Electronic control system

PC200-7 vs. PC200-8

Hydraulic & electronic control system

Hydraulic & electronic control system consists of 9 functions , which are basically installed in both 2
PC200-7 and 8 . Nevertheless each function includes several differences between them in details.

PC200-7 system diagram PC200-8

Two PC-EPC valves are installed for front and rear pumps independently. 4
PPC pressure switches are replaced with pressure sensors except Boom lower, Arm dump and Travel. Engine
controller is installed for common rail type engine.

4 mode ( P, E, B, L) selected by operator changes

matching point engine torque with Pump
absorption torque. Engine horse power decreases
from P mode to L mode.

Hyperbola lines shows PC control , constant power.

Vertical lines shows maximum flow rate when light
load. Slant lines shows cut-OFF near maximum
pressure load. LS-EPC controls simply to reduce
max. pump flow rate when L mode is selected.

“P ” is named “A ” in PC200-7. 5

PC200-8

When emergency pump drive switch is turned ON, constant current is supplied from
battery directly, which makes Pump absorption torque to decrease in order to 6
prevent engine stall, even if controller is down.

Cut-OFF function

Two EPC valves are employed for merging or dividing of main and LS pressure lines on 7
Merge-divider valve on PC200-8 . PC200-7 control is done by ON/OFF solenoid.

This function is same as PC200-7 and 8 ,or switched by one Control pressure from 2-stage
ON/OFF solenoid valve. 8
relief solenoid valve
2 stage relief valve structure

This is the Pilot-Poppet relief vale. The poppet opens first pushing the spring(1) to RH and then
the piston opens by the difference pressure of the flow. This is the lower side setting.
When PPPC, PPC or pilot pressure comes in RH side chamber and pushes the poppet by the
9
force , PPPC X ¼ X πd12. This is the higher side setting. This higher pressure is for One-Touch
power up, Traveling and L mode.
Merge/Divide solenoid valve algorithm

Controlled by two
EPC valves.

detail.
Cut-OFF function

Controller increases current to PC-

EPC valves to reduce the flow rate
in the relieving side to save fuel
consumption .

Difference between PC200-7 and 8

PC200-8 : The 2 PC-EPC valves are
controlled independently when F and R flows
are divided on PC200-8.
PC200-7 : PC-EPC valve is always controlled
both F and R pumps together without relation
to the merge-divider function

11
One touch power maximizing function
PC200-8

There is no
difference between
PC200-7 and 8 in
this function ,except
engine-pump
control system.

This function enables to increase digging force by combination of

engine & pump matching, 2-stage relief and Cut-OFF cancel controls
like LH table. Pressing the knob switch on top of LH control lever
makes this function started to work, then automatically stops after
8.5 seconds. This function is effective only when P, E, or ATT 12
modes
are selected with Swing lock SW OFF.
Auto-deceleration function
PC200-7 This function can be set ON or OFF by the button
on the monitor panel .
When all levers are in neutral position for 4 sec,
engine speed is lowered to about 1,400 rpm.
PC200-7 is adopted with the 2 stage type ( 1st :
0sec, 2nd : 4sec ), PC200-8 is changed to single
stage type ( 4 sec ).

Auto-warm-up
and overheat prevention function PC200-8

14
Hydraulic oil temperature is additionally used from PC200-8 on the overheat prevention function.
Auto-warm-up function

PC200-7 & 8

The engine automatic warm-up function increases the engine speed to warm up the
engine faster when coolant temperature is low after engine starting.
The algorithm is same on PC200-7 and 8 for this function . 15
Overheat prevention function PC200-8

The overheat prevention function reduces the pump load when coolant or hydraulic oil temperature
is too high during operation to protect the engine from overheating.
16
Algorithm is almost same between PC200-7 and 8 except hydraulic oil temperature sensor information
is used additionally on PC200-8.
Swing control function
PC200-8

※Note) Not only Swing but

also one or more of Swing,
Boom, Arm and Bucket
are operated, the brake is
released.

Swing lock switch

When 5 seconds after all levers return to neutral position or Controller receives OFF signal from all PPC
Pressure switches or sensors of Boom, Arm, Bucket and Swing, the swing parking brake is turned ON. Once
one or multiple levers are operated, Controller sends current to Swing Brake solenoid to release the parking
17
brake. The algorithm PC200-8 is same as PC200-7 except the six PPC pressure sensors on PC200-8.

PC200-8
Travel control function
consists of below 2
items.
(1)Travel shifting
(speed) control
(2)Straight
travel/steering control.

In Travel control function,

there is no difference
between PC200-7 and 8
except engine control
system.
System structure and
algorithm are same as
PC200-7 and 8.

Travel shifting control
(1)Manual shift mode

LS-EPC valve Travel

Controller press.
Travel speed
SW
solenoid valve

Three travel speeds ( Lo, Mi Hi) are made by combination of Pump and Motor capacities.
Pump capacity is controlled by LS-EPC valve ,or LS-EPC current is about 0mA at Hi speed ,as the current
increases ,Pump discharge amount decreases.
Motor capacity is switched by Travel speed solenoid valve, or solenoid turned ON at Hi speed, motor becomes
minimum angle.
Unless travel lever is touched, or pressure switch OFF, Controller send maximum current to LS-EPC and 0 to
travel speed solenoid valve.

(2)Automatic shift mode

(2)-1 Automatic change by engine speed
When engine speed is set below 1,500 rpm, the travel speed does not switch
to Hi even when travel mode is in Hi. On the other hand when engine speed
is set above 1,500rpm, motor capacity is automatically switched back to
Minimum .
(2)-2 Automatic change by pump discharge pressure
When Pump pressure is kept to 24.5MPa at least 0.5 sec. during traveling at
Hi , the travel motor capacity automatically is switched to Max . Then Pump
pressure goes below 14.7MPa at least 0.5 sec., motor capacity returns to 19
min. again.
