    We examine non-linear sigma (plus Skyrme term) model in flat space, in particular with a twist, which comprises a twisted Skyrmion string solution with an added dependence on a twist term $mkz$, where $z$ is the vertical coordinate. We find that the solutions have asymptotic form. We also find that mass per unit length of string, $\mu$, increases roughly linearly with $\zeta$, where $\zeta=4\lambda^2K_s(mk)^2$, $\lambda$ is scaling constant, $K_s$ is Skyrme term, $m$ is integrer and $k$ is wave number.

    We study nonlinear sigma model, especially Skyrme model without twist and Skyrme model with twist: twisted Skyrme model. Twist term, $mkz$, is indicated in vortex solution. We are interested to construct a space-time containing a string with Lagrangian plus a twist. To add gravity, we replace $\eta^{\mu\nu}$ in Lagrangian system with $g^{\mu\nu}$ where $g^{\mu\nu}$ is the metric tensor of the space-time. We assume that space-time is static and cylindrically symmetric. Einstein equations are derived from Einstein-Hilbert action $I = \int{\sqrt{(-g)}(R+\kappa~\mathcal{L}_4)}~ d^{4}x$ where $R$ is Ricci scalar, $\kappa$ is coupling constant between gravity and matter, $\mathcal{L}_4$ is matter part of twisted Skyrme gravity model.     The refractive index and curved space relation is formulated using the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor. As a consequence of the fourth rank tensor of the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor, the refractive index should be a second rank tensor. The second rank tensor of the refractive index describes a linear optics. In case of a non-linear optics, if susceptibility is a fourth rank tensor, then the refractive index is a sixth rank tensor. In a topological space, the linear and non-linear refractive indices are related to the Euler-Poincare characteristic. Because the Euler-Poincare characteristic is a topological invariant then the linear and non-linear refractive indices are also topological invariants.

    The refractive index and curved space relation is formulated using the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor. As a consequence of the fourth rank tensor of the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor, we found that the refractive index should be a second rank tensor. The second rank tensor of the refractive index describes a linear optics. It implies naturally that the Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor is related to the linear optics. In case of a non-linear optics, the refractive index is a sixth rank tensor, if susceptibility is a fourth rank tensor. The Riemann-Christoffel curvature tensor can be formulated in the non-linear optics but it is reduced by a gradient of susceptibility term.

    We investigate the propagation of electromagnetic waves in transverse magnetic (TM) mode through the structure of materials interface that have permittivity or permeability profile graded positive-negative using asymptotic iteration method (AIM). As the optical character of materials, the permittivity and the permeability profiles have been designed from constant or hyperbolic functions. In this work we show the approximate solution of magnetic field distribution and the eight models of wave vector of materials or interface positive-negative gradation.
