In accordance with the foundation celebration of Lyceum of the Philippines Laguna and LPU - St. Cabrini, LTE Productions showcase the talents of Lycean actors and actresses as they perform on the magnificent play entitled TROPA last February 9, 2011. The play was held at the atrium in the PHL building at 7:00 pm. Blockbuster is what they say the play turned out to be. The seats were all occupied and even the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building were filled with audiences. As a matter of fact, my classmates and I were in the 2 nd floor when we watch the play. The play started on time and the crowd became silent when the lights turned off. The audience was dazzled as colorful spotlights roamed the stage. I can say that the lights and all the effects used in the play are brilliant and it matches the cool atmosphere that night.
The play is all about friendship, love and trust. Four male students serve as the lead characters and a female student acted as the girlfriend of one of the male leads. The actors and actresses played their role very great and they really deserve the applauses they get when the play ended, especially Maam Anna Kagaoan who did really well on the play as the mother of one of the male leads. I love the part when one of the male leads (the shortest one of all four) filled his role with humor and his voice is so powerful that he did a very excellent performance. I also like the part where the four male leads which are best of friends were chatting and prove that the play has a comedic part. I am interested in the scene about the lovers who are about to have a break-up because of the girl leaving because of family matters. I was intrigued whether she will choose his boyfriend or his family. Their scenes were really nice and funny because whenever the girl is being sweet with his boyfriend, his boyfriend always ends
up hitting the girl (slapping and pulling his girlfriends hair). I was also captivated by the scene wherein one of the four male leads (the one wearing eyeglasses) is seen hugging the girlfriend of his friend. I wonder what will happen to their friendship after that. I admit I was a little confuse on the part where there is a boy wearing a uniform of a security guard and he is talking with one of the male leads and there is smoke in the stage. I wonder if that was a dream or the guy with the security guard had just suddenly died. Talking about extras, I am a little bit annoyed by the role of the store owner wherein she always interrupts the scene and always sweeping the floor whenever the four male leads where talking. The play became more realistic because of the extras who are always buying in the store and I laughed at the role of the gay who always incur debts whenever he is buying. There was a twist in the end where one of the male leads lost something and the store owner found it and gave it back to him. They ended up being attracted to each other and I found that part lovely and nice.
All in all, that was such a great and amazing play. Job well done for Ms. Anna Kagaoan and LTE productions!
