payment basis at the college premises itself. All special
entries and accompanying persons have to arrange accommodation on
their own.
Kindly note that accompanying persons of same gender alone will
be permitted to stay together. A boy cannot stay with a female and
a girl cannot stay with a male in the college premises.
AICF Player Registration fee is Rs.300/- for the year 2024-2025.
Registration of
AICF player registrations will be accepted only through online.
Participants with
AICF Players/Arbiters registration should be done well before the start of the
tournament.

TNSCA player registration Fee is Rs.150/- for the year 2024 – 2025.

Registration of VDCA player registration fee is Rs.50/- for the year 2024-2025 (for
Participants with Virudhunagar district players only).
VDCA
Default Time Default time is 15 minutes. Players have to be at the boards within
15 minutes of the start of the round.
Rules Latest FIDE rules in force shall apply.
System of Play The tournament will be Swiss System. The tournament shall be conducted
as nine rounds
Time Control 90 minutes each plus 30 seconds increment from the move one.
Tie-break Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz, Sonneborn Berger, Direct encounter,
number of wins (forfeit included) and number of wins with black. Latest
tiebreaks, effective from 1st April 2024 will be applied.
.In case of tie, prizes will not be shared.
Chess Clocks Each association is requested to provide at least one chess clock for
every two players.
Wrist Watches & AICF has banned the wrist watches & electronic devises including
electronic devises mobiles while playing in the FIDE rated events. Mobiles may be kept in
switch off mode in a separate bag.
Players are instructed not to wear the wrist watches while playing. It will
lead to loss of the game
Appeals An Appeals Committee comprising three members plus two reserves
Committee will be formed at the technical meeting. All the members and reserves
shall be from different districts. No member of committee can vote on
dispute in which a player from his own district involved and in such
case(s), the reserve member takes his place.
The decision of the appeals committee is final and binding on all players
concerned.
Tournament The tournament committee consisting of the General Secretary, TNSCA
Committee or his representative, the secretary of Virudhunagar or his representative
and representative from another district to be nominated by the TNSCA
shall decide on all emergency matters.
Protest Protest, if any against the decision of the Chief arbiter shall be made in
writing with a protest fee of Rs1000/- within 15 minutes of the incident.
The decisions of the appeals committee shall be final and binding on all
concerned.
The protest fee is refundable one if the protest is upheld.
Withdrawals A player may withdraw from the tournament at any stage after informing
the chief arbiter in writing.
Arrears The players belonging to districts which are in arrears to TNSCA willnot
be allowed to take part.
Rights of The TNSCA/Virudhunagar DCA/organizer Sivakasi Chess Club
Admission reserve the rights of admission to the venue and lodging place.
Instruction to Complaints against suspected over-aged players could be made
the District with a fee of Rs.1000/- to the organizers before the end of the
Chess second round who shall medically verify the players concerned and
Associations the matter will be taken to AICF through TNSCA.

Eligibility: Subject to the age stipulation


1 Every affiliated district/Special unit can field two players in each category.
2 The top four rankers of the TN State Under-17 Open and Girls Chess Championship
held at Tirunelveli in April 2023 are seeded to play in their respective categories.
3 The top two rankers of the TN State Under-15 Open & Girls Chess Championships held
at Dindigul in May 2023 are seeded to play in their respective categories.
4 The TNSCA General Secretary can nominate one entry in each category.
5 The host VDCA is eligible to field one more entry each in the boys’ and girls’ categories. In
the event of an odd entry in any category, the Virudhunagar District Chess Association is
entitled to add one more to make the total number even.
6 In addition to above the following districts can field additional entries by virtue of three
medal winners (gold, silver and bronze) secured by their players in the last 32nd TN
State Under 17 Open & Girls Chess Championship 2023 held at Tirunelveli.
Boys: Gold (3) – Chennai, Silver (2) – Virudhunagar & Bronze (1) – Tiruvallur.
Girls: Gold (3) – Chengalpattu, Silver & Bronze (2+1) – Chennai
7 Any player who pays the prescribed special entry fee for Open & Girls Rs.1200/- may
be considered for participation and these entries should be duly recommended by their
concerned district chess association.
8 Any current national champion in any category is to be seeded to all State
championship subject to age stipulation
9 Those who have qualified to represent the country in official FIDE events.
10 Any current National Champion in any category is to be seeded to all state championships
subject to age stipulation.
11 Any current National No.2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same category state
championship subject to age stipulation.
12 Any current World Champion in any category is to be seeded to all state championships.
13 Any current World No.2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same + one step higher State
championships.
14 Any current Asian Champion is to be seeded to the same plus one step higher state
championship.
15 Any current Asian No.2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same category.

All entries whether ‘regular’ or ‘special’ should be routed through the respective
district chess association on or before 27-04-2024. No entry will be entertained
after 27-04-2024.

Mr. S. Mohamed Jaleel, has been rendering its noble service since 1995
