Objective – Based on the theory of planned behaviour, this study empirically investigated and significantly validated the relationship among hedonistic buying orientation, utilitarian buying orientation, pro-environmental orientation. and willingness to patronise green hotels. Methodology/Technique – This quantitative study used the survey technique in data collection among hotel customers. 208 online surveys were gathered for data analysis. Sem-pls was used to analyse the hypothesised objectives. Findings – The findings indicated that pro-environmental values, hedonistic buying orientation and utilitarian buying orientation all have a positive and significant relationship with their willingness to patronise green hotels. Novelty - The value of this study lies in the novel use of consumer buying orientation as a predictive factor of consumers’ willingness to patronise green hotels, and to the best of the authors knowledge, it is among the first to empirically test such relationship....

An outstanding objective of the UN and EU in recent years is to improve the environment in which firms operate. This has increased pressures on companies from consumers, governments, and shareholders alike to develop and implement sustainable business practices. Literature has covered other strategic decisions that will improve a firms’ sustainable performance but no study has looked at this from a market-orientation perspective. However, a firm’s market orientation is regarded its capability that enables it to identify and respond to customers’ desires in order to deliver superior value to them. Other literature has affirmed market orientation as the most critical source of sustainable competitive advantage. Evidently, market-oriented companies can incorporate sustainability activities into their overall business strategies but there is a gap in knowledge as to what extent this affects firm sustainable performance. This conceptual paper, therefore, fills this gap, hence, analysed t...

Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) are businesses that help accelerate the rate of economic growth in low-income countries and also contribute to poverty alleviation if managed with the right leadership. However, in Ghana most SMEs fail in the first year of existence (Biekpe, 2004) due to numerous factors. This study therefore, examines the effect of owner/manager leadership styles and market orientation on the growth of SMEs in the Accra Metropolis. A total of 400 owner/managers were selected through the simple random sampling from a population of 3,474 manufacturing SMEs, using the Partial Least Square approach (PLS). Findings indicated that transformational leadership style of owner/managers had a positive and significant relationship with market orientation. Transactional leadership style on the other hand, showed a negative relationship to market orientation but a positive and significant relationship to SME growth. In conclusion, it was observed that no single individua...

Purpose of the Study: The University of Cape Coast in it bit to reduce graduate unemployment has introduced a university-wide entrepreneurship course for all non-business students. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the entrepreneurship course on their entrepreneurial intentions. Design/Methodology/Approach: Descriptive survey design was employed in the study. Based on the consecutive sampling technique, a sample of 1,200 students participated in the study. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze data. Findings: Results from the analysis showed influence of attitude (β = 0.321, p = 0.000) on entrepreneurial intention. Similarly, perceived behavioral control (β = 0.446, p = 0.000) also showed significant influence on entrepreneurial intention, whereas subjective norms (β = 0.032, p = 0.228), did not show any significant influence on entrepreneurial intentions. The overall joint significance of the antecedent factors explained 48% (r = 0.479, p < 0.01...

UN sustainable development goals has triggered production and consumption patterns aimed at achieving a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030. Initiatives that promote socially and environmentally responsible behavior whiles pursuing business value is being leveraged across all economic sectors. COVID-19 has exposed how today's business is threatened more than ever by unsustainable production and consumer behavior patterns. Research background: A considerable amount of research has been conducted on the riskiness associated with online transactions in general. However, few studies have paid particular attention to the risk of online second-hand goods transactions. We, therefore, argue in this paper that, while online transactions pose several risks to consumers, the addition of second-hand goods intensifies the risks to the user. As the risk factors brought about by the online second-hand goods transactions persist, the magnitude of such risk inherent in the customer in question has not clearly emerged. Purpose of the article: This paper aims at eliciting the magnitude of risky components aligned with the tendency to connect online in search of second-hand goods. Again, providing insight into demographic variables in relation to the pre-purchasing risk factors; averting customers to connect online in search of second-hand goods stands as one of the key reasons for the present study. Methods: The resear...
