In the present study the biochemical compositions of farm raised pabda (FP) and wild pabda (WP) caught from Gomti River of Tripura, India was analyzed to record their proximate compositions in terms of environmental and seasonal variations. Farm raised pabda (FP) and WP with similar length and weight were collected from College of Fisheries Tripura. The different biochemical, macro and micro mineral contents were examined monthly samples from July-2012 to February-2013. The parameters were recorded namely moisture, ash and protein content. The results showed that there was no significant differences (p>0.05) in FP and WP, except in lipid content which was higher in FP (6.73-7.32%) than in WP (5.35-7.26%). The seasonal variation in proximate composition was recorded as there was gradually increase in the protein and lipid content from the month July to February whereas the moisture content was decreased at same time. Similarly the mineral concentration showed the higher in WP comp...

The system identification is a broad area of research in various fields of engineering. Among them, our concern is to identify the aircraft dynamics by means of the measured motion and control variables using a new approach which is based on the support vector machine (SVM) regression. Due to the computational complexity of SVM, it is suggested to adopt the advanced version of SVM i.e. least square support vector machine (LSSVM) to be used for system identification. LSSVM regression is a network-based approach which requires a user defined kernel function and a set of input-output data for its training before the prediction phase like a neural-network (NN) based procedure. In this paper, LSSVM regression has been used to identify the non-linear dynamics of aircraft using real flight data.

Water quality information in aquatic ecosystem is crucial in setting up guideline for resource management. The biota in the surface water is governed entirely by various environmental conditions that determine the selection of species as the physiological performance of the individual organisms. This study explores the water quality status and pollution sources in Sur Sarovar (Keetham) Lake, Agra (Uttar Pradesh), water quality parameters analyze of five sampling zone was done from water samples collected monthly from September 2014 to July 2015. The primary production of organic matter, in the form of phytoplankton and macrophytes is more intense in Sur Sarovar (Keetham) Lake. In contrast to the chemical quality of water bodies, which can be measured by suitable analytical methods, biological quality is a combination of both qualitative and quantitative characterization. The present piece of research work is initiated on pollution status at Sur Sarovar (Keetham) Lake by interference...

The maximum likelihood estimators are commonly used in the estimation of aerodynamic model coefficients but, their performance depends on the initial guess values and the noise level of the data. Some of its variants are iterative in nature hence, computational cost is higher. An alternative investigation is performed with the artificial neural network (ANN) where an accurate non-linear mapping is produced with the input-output dataset. And further, the trained network is utilized in the Gauss-Newton based optimization process to estimate the optimal paramters. Our objective of the research is to produce an optimal neural network for non-linear mapping of the quasi steady stall data of aircraft and further, used it to estimate the aerodynamic coefficients. Finally, the validation of the estimates is presented with their Cramer-Rao bounds.

The parameter estimation of unstable aircraft using extreme learning machine method is presented. In the past, conventional methods such as output error method, filter error method, equation error method and non-conventional method such as artificial neural-network based methods have been used for aircraft’s aerodynamic parameter estimation. Nowadays, a trend of finding an accurate nonlinear function approximation is required to represent the aircraft’s equations-of-motion. Such type of nonlinear function approximation is usually achieved using artificial neural-network which is trained with the aircraft input-output flight data using a training algorithm. The accuracy of estimated parameters, which is achieved using the trained network, is highly dependent on the generalisation capability of the network which can be improved using extreme learning machine based network in contrast to artificial neural-network. To estimate the unstable aircraft parameters from the simulated flight d...

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the estimation methodology with a highly generalized cost-effective single hidden layer neural network. Design/methodology/approach The aerodynamic parameter estimation is a challenging research area of aircraft system identification, which finds various applications such as flight control law design and flight simulators. With the availability of the large database, the data-driven methods have gained attention, which is primarily based on the nonlinear function approximation using artificial neural networks. A novel single hidden layer feed-forward neural network (FFNN) known as extreme learning machine (ELM), which overcomes the issues such as learning rate, number of epochs, local minima, generalization performance and computational cost, as encountered in the conventional gradient learning-based FFNN has been used for the nonlinear modeling of the aerodynamic forces and moments. A mathematical formulation based on the partial ...

A  large  number  of  bacterial  illnesses  may  arise  from  the  consumption  of seafood  that  has  either  been  contaminated  at  source  or  which  becomes contaminated during the processing, handling, and retail chain. Such illnesses may arise from infection with the bacteria themselves or by the ingestion of toxins  formed  in  the  foodstuff  prior  to  consumption.  Seafood  commodities, wild and farmed, produced from bivalve mollusks, crustaceans, cephalopods or  finfish;  represent  some  of  the  most  important  protein  sources  in  human nutrition, having a reputation as healthy and nutritious products (Huss, 2003). Seafood-borne  diseases  of  microbiological  origin  can  be  caused  by  viable organisms and/or by toxins that they produce, which enter the gastrointestinal tract. Some seafood commodities are inherently more risky than others owing to  many  factors,  including  the  nature  of  the  environment  from  which  they come, their mode of feeding, the season during which they are harvested, and how they are prepared and served. The risk of disease from these agents varies by pathogen, dose, host and characteristics of the seafood matrix (HPA, 2009).

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antifertility efficacy of Coccinia indica and its possible mechanisms of action on testicular functions in Parkes male mice. Mice were orally administered 50% ethanolic leaf extract of Coccinia indica (200 and 500mgkg(-1) body weight day(-1)) or distilled water (controls) for 35days. To assess reversibility, additional mice were treated with 500mgkg(-1) body weight of Coccinia or distilled water for 35days and sacrificed 56days later. Several male reproductive parameters such as motility, viability, morphology and number of spermatozoa in the cauda epididymidis, histopathology, serum level of testosterone, and fertility indices were evaluated; further, activities of 3β- and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases, western blot analyses of StAR protein, cytochrome P450scc enzyme and of caspase-3, germ cell apoptosis by TUNEL, and lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzymes activities in the testis were assessed. Toxicological parameter...

Antifertility effects of Dalbergia sissoo in male mice were investigated. Adult Parkes strain male mice were orally administered aqueous leaf extract of Dalbergia sissoo (50 and 100 mg/kg body weight/day) or distilled water or no treatment (controls) for 35 days (n = 5/group). Motility, viability and number of spermatozoa in the cauda epididymidis; testis histology; serum level of testosterone; and toxicological parameters were evaluated. To assess reversibility, more mice were treated with 100 mg/kg body weight of Dalbergia sissoo or distilled water (n = 5/group) for 35 days and sacrificed 56 days later. Fertility was also assessed separately. Histologically, testes of Dalbergia-treated mice showed dissimilar degenerative changes in the seminiferous tubules. Significant reductions were noted (i) in epididymal sperm motility, viability and number, and (ii) in serum level of testosterone in Dalbergia-treated mice compared to controls. However, serum levels of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and creatinine, and haematological parameters were not affected. Also libido of Dalbergia-treated males showed no change, but their fertility was markedly suppressed. By 56 days of treatment withdrawal, alterations induced in the above parameters returned to control levels. Dalbergia sissoo treatment caused reversible suppression of spermatogenesis and fertility in P mice, without eliciting detectable toxic effects.
