AC Analysis of Differential Amplifier

Objective:

i. Single input single output differential amplifier.

ii. Single input differential output differential amplifier.
iii. Differential input single output differential amplifier.
iv. Differential input differential output differential amplifier.

Apparatus:
i. Digital oscilloscope
ii. Function Generator
iii. Digital Multimeter
iv. Bread Board
v. Transistor (2N3904)
vi. DC power supply
vii. Resistors (1k, 3.3k, 2.2k, 5.6k,10k)

Theory:
In this experiment we study the four different operations of differential amplifier
circuits.

SINGLE INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT: In this configuration we provide the input

signal at the base of only one transistor and ground the other base terminal. And
output is taken from the collector of other transistor which have grounded base.
For the analysis f SISO amplifier we use the following formulas.
Vin
i b=
[ R B 1+ R B 2 +2 ( β+1 ) ℜ]

SINGLE INPUT DIFFERENTIAL OUTPUT: In this configuration we provide the
input signal at the base of only one transistor and ground the other base terminal.
And output is taken from the collectors of both transistors. The output voltage of
SIDO amplifier can be calculated by using following formula.
V 0=iC [ RC 1 + RC 2 ]

DIFFERENTIAL INPUT SINGLE OUTPUT: In this configuration we provide the

input signal at the bases of both transistors. And output is taken from the collector
of one transistor.

DIFFERENTIAL INPUT SINGLE DIFFERENTIAL: In this configuration we

provide the input signal at the bases of both transistors. And output is taken from
the collectors of both transistors.

Procedure:
In this experiment we have done ac analysis for four different configurations.

SISO:

i. For SISO configuration, construct the circuit on bread board which is shown in
above figure.
ii. Connect the base of Q1 with function generator and ground the base of Q2.
iii. Set 40mv and frequency of 1 kHz with the help of function generator.
iv. Connect the oscilloscope with the collector terminal of Q2.
v. Now provide the supply to the circuit and note down the observations.

SIDO:

i. For SIDO configuration, construct the same circuit on bread board which we
construct in first part.
ii. Connect the base of Q1 with function generator and ground the base of Q2.
iii. Set 40mv and frequency of 1 kHz with the help of function generator.
iv. Connect the oscilloscope between the collector terminals of Q1 and Q2.
v. Now provide the supply to the circuit and note down the observations.

DISO:

i. For DISO configuration, construct the circuit on bread board which is shown in
above figure.
ii. Connect the bases of Q1 and Q2 with function generator.
iii. Set 40mv and frequency of 1 kHz with the help of function generator.
iv. Connect the oscilloscope with the collector terminal of Q2.
v. No provide the supply to the circuit and note down the observations.

DIDO:

i. For DIDO configuration, construct the same circuit on bread board which we
construct in third part.
ii. Connect the bases of Q1 and Q2 with function generator.
iii. Set 40mv and frequency of 1 kHz with the help of function generator.
iv. Connect the oscilloscope between the collector terminals of Q1 and Q2.
v. Now provide the supply to the circuit and note down the observations.
