The purpose of the following work is to examine the role of the citation in Constantine Christomanos’s Tagebuchblätter. In the first place, it is generally presented how the narrator depicts Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Although he meticulously describes her physical appearance and her melancholic beauty, he mostly insists on portraying her personality and revealing her way of thinking. Moreover, our research examines the function of citations which serve as a means for the narrator so as to offer a more precise image of Elisabeth’s character unveiling not only her thoughts and fears but also her disillusionment and chagrin about her life. This work is mainly focused on Heinrich Heine’s and Henrik Ibsen’s citations as they are the most extended and they divulge some crucial aspects of Elisabeth’s character which otherwise would have stayed obscure.

Σκοπός της συγκεκριμένης εργασίας είναι να εξεταστεί η προσωπικότητα της Αυτοκράτειρας Ελισάβετ όπως αυτή παρουσιάζεται από τον συγγραφέα-αφηγητή καθώς και ο τρόπος με τον οποίο η περιγραφή του χαρακτήρα και των σκέψεών της συμπληρώνονται από τα ποιητικά παραθέματα. Αφού γίνει αναφορά τόσο σε αποσπάσματα από ποιητές όπως, μεταξύ άλλων, του  μήρου και του Dante Gabriel Rossetti όσο και σε έμμετρα θεατρικά έργα όπως του William Shakespeare, θα εξεταστούν ενδελεχώς τα ποιητικά αποσπάσματα των Heine και Ibsen, τα οποία παρουσιάζουν ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τη σκιαγράφηση του χαρακτήρα της Αυτοκράτειρας.
Αρχικά, θα πρέπει να σημειωθεί ότι ο συγγραφέας-αφηγητής σε αρκετά σημεία του έργου του αναφέρεται στον Heine, χωρίς όμως να παραθέτει αποσπάσματα από τα ποιήματά του. Τρία είναι τα ποιητικά παραθέματα του Heine στο έργο του  ωνσταντίνου Χρηστομάνου. Στην πρώτη περίπτωση, η Αυτοκράτειρα χρησιμοποιεί ένα ποίημα του Heine για να σχολιάσει τον κόσμο και τον τρόπο, που αυτός δημιουργήθηκε και λειτουργεί. Στη δεύτερη περίπτωση, η Αυτοκράτειρα απάντα σε κάποιο σχόλιο του συγγραφέα-αφηγητή σχετικό με το τοπίο που έχουν μπροστά τους. Σε αυτό το σημείο έχουμε μια τελείως διαφορετική χρήση του ποιητικού παραθέματος, εφόσον χρησιμοποιείται με εμφανή πρόθεση αν όχι ειρωνείας, τουλάχιστον πικρού χιούμορ. Στην τρίτη περίπτωση, ο  ωνσταντίνος Χρηστομάνος και η Αυτοκράτειρα βρίσκονται στη θάλασσα σχολιάζοντας την εικόνα της.  συγγραφέας-αφηγητής είναι εδώ αυτός που επιλέγει να χρησιμοποιήσει κάποια αποσπάσματα από ένα ποίημα του Heine, το οποίο αναφέρεται στη μανιασμένη θάλασσα, και κατόπιν στη χλωμή γυναίκα που την αγναντεύει, η οποία ταυτίζεται με την Αυτοκράτειρα.
Επίσης, γίνεται συχνή αναφορά στο θεατρικό έργο Peer Gynt του Ibsen.  ιο συγκεκριμένα, ο συγγραφέας-αφηγητής παραθέτει ένα εκτενές απόσπασμα από το εν λόγω έργο, το οποίο θα εξεταστεί στην παρούσα εργασία. Η περίπτωση αυτού του παραθέματος είναι ιδιαίτερη, γιατί το ποιητικό κείμενο στο οποίο αναφέρεται, είναι μελοποιημένο, παραπέμποντάς μας έτσι όχι μόνο σε ποιητικό λόγο, αλλά και σε μουσική.
Τα συγκεκριμένα, λοιπόν, ποιητικά παραθέματα έχουν δεσπόζουσα σημασία, καθώς συμπληρώνουν το κείμενο και προσδίδουν εγκυρότητα σε όσα έχει να πει ο συγγραφέας-αφηγητής.

Proust has shown little interest in the decorative arts of his time, but his work bears the mark of the "submarine style" distinctive of Art nouveau. The low bookshelves with glass panes in the Grand Hôtel room at Balbec ― the symbol of À la Recherche’s unity, according to Georges Poulet in Proustian Space ― prove to be authentic witnesses of “modern style”. But what does “modern style” actually mean? À la Recherche includes five occurrences of the expression that could lead to misunderstanding. Contrary to a preconceived idea, it is not the English name for Art nouveau. This French coined anglicism refers to the international revival of the decorative arts at the beginning of the twentieth century, a fascinating but disturbing blend of aesthetics and social ideas. Proust detected at once and discreetly highlighted the cosmopolitan and "rastaquouère" (so to speak "métèque") inspiration of an ephemeral artistic movement contemporary with the Dreyfus affair. Enriched with an abundant and entirely original iconography, full of new discoveries and identifications, Rastaquarium brings back to life an epoch of which the novelist caught the essence. For the first time the whole question of decorative arts in À la recherche is fully tackled in all its ramifications, in a fascinating instance of the network of connections at the heart of Proust’s system.

