("CAPITOLIUM", 2003)

Benito Mussolini portrayed himself as a valiant sportsman, able to perform an astounding number of disciplines: equestrian, fencing, swimming, skiing, tennis, boxing, walking, rifle shooting. Mussolini's enthusiasm for being seen and photographed in athletic pose demonstrated to the world his virility, plus that the regime and the race. Introducing a new style of politics that John Hoberman terms 'political athleticism'. Our essay offers a complete panorama of “Mussolini as a Sportsman”, including 141 photographs and documents.
