OBJECTIVE - Practise the pronunciation of l blends
- Perform a phonics chant

Pupils able to practise the pronunciation of l blends and perform a phonics chant at least in 5 words
SUCCESS CRITERIA
independently and in 5 simple sentences with little guidance .

Pre-lesson
1. Write the l blends ( pl , bl , cl , gl ,fl ) on the board . Under each blend , stick the flashcards of the words that
begin with that blend .
2. Point to pl and say / pl / a couple of times ,encouraging students to repeat after teacher . Then point to the
object and say it aloud , having students repeat after teacher .
3. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the blends .

Lesson delivery

Activity 1 ( Track 62 )
4. Play the CD and have students listen and point to the first time.
ACTIVITIES 5. Play the CD again and have student listen , point and repeat .

Activity 2 ( Track 63 )
6. Direct students’ attention to the picture and ask students questions they can answer .
7. Explain to students that they are going to listen to a chant and that they will have to circle all the l blends they
hear in the chant .
8. Play the chant Toys and have students listen and follow along in their books.
9. Play the chant again , pausing after each line for students to circle .
10. Then , play the chant once more and encouraging them to chant along .

Post-lesson
11. Students do the activity in their work book page 86 .