Proust n’a manifesté que bien peu d’intérêt pour les arts décoratifs de son temps, mais son œuvre ponctuée d’aquariums est marquée par le «style sous-marin» caractéristique de l’Art nouveau. Les «bibliothèques vitrées» de la chambre de Balbec ― dans lesquelles Georges Poulet voyait le symbole de l’unité de l’œuvre ― se révèlent d’authentiques témoins du «modern style». Mais qu’est-ce que le «modern style»? L’expression, qui revient cinq fois dans À la Recherche du temps perdu, n’avait jamais vraiment été élucidée. Contrairement à une idée reçue, ce n’est en rien le nom anglais de l’Art nouveau. Cet anglicisme bien français désigne un renouveau international des arts décoratifs qui, mêlant esthétique et idées sociales, fascine et inquiète… Proust a parfaitement perçu et discrètement mis en valeur l’inspiration cosmopolite et «rastaquouère» d’un courant artistique dont le bref épanouissement coïncide avec les années de l’affaire Dreyfus. Enrichi d’une vaste iconographie, entièrement originale, fourmillant de trouvailles et d’identifications nouvelles, Rastaquarium fait revivre une époque dont l’écrivain a su capter l’essentiel. Toujours abordée de façon fragmentaire, la question des arts décoratifs dans la Recherche n’avait jamais été traitée dans son ensemble, seule manière de saisir les réseaux de correspondances si chers à Proust.

Edebiyatın Omzundaki Melek, edebiyatın tarihle nasıl bir ilişki kurduğunu araştırıyor. Bunu yaparken tarihin, edebiyatın dinamiklerini ve bağlamını kaçınılmaz olarak belirlemesinin yanı sıra edebiyat metninin, kurmacanın tarihyazımı ile etkileşimini ve edebiyat tarihçiliği anlayışını sorguluyor. Bunun yanı sıra bir kimlik sorunu olarak edebiyat- tarih ilişkisine de odaklanıyor.

Ernst Robert Curtius is well known as an advocate of European literature, which transcends national boundaries. Most importantly, he is recognized as a literary historian, who wrote European Literature and the Latin Middle Ages (Europäische Literatur und lateinisches Mittelalter, 1948). Nevertheless, Curtius published a lot of critical works during the inter-war years and after World War II. In order to consider the processes through which he developed a European spirit, I would like to focus on his literary critics concerning contemporary writers like Romain Rolland, André Gide, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, and José Ortega y Gasset. I pay particular attention to Curtius' network of friendships with these writers and try to reconsider the relation between his journalistic works and European Literature and the Latin Middle Ages.

¿Cuál es el método adecuado para lograr un acercamiento crítico pertinente a la literatura? ¿Es este el propósito que persigue la teoría literaria o, por el contrario, esta disciplina pretende mostrar su autonomía respecto de las necesidades del lector especializado y su objeto de estudio? ¿La teoría literaria es una herramienta crítica para el profesional de la literatura o constituye un fin en sí mismo, regido por leyes internas y objetivas? El objeto de estudio que Compagnon analiza es la teoría literaria moderna, aquella que examina los discursos sobre literatura, sobre su crítica.

No ano de 2015 comemorou-se o centenário de nascimento de Roland Barthes. Em meio aos inúmeros eventos e aos muitos livros que celebraram as ideias e as obras do grande escritor francês, seu mais famoso discípulo, Antoine Compagnon, de-cidiu tornar pública sua intimidade com Barthes. Em A era das cartas, ele refaz o percurso de sua relação com o mestre, a partir da releitura de cartas guardadas havia muito tempo, revisitando lugares que agora só existem em sua memória. Restaurantes e cafés do Quartier Latin se tornam palco de anedotas e de reflexões sobre a obra barthesiana, proporcionando ao leitor uma volta à Paris fervilhante do mundo universitário dos anos de 1970, vista com os olhos do então jovem estudante que encontrou no mestre um amigo.

Cette présentation, « Entre littérature et peinture, la modernité comme “effet de discours” chez Ponge et Paulhan », s’intéresse à la notion de « modernité » telle qu’elle se voit construite dans les écrits sur la peinture chez Jean Paulhan – notamment dans La Peinture cubiste (1970) L’Art informel (1962) – et chez Ponge – dans Le Peintre à l’étude (1948).

