The establishment of the imperial state by Peter the Great led to the birth in Russia of the modern literary system. The Imperial Sublime examines the rise of the Russian empire as a literary theme alongside the creation and evolution of modern Russian poetry between the 1730s and 1840. Arising from the need to glorify the Russian state and its expanding territories, the imperial theme quickly became enmeshed in a wider range of issues, from formal problems of genre, style and lyric voice to the vexed relationship between the poet and Russia's ruling monarchs. From this arose a specifically Russian tradition of linking poetics and politics, which I term the "imperial sublime." Whether utilised in praise of the tsar or to question his authority, the imperial sublime provided a powerful means of formulating the relationship of poetic language to the state: the reconstruction of this genealogy allows us to see the connections between Petrine ideologies of the state Boileau's revival of the Longinian sublime, and the enthusiastic adaptation in Russia of new genres such as the ode and even the elegy.

depreciativa, de modo a configurar o que denominamos aqui de antiode. A tríade Clero-Estado-Burguesia consiste, resumidamente, no objeto de análise
crítica da estética realista, que, em Eça e, sobretudo, em Os Maias, adquire magnitude de uma panorâmica social bem construída, principalmente, em relação à Burguesia, classe dominante e berço das personagens aqui analisadas. Este último elemento da tríade insere-se na nossa abordagem, uma vez que se lhe destinam críticas vigorosas mediante tais figuras femininas, representativas de um estereótipo.

Modelling density driven flow problems requires an excessive computational time and/or heavy equipments due to the non-linear coupling between flow and transport equations. In this work, we develop a robust numerical model with efficient advanced approximations for both spatial and temporal discretizations in order to reduce the excessive computational requirement while maintaining accuracy.The spatial discretization is based upon the lumped formulation of the mixed finite element method for the flow equation, the discontinuous Galerkin method for advection and the multipoint flux approximation method for dispersion. The method of lines (MOL) is used to allow higher-order temporal discretization of the coupled flow-transport system. The developed model adapts in both the order of approximation and time step to provide the necessary accuracy.Standard numerical test cases as well as a laboratory scale experiment with a high viscosity contrast between injected and displaced fluids are simulated to show drawbacks of the standard approach and to highlight the efficiency, accuracy and robustness of the developed model for density driven flow problems.

In this paper we propose a method for solving complex higher order ordinary differential equations (ODE) based on an emulation of the analog computing paradigm on digital hardware platforms. In this case, we mimic real analog system elements by digital discretized models. Due to the flexibility and reconfigurability of FPGA and also the possibility of system behavioral modeling through hardware description languages (HDL), we are able to create all fundamental elements that are necessary to both simulating complex systems and the modeling of any ordinary differential equations (ODE) or a system simulation based on ODEs. We therefore propose a novel methodology of solving systems and higher order ODEs. This technique is similar to the analog computing but with the key difference that we possess more flexibility and are able to control at will the precision level wanted/needed. Further features are values scaling of both the results and internal variables.

The present paper demonstrates the route used for solving differential equations for the engineering applications at UAEU. Usually students at the Engineering Requirements Unit (ERU) stage of the Faculty of Engineering at the UAEU must enroll in a course of Differential Equations and Engineering Applications (MATH 2210) as a prerequisite for the subsequent stages of their study. Mainly, one of the objectives of this course is that the students practice MATLAB software package during the course. The aim of using this software is to solve differential equations individually and as a system of equation in parallel with analytical mathematics trends. Rodent self-grooming is an important, evolutionarily conserved behavior, highly sensitive to pharmacological and genetic manipulations. Mice with aberrant grooming phenotypes are currently used to model various human disorders. Therefore, it is critical to understand the biology of grooming behavior, and to assess its translational validity to humans. The present in-silico study used publicly available gene expression and behavioral data obtained from several inbred mouse strains in the open-field, light-dark box, elevated plus- and elevated zero-maze tests. As grooming duration differed between strains, our analysis revealed several candidate genes with significant correlations between gene expression in the brain and grooming duration. Organic dust exposure in the agricultural industry results in significant airway disease and lung function decrease. Mononuclear phagocytes are key cells that mediate the inflammatory and innate immune response after dust exposure.We sought to investigate the effect of organic dust extract (ODE) from modern swine operations on monocyte-derived macrophage (MDM) phenotype and function.Peripheral blood monocytes were obtained by means of elutriation methodology (>99% CD14+) and differentiated into macrophages in the presence of GM-CSF (1 week) with and without ODE (0.1%). At 1 week, cells were analyzed by means of flow cytometry for cell-surface marker expression (HLA-DR, CD80, CD86, Toll-like receptor 2, Toll-like receptor 4, mCD14, and CD16), phagocytosis (IgG-opsonized zymosan particles), and intracellular killing of Streptococcus pneumoniae. At 1 week, MDMs were rechallenged with high-dose ODE (1%), LPS, and peptidoglycan (PGN), and cytokine levels (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10, and CXCL8/IL-8) were measured. Comparisons were made to MDMs conditioned with heat-inactivated dust, endotoxin-depleted dust, LPS, and PGN to elucidate ODE-associated factors.Expression of HLA-DR, CD80, and CD86; phagocytosis; and intracellular bacterial killing were significantly decreased with ODE-challenged versus control MDMs. Responses were retained after marked depletion of endotoxin. PGN, LPS, and PGN plus LPS significantly reduced MDM surface marker expression and, except for LPS alone, also reduced phagocytosis. ODE-challenged MDMs had significantly diminished cytokine responses (TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-10) after repeat challenge with high-dose ODE. Cross-tolerant cytokine responses were also observed.Repetitive organic dust exposure significantly decreases markers of antigen presentation and host defense function in MDMs. Bacterial cell components appear to be driving these impaired responses.

We consider boundary output feedback stabilization for a one-dimensional anti-stable wave equation subject to general control matched disturbance. The active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) approach is adopted in investigation. Using the output of the system, we first design a variable structure unknown input type state observer which is shown to be exponentially convergent. The disturbance is estimated, in real time, through an extended state observer for an ODE reduced from the PDE observer. The disturbance is then canceled in the feedback loop by its approximated value. The stability of the resulting closed-loop system is proven. Simulation results are presented to validate the theoretical conclusions and to exhibit the peaking value reduction by time varying gain instead of constant high gain.

Abstract We obtain exact implicit solutions of the third order ordinary differential equation y ' ' ' = y − n for the first time. These exact solutions are obtained using λ-symmetry reduction method, when n =(5/2) and n =(5/4). The obtained solutions are valid for the general initial conditions y ( α ) = γ , y ′ ( α ) = δ , y ″ ( α ) = β . It is shown that the contact angle ∅=90° when n =(5/2), and it varies with the initial conditions when n =(5/4).
