This research builds on the complementary corporate social responsibility (CSR) literatures in strategy and marketing to provide insight into the efficacy of CSR as a challenger's competitive weapon against a market leader. Through an investigation of a real-world CSR initiative, we show that the challenger can reap superior business returns (i.e., more positive attitudinal and behavioral outcomes) among consumers who had participated in its CSR initiative, relative to those who were merely aware of the initiative. Specifically, participant consumers demonstrate the desired attitudinal and behavioral changes in favor of the challenger, regardless of their affective trust in the leader, whereas aware consumers' reactions become less favorable as their affective trust in the leader increases. Furthermore, participant consumers, but not aware ones, form a communal, trust-based bond with the challenger. This paper was accepted by Pradeep Chintagunta and Preyas Desai, special iss...

This study therefore aimed at to determine the role of supplier management practices in the optimization of operational performance in telecommunication service industry in Kenya. A case of Safaricom Kenya. The independent variable of this study are supplier selection process, supplier involvement practices, supplier development practices, and supplier monitoring programs while the dependent variable of the study is optimization of operational performance. Theories relevant to this study were Transaction Cost Theory, Resource Dependency Theory, Social Capital Theory and Deming's theory of Total Quality Management. Study variables were discussed under the conceptual framework after that operationalized. The target population constitutes of Safaricom employees involved in procurement operation and suppliers of both at headquarters and other customer care centers with a sample size of 50 staffs and suppliers. Stratified random sampling was carried out. The research instruments that were used included printed questionnaires. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools, and SPSS version 21 was used to process the collected data which was then to be presented in the form of tables. Correlation analysis was conducted to describe the strength of the linear relationship between two variable which indicated that 76.2% of change of Optimization of Operational performance was explained by the four variables namely; supplier selection process, supplier development programs, supplier involvement, supplier monitoring programs and revealed that they play a significant role in optimizing of operational performance. The study recommends that management of companies in telecommunication industry should embrace overall effective and efficient supplier management practices that focus on long-term goals of the organization.

Credit remains one of the main sources of income for any banks globally. However, this exposes the banks and other financial institutions to credit risk as there is a possibility of non-payment of the loan by the borrowers as per the contractual obligations. Assessing and managing this risk is becoming a crucial factor for every commercial bank across the world. This study therefore, sought to determine the effect of credit risk determinants on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The data set comprised the 41 commercial banks in Kenya as of the year 2021. The determinants of credit risk for this study were Capital Adequacy (CA), Loan Loss Provision (LLP), Liquidity Risk (LR), and Asset Quality (AQ). The financial performance of the banks under study was measured by the Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). These ratios indicated the financial performance in terms of the profitability of the banks under study as far as the efficient utilization of assets of these banks, and the ability of the banks to utilize money invested by investors to create profit. The study used secondary data from the annual financial statements of the 41 commercial banks in Kenya for five years from the year 2017-to 2021 (panel data). Both correlation and inferential statistics designs were used to complete the resulted analysis from the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to explain the effect of credit risk determinants on financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. The study found that capital adequacy had a direct significant effect on financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya (p= 0.001, β= 0.164). Loan loss provision registered an indirect significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya (p= 0.000, β=-0.325). The study further found that liquidity risk had an indirect significant effect on financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya (p= 0.000, β=-0.568). The study also found that asset quality had a positive insignificant effect on financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya (p= 0.114, β= 0.089). Generally, the study concluded that credit risk determinants had a statistically significant effect on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya (R-square= 0.875, p-value= 0.000). The study recommends that the regulatory authority for the commercial banks, Central Bank of Kenya should enhance its oversight on the compliance of developed policies guiding the operation of commercial banks to enable them to continue with adequate financial performance.

Leadership is described as "a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task". Its generalized Ulam Hyers stability in Banach space using direct and fixed point methods are investigated. An application of this functional equation is also studied.