O presente trabalho procura elementos passíveis de aproximação entre as práticas da tradução e da citação, partindo das respectivas problematizações: 1) A tradução entendida não como transporte de unidades de sentido, mas como esforço de construção de uma relação com o outro; 2) A citação como elemento de acomodação, reconhecimento e integração com outros textos, ou ainda, enquanto recorte e apropriação do texto citado pelo autor ou texto citante. Se todos os textos são, em alguma medida, engendrados a partir da relação com outros textos e constituídos a partir da citação – operadora trivial da intertextualidade –, reconhece-se no trabalho da citação a mesma mecânica da relação desempenhada na prática de tradução, no sentido de ambos se revelarem um ato de apropriação do discurso do outro, ou seja, um movimento não neutro em que tomamos o outro por uma imagem que dele fazemos e que, por isso, o reconstruímos, assimilamos ao nosso próprio discurso, já que a ideia desse outro se forma também como parte da percepção que carregamos de nós próprios. Em suma, não se pretende equivaler a citação à tradução, mas evidenciar o que as aproxima, o processo no qual e pelo qual se realizam: a relação

This chapter deals with the related concepts of 'anti-moderne' and 'arrière-garde' as they were developed by the French critics Antoine Compagnon and William Marx. In this chapter I hope to make clear, not only what the concepts stand for in their respective critical reflections, but also how they sustain a new attempt at the historiography of modern(ist) literature.

Resumen: La teoría literaria, tal como surge en Francia a mediados de los años sesenta, supuso una crisis disciplinaria que partía de una problematización del lenguaje y de la literatura que transformó de raíz los modos de lectura contemporáneos. Este artículo se detiene en algunos momentos destacados de esta historia francesa para aislar cuál es el valor político y epistemológico otorgado a la literatura y a la teoría literaria por los principales discursos críticos que se han sucedido desde Sartre hasta Compagnon. El estudio retrospectivo de esta historia permite señalar cuáles fueron los principales momentos de ruptura y en qué sentido la teoría literaria podría, o no, prolongar por ella misma una cierta política de la literatura.

No texto, falo das consequências nem sempre profícuas da decadência das concepções tradicionais de crítica literária. Parto da constatação de que, de forma especial no século XX, um tipo de discussão conceitual preocupada em definir claramente o âmbito próprio da crítica e da teoria literárias (seus métodos, sua linguagem própria, seus objetivos, etc.) tomou proporções mais gerais devido à estreita relação que se estabeleceu entre a nova e inovadora teoria literária e algumas correntes linguísticas, filosóficas, sociológicas e psicanalíticas que dominavam o ambiente acadêmico, principalmente em países como Rússia, França, Inglaterra e Estados Unidos. Dessa relação – e de forma diferente em cada caso – renasceu a pretensão de se criar uma ciência da literatura, dotada de metodologia rigorosa e de terminologia conceitual nova, comparável a das chamadas ciências naturais ou exatas, o que acabou por estigmatizar as formas de crítica tradicionais – entre elas a tradição crítica humanista.

Defendo que a concepção de teoria literária como metacrítica, algo que estaria acima das contingências, pode levar muitas vezes a excessos perigosos.

Cinema e teoria literária: comentários sobre o filme "Blowup", de 1966.
Nesta atividade, vamos tentar trabalhar com elementos teóricos de simulacro e associá-los ao filme Blowup de 1966, Reino Unido, dirigido pelo cineasta italiano Michelangelo Antonioni. Não pretendemos promover uma crítica aos atores e suas atuações ou remeter a fama que o filme conquistou, mas tomá-lo em si como um possível exemplo para dialogar com os teóricos Antoine Compagnon e Jean Baudrillard. A teoria da mimese é uma das mais antigas questões ocidentais, desde os antigos gregos com seus poetas, artistas e filósofos. Qual o limite da arte? Quando é ficção? O que é real? Essas fronteiras ainda são muito estudadas nas universidades. Quanto mais aderimos ao mundo virtual, atualmente, certamente geramos um estreitamento entre essas fronteiras do fictício e do real. Por que estar no virtual, não seria isso o real para tanta gente hoje? O que é ficção em um filme? Quais os elementos ficcionais da realidade?

ABSTRACT
Theory, in the broad field of the Humanities, Literature and the Arts, should be understood as both an intensive examination and a traveling, comparative point of view. It is akin to parody, due to its displaced, ironical and re-creative character, that it shares with interlinguistic and transmedial translation. It cannot and should not be firmly rooted in a particular place or historical moment without dying in the form of doctrine or dogma. But the exercise of theoretical power also depends on the relative stability of its institutions. From the 1980s onwards, the Centre called ‘Paris’ lost this power because it ignored both the de-centred appropriations it unwillingly made possible and the exotic origins of its own emergence. This de-theorization is nevertheless dangerous, because the place it leaves vacant is managed by the brainless and insensitive law of ‘the market’. Theory is not ideology, it is the responsible self-consciousness of the interests involved in comparing and linking. Formerly marginalized cultures, such as those of Eastern Europe, India, China or Latin America have the need and appetite for theory that should allow them to build an alternative network of theoretical shuttles able to re-think the functions of the local in a globalized world.
