Von Moltke’nin kitabı ‘’ Briefe über Zustände und Begebenheiten in der Türkei aus den Jahren 1835 bis 1839 ‘’; Türkiye’deki şartlar ve olay- lara ilişkin mektuplar, 1835-39, çalıştığı çeşitli ülkelerden yazdığı sekiz ciltlik bir mektup dizisinin son cildi olarak 1893’te yayınlanmıştır.
Moltke Istanbul’da günümüzdeki adları ile Sarıyer, Üsküdar, Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Fatih bölgelerinde edindiği izlenimleri, Türkiye’den Mektuplar adlı sonradan kitap haline getirilen mektuplarında paylaşmıştır. Bu izlenimleri arasında genel ifadelerle bazı gözlemleri bulunurken, özellikle uzunca ve detaylıca anlatmayı tercih ettiği yapılar da bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile Moltke'nin kitabında yer verdiği bilgilerin ışığında İstanbul'un kitapta sözü geçen yerler üzerinden 180 yıllık değişiminin okunması hedeflenmiştir.

Although they were designed to survive for centuries during the period they were built, some buildings have become unusable with the loss of importance of business lines and have been left to their fate in cities for many years. the continuous change of production with today's technological speed and the loss of use of many industrial structures, which were used especially in the 19th century, brought the reuse of these structures and usage suggestions for different functions have been introduced.
Industrial heritage takes an important part in the sustainable development of the city. Olivetti's sustainable projects is mostly based on the link between an ethical concept and a development - oriented idea (Castano, Gallo, 2013). The spreading of industrial structures in the Olivetti campuses to the region, ensuring production and sales, attracted attention from service optimization to the quality of life and the environment. Understanding the philosophy of Olivetti Settlements, which look its place in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018, will contribute to the concept of the Industrial Heritage and the sustainable development of cities.
