A few late medieval chronicles and early modern histories about the Dutch city of 's-Hertogenbosch (in Noord-Brabant province) mention the killing and burning of a large group of Jews in the time just before or around the foundation of the city towards the end of the twelfth century. All sources state that the burning took place at the Vughtherheide (Vught Heath), where the Jewish cemetery is. This cemetery still exists and can be proven to be old, but whether it dates back to around 1200 is unclear and depends on the credibility of the chroniclers. The aim of this article is to analyse the relevant statements in the chronicles, to discuss the pros and contras of their credibility and to try to give a context for their place within the chronicles.

Dialektliteratur in Nord-Brabant Nord-Brabant ist eine große Provinz im Süden der Niederlande, die vor allem in Ost-West-Richtung eine große Diversität an Dialekten aufweist. In der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts begannen einige Schriftsteller, in Pamphleten, Reisebeschreibungen und Kurzgeschich-ten auch im Dialekt zu schreiben. Sie taten dies, um das Lokalkolo-rit widerzuspiegeln oder um Beispiele im Dialekt zu geben, also aus sprachwissenschaftlichem Interesse. Diese Situation veränderte sich erst nach 1920. Vor allem Missionare nutzten dann die Dialekte, um Gedichte und-in geringerer Zahl-Kurzgeschichten zu schreiben. Es handelte sich um Priester aus dem gewöhnlichen Volk mit guter Aus-bildung, die in ihrer Missionsarbeit mit fremden Sprachen in Kontakt kamen und Heimweh nach der Stadt oder dem Dorf ihrer Jugend hat-ten. Ihre Arbeiten wurden von anderen Schriftstellern, Priestern und Schulmeistern gut aufgenommen. So erreichte der Dialekt auch das Amateurtheater. In der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts herrscht das Gefühl vor, den Dialekt vor dem Aussterben retten zu müssen. Volks-lieder und manchmal auch Erzählungen wurden niedergeschrieben, Wörterbücher erstellt, und wer Prosa oder Poesie im Dialekt verfasste, tat das fast immer aus Nostalgie. Im letzten Jahrzehnt des 20. Jahrhun-derts entdeckten jüngere Künstler den Dialekt als Mittel, um in Musik und Theater einen neuen, eigenen, verspielten und oft absurden Ton zu erzeugen. Bei den älteren Generationen finden diese jüngeren Künstler kaum Anschluss. Daneben gibt es einige jüngere Schriftsteller, die die nostalgische Strömung hinter sich gelassen haben und nach einer au-thentischen Dialektliteratur streben, die-so klein die Wirkungskreise auch sein mögen-von Qualität und Lebenskraft geprägt ist.

In the second half of the sixteenth century, Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria founded in Munich one of the largest Kunstkammern of his time. The earliest full inventory of this collection dates from 1598, but earlier archival documents concerning the collecting activities of the Duke and his agents have been preserved, mainly in the Bavarian State Archives. This article presents a full edition of the earliest documents referring to objects of Mexican provenance, which formed part of a larger gift by the Cardinal Francesco de'Medici, presented in May 1572. The text has been completed with the aid of documents from the State Archive in Florence, and the inventory found in the correspondence is translated and commented upon.
