The main objective of researches was the analysis of experience of application of technological schemes of mining of longwall panels without re-installation of the equipment of a coal face. For conditions of the mine Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya-2 change of coal face output when mining longwall panels with a longwall turn is shown. Sharp decline in output of a longwall at a face turn is shown. Comparison of efficiency of mining of longwall panels with a turn of a complex and at re-installation of a longwall is executed. Recommendations about decrease in equipment downtimes and increase in efficiency of re-installation of the equipment of a longwall are made.

This life extension often requires increased periodic and in-depth inspections; increasing maintenance costs and resulting in longer periods of aircraft downtime. A structural health monitoring system for aging aircraft could reduce the current inspection burden, and thus decrease costs and system downtime. This presentation describes a baseline systems engineering methodology for system definition of an aging aircraft structural health monitoring system. Analysis was performed to quantify the potential benefit a structural health monitoring affords.

The main objective of the executed researches was assessment of efficiency of recovering and equipment re-installation of longwalls at the applied technological schemes of mining of flat coal seams of the Kuznetsk coal basin. The analysis of the actual duration of performance of dismantling and installation works in mines of the SUEK Kuzbass company is made. It is shown that very poor state of a roof of recovery rooms is a basic reason for increase in duration of equipment downtimes. Recommendations about increase in roof stability of recovery rooms, a longwall erection are made. Economic disbenefit assessment from outages of the high-performance equipment of longwalls is executed.

This study relates to a manufacturing firm that produces sanitary towels in Nigeria. The firm was confronted with operational challenge of high production downtime occasioned by frequent breakdown of the subsystems of the production system. This situation thus threatened its survival despite monthly scheduled maintenance. The study obtained machine breakdown records from the production unit and estimated the percentage downtime of the subsystems in hierarchical order. Pareto analysis was used to determine that 6 out of 11 subsystems were responsible for about 80% of the downtime. The hazard rates of these subsystems were determined and failure distributions obtained. A better preventive maintenance plan based on these vital subsystems was proposed. The study was conducted using obtained machine breakdown records for 18 weeks and an estimated 2592 hours of machine time. The study concluded that general scheduled maintenance is not suitable for all the subsystems that make up the production system but that each, especially the critical ones, should be maintained separately at specific times as revealed by the hazard model.

Live migration of virtual machines is an important component of the emerging cloud computing environments. Migrating operating system instances across distinct physical hosts is a useful tool for administrators of data centres and clusters. Hence, a key issue in live migration is the total migration time and the downtime. To improve the performance of live migration, an optimized iterative pre-copy algorithm is used to reduce the dirty rate of VM. WSClock page replacement algorithm has been proposed along with traditional pre-copy approach that includes pre-processing phase for reducing the amount of transferred memory page and total migration time.

The study was conducted in Machinery & equipment store. Prospective data collection (April 2016 to September 2016) was done for a period of 6 months in each of the selected wards through weekly ward visits and additional visits were made at the time of breakdown of the selected equipment. The proliferation of e-business applications and enterprise information systems that use several models of client-server architectures has created the need for a common business perspective of operating systems, particularly server operating systems. In this article, we propose a framework for studying operating systems for business systems within the concepts of business continuity and continuous computing tehnologies that can be used for enhancing business continuity. The framework first identifies the main attributes of continuous computing and then locates the role of server operating systems and the so-called server operating environment. Server operating systems are expected to have a powerful “business dimension” as a set of features that relate to high availability, reliability, and scalability ratios as today's business has to be resilient and operational on an “always-on” basis. Servers and server operating systems that provide zero downtime or 100% uptime or a solution that is “near it” are of extreme importance for many businesses today. This article considers server operating systems in a broader sense as a core component of a server operating environment that employs several information technologies in the form of continuous computing technologies for enhancing the levels of continuous computing and business continuity. In addition, the article presents a framework for the selection of enterprise servers and a server operation system from a business continuity perspective.
