metajournalistic discourses, and shifts in how professionals make sense of their work. Our findings contribute to the broader literature by investigating how traditional borders and values of journalism are renegotiated during institutional crises. In addition, our analytical framework can be applied to other media settings experiencing similar
tensions and help underpin the construction of empirical variables to understand meaningful changes in the field. Lastly, this study considers the possible effects that change in norms, routines, and practices can have on the democratic roles of journalism.

and new technologies of communication and information, its potentialities, problems and perspectives. To admit that new technologies of communication revolutionize democracy is not only to adhere to a triunfalist perspective. It implies, also, in accepting that democracy have some lacks that compromise its superiority while government form. On the other hand, to deny the potential of these technologies for concerting different ways of political manifestation, inclusively from the civil sphere, is not a satisfactory view. One examine five class of manifest phenomena in the thelematics nets with implications in the political field: Electronic Government, Electronic Vote, Digital Activism, Parties and Campaign in a Digital Age and Virtual Public Sphere. The central hypothesis comprises that democracy has in the Internet a complementar channel to foster the participation of citizens and to conform spaces of debate and information, besides indicating changes in the relations between institutional agents (government and partisan clubs) and civil sphere.
in Brazil have been influenced by interviews with politicians. The most relevant national TV show bringing this kind of content is Roda Viva, aired since 1986 by the public broadcaster TV Cultura. Considering Roda Viva’s role, the relevance of its debates throughout the 2018 presidential election, and how adversarial and lapdog journalism unfolded during each show, we analyze the interviews carried out with nine mainstream candidates. To understand how adversarial behaviors are manifested,
we observe the roles of themediator, the professional features of interviewers, and the number of interventions of each agent, among other aspects. Even though all Roda Viva interviews follow the same script, the results indicate that the level of adversarialism varies from one program to another. The antagonistic behavior manifested by interviewers and interviewees depends on (1) the person who is being interviewed (and if he/she adopts or not a hostile or aggressive attitude), and (2) the professional affiliation of the interviewers (a panel formed entirely by journalists tend to be more adversarial, while interviewers with mixed backgrounds usually take a more sympathetic approach).
Explores pertinent/salient topics within political science, sociology, psychology, communication and many other disciplines.
Theory, empirical research and academic as well as professional debate are widely covered in this truly international and comparative work.
Provides clear definitions and explanations which are both cross-national and cross-disciplinary by nature.
Offers an unprecedented level of authority, accuracy and balance, with contributions from leading international experts in their associated fields."
