La alimentación no es en ninguna sociedad una mera ingestión de nutrientes, sino un fenómeno más complejo cargado de simbolismo y significado. Alrededor de la alimentación se desarrollan ideas, pensamientos y costumbres, y, junto a otros elementos, conforman la cultura. Los huertos urbanos comunitarios son espacios donde
la cultura alimentaria de una parte de la sociedad se representa, pero también representan una visión de la sociedad mucho más profunda, la de un estilo de vida. En los huertos urbanos comunitarios se manifiestan numerosas ideas, pensamientos, y deseos que se derivan tanto de un constructo cultural, así como de las necesidades más inherentes de las personas. Los huertos urbanos se proyectan como herramientas para
promover una alimentación y estilo de vida saludables a partir de la detección de su potencial como herramienta educativa, social, terapéutica, etc. ante la presencia de nuevas necesidades de la población urbana. El objetivo de este proyecto pretendía mostrar las impresiones de los participantes de un huerto urbano comunitario en
Alemania para conocer sus visiones y sentimientos acerca del huerto comunitario y su participación en él, y confirmar la hipótesis de que entre esas razones había un fuerte deseo de establecer contacto con la naturaleza, refiriéndonos a este término como un elemento tanto presente en el entorno así como haciendo referencia a la necesidades
biológicas de las personas. Las impresiones recogidas mostraron una gran diversidad de motivaciones y visiones en relación con el huerto, entre las cuales se expresaban repetidamente aspectos relacionados con la naturaleza, tales como el deseo de contribuir al medio ambiente, enverdecer las ciudades, estar más en contacto con los procesos
naturales del entorno o reconectar con la naturaleza humana. Este anhelo de contacto con la naturaleza que se busca en la ciudad, parece satisfacerse mediante el cultivo de alimentos en el huerto.

The following study is built on the theory that during childhood we are exposed to
socially elaborated discourse that influences our knowledge framework and ideas over
gender identities. Children's literature intended for the early childhood is a socializing
instrument in which the description of daily activities where family members are
represented contributes to the spread of ideological mind-sets that end up constituting
the social construct of children.
In recent decades society has experienced certain changes that have helped towards the
fight for gender equality. Past and current children's narrative reflects these changes.
Despite the transformation many stereotypical conceptions about gender still persist.
Within children's narrative stereotypical portrayals of adults according to their gender
are often intentionally —or not— and subtlety —or not— reflected. These portrayals
promote a kind of socialization that perpetuates traditional gender roles and concepts
established under the dichotomy of feminine versus masculine. Often it is hard to
identify these elements due to them often forming part of the adult’s social construct.
This study aims to analyze Spanish children's narrative from the 21st century through
critical discourse analysis to see the discursive trends currently present in a corpus of
ten Spanish children’s books. It also aims to see whether the current narrative serves to
perpetuate a dichotomous conception of gender that transmits erroneous and
discriminatory messages concerning gender to new generations or, contrarily, if these
stereotypes are broken or simply inexistent. The results show that although nonstereotyping
elements are present, elements of stereotyping were predominant within
character representations, in the actions they carried out and the relationships
established between characters.
