The article primarily presents two small-sized finds from the group of the little-known chipped stone industry of the Proto-Eneolithic Jordanów culture in Bohemia. These chipped stone artefacts from Central Bohemia reflect human behaviour in settlement and mortuary contexts. The first find, a knife made of Baiersdorf tabular chert, was found at a settlement site from the upper phase of the Jordanów culture that had been reutilised as a splintered piece. This is typical of the Proto-Eneolithic and Early Eneolithic periods (e.g. the Funnel Beaker Culture). The second find was a blade of an earlier – perhaps from the Paleolithic period – which had been retrieved and retouched during the Eneolithic age and deposited in a grave dating from the upper phase of the Jordanów culture. The authors also draw attention to other constituent-related issues, such as the advent of flat retouched and longer blades during the Proto-Eneolithic period. The informative potential of the chipped stone industry for monitoring cultural and chronological issues has not yet been fully exploited. This also includes technological and typological changes and the differences between the Lengyel and Jordanów cultures.

Článek doplňuje, upřesňuje a aktualizuje poznání předneolitických lokalit v širším okolí Horažďovic na rozhraní Jihočeského a Plzeňského kraje, resp. horního a středního Pootaví. Vzácné doklady osídlení náleží magdalénienu (Dolní Poříčí 8), k zahuštění sítě lokalit dochází až v pozdním paleolitu a mezolitu.

A rescue excavation in Gotthardská Street in Prague 6 – Bubeneč (Fig. 1) in a place, where medieval and modern-era situations were documented, also brought the discovery of chipped stone industry in one of the corners of the excavation area, under the floor of demolished house no. 9 (Figs. 2–3). The artefacts were found in the upper part of loess loam, in an area with a concentration of stones, which had probably been brought to the site (Figs. 3–4). The tools made of erratic flint include a bec, fragments of borers, and possibly a point (Figs. 5–6). The is also evidence for on-site manufacture of burins. The low number of finds and the absence of distinctive tool types or other culturally specific elements make it impossible to decide whether the site should be culturally classified as the Epigravettian or the later Magdalenian.

The main objective of the article is to present knowledge of newly discovered sites in the mountainous environment of Šumava (Bohemian Forest). The fieldwork in 2011–2019 identified a total of 30 new sites that can be dated to the Late Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods. The research of prehistoric settlement of the mountainous regions of Bohemia remained a neglected topic for many years. The presence of hunters-gatherers in the mountains in the Mesolithic was documented by isolated finds from the Ore Mountains and a far greater number from Šumava in south Bohemia. This study presents the result of research conducted in three identified locations: in the floodplains of the Roklanský Stream, the Upper Vltava (Moldau) and the Křemelná Stream. The article documents that the network of sites in this space is relatively dense. Although remnants of intact situations are documented in rare cases, the dating of the majority of sites is based solely on lithic assemblages of varying size. Due to the fragmented condition of the obtained material, we discuss the extent to which it is possible to set the survey results in the broader context of central European Mesolithic settlement and present additional thoughts on the density, character and structure of the settlement of central European mountain ranges.

Vzhledem k rozptylu štípané kamenné industrie předpokládáme opakované osídlení v průběhu mezolitu, zastoupeného hlavně artefakty z lokálních surovin a křemenců středního Poohří. Oba soubory tvoří důležitou součást poznatků k mezolitu Karlovarska, který si zasluhuje další pozornost.
