regular hexagon, towards the other five angular points, taken in order. Find the magnitude
and direction of the resultant force.
9. Determine the resultant of the three forces acting on a hook as shown in figure.

10. A lifting machine consist of pulley arranged in third order system. There are three pulleys in
the system. A load of 1000N is lifted by an effort of 180N is lifted by an effort of 180N. Find
the efficiency of the machine and the effort lost in friction.
11. Locate the centroid of the I-Section shown in figure

16. In a lifting machine, an effort of 100KN is required to lift a load of 900KN. It is found that the
effort has to move through a distance of 75cm, while the load is lifted through a height of
3cm. Find
a. Work done in lifting the load through 0.5m.
b. Distance moved by effort when the load is lifted through 0.5m.
c. Work done by effort in lifting the load through 0.5m.
d. Effort required to lift the load if the machine were frictionless.
e. Effort lost in friction.
