Sophia Jobim (1904-1968) foi colecionadora, museóloga, professora de indumentária da Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, feminista, jornalista, colunista de moda, figurinista, criadora e diretora do Liceu Império (1932) e do Museu de Indumentária História (1960). Sua coleção composta por trajes e acessórios de indumentária, documentos variados e biblioteca foi doada ao Museu Histórico Nacional em 1968 e constitui parte importante do acervo da instituição. A conferência abordará duas exposições de moda realizadas pelo Museu Histórico Nacional que se valeram da Coleção Sophia Jobim evidenciando aspectos ligados à moda, memória e colecionismo.

This contribution represents the first attempt to provide a complete overview of the Renaissance works related to ancient clothing (de re vestiaria) composed between the mid-fifteenth and mid-seventeenth centuries. The structure, approach and method for each treatise are defined in order to demonstrate the evolutionary path of this phenomenon, which was particularly relevant to the cultural life of the time. Two case studies complete the present work, revealing the impact and various ramifications of this knowledge on the development of applied arts. The first concerns an exploration of the influence exerted on theatrical costumes in Italy by antiquarian studies through a comparison between the Poenulus directed by Tomaso Inghirami in Rome in 1513 and the Edipo Tyranno performed by the Accademia Olimpica in Vicenza in 1585. The second concerns an integrated analysis of the relationship between the works on ancient garments and the iconographic patterns of the fresco paintings at Fontainebleau in France, which could shed further light on the identity of iconographers of the Gallery of Francis I.

Considering the textiles from archaeological settlements and cemeteries located from cero m.a.s.l. to 3,200 m.a.s.l. we build a synthesis of the development of textiles in the Atacamenian region (northern Chile, South Central Andes), from the Formative Period (1000 b.C.) until the Late Period (1450 A.D). We give data that supports the idea that there was a textile industry own to the territory between the Loa river and the salar of Atacama whose study at the same time gives account of the significant and diverse social processes developed by local people. In short, the study of textiles of the Atacama territory -such as the lower and middle courses of the Loa river have allowed the construction of a development sequence starting from 1000 b.C. until the arrival of the Incas, and ensure the existence of a textile style distinctive to this cultural region of northern Chile.
Considerando el material textil proveniente de sitios domésticos y funerarios ubicados desde la costa hasta las quebradas puneñas, a 3.200 m.s.n.m., se realiza una síntesis del desarrollo de la textilería en la región atacameña (norte de Chile, Andes del Sur), desde el período Formativo (1000 a.C.) hasta el período Tardío (1450 d.C.), presentando los datos que apoyan la idea de que existió una manera de tejer propia del territorio comprendido entre el río Loa y el salar de Atacama, cuyo estudio, al mismo tiempo da cuenta de los significativos y diversos procesos sociales desarro-llados por la población local. En definitiva, el estudio de los textiles del territorio atacameño -tales como los cursos inferior y medio del río Loa- han permitido construir una secuencia de su desarrollo a partir del año 2000 a.C. hasta la llegada de los incas y asegurar la existencia de una textilería con un estilo distintivo para esta región cultural del norte de Chile.
