CERN-LHC. Fiducial and differential measurements of $W^+W^-$ production in events with at least one hadronic jet are presented. These measurements are sensitive to the properties of gauge boson self interactions and provide a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics and the electroweak theory. The analysis is performed using proton--proton collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$. Events with exactly one oppositely charged electron-muon pair and at least one hadronic jet with a transverse momentum of $p_{\mathrm{T}}>30$ GeV and a pseudorapidity of $|\eta|<4.5$ are selected. After subtracting the background contributions and correcting for detector effects, the fiducial cross-section and the differential cross-sections with respect to several kinematic variables are measured. These measurements include leptonic quantities, like the lepton transverse momenta as well as the transverse ma...

These cross-section measurements are sensitive to the properties of electroweak-boson self-interactions and provide a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics and the electroweak theory. The analysis is performed using proton$-$proton collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=13~$TeV with the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139$~$fb$^{-1}$. Events are selected with exactly one oppositely charged electron$-$muon pair and at least one hadronic jet with a transverse momentum of $p_{\mathrm{T}}>30~$GeV and a pseudorapidity of $|\eta|<4.5$. After subtracting the background contributions and correcting for detector effects, the jet-inclusive $W^+W^-+\ge 1~$jet fiducial cross-section and $W^+W^-+$ jets differential cross-sections with respect to several kinematic variables are measured, thus probing a previously unexplored event topology ...

Possible single productions of the fourth standard model family charged leptons via anomalous interactions at the future ep colliders are studied. Signatures of such anomalous processes and backgrounds are discussed in detail.

The production of events containing high transversemomentum (pT) jets is a key signature of quantum chromodynamic (QCD) interactions between partons in pp collisions at large center-of-mass energies (ffiffiffi sp). The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) opens a window into the dynamics of interactions with high-pT jets in a new energy regime of ffiffiffi sp ¼ 7 TeV. QCD predicts the decorrelation in the azimuthal angle between the two most energetic jets, Á, as a function of the number of partons produced. Events with only two high-pT jets have ...

More than half a million minimum-bias events of LHC collision data were collected by the ATLAS experiment in December 2009 at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 TeV and 2.36 TeV. This paper reports on studies of the initial performance of the ATLAS detector from these data. Comparisons between data and Monte Carlo predictions are shown for distributions of several track-and calorimeter-based quantities. The good performance of the ATLAS detector in these first data gives confidence for successful running at higher ...
