E-learning 2.0

The objective of the ICT for Language Learning conference is to promote the sharing of good practice and transnational cooperation in the field of the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to Language Learning and Teaching. The ICT for Language Learning conference will also be an excellent opportunity for the presentation of previous and current language learning projects and innovative initiatives.

Czego możemy nauczyć się od tych, którzy prowadzą zdalną edukację od dawna? E dukacja zdalna ma długie tradycje. Kształcenie przy wykorzystaniu edu-kacji korespondencyjnej (listy tradycyjne), radia, telewizji, gazet, a więc starych mediów, stało się wymuszoną koniecznością w szczególności w krajach o niskiej gęstości zaludnienia. Równie istotnym powodem wprowadzenia metod uczenia się i nauczania na odległość był brak dostępu do instytucji edukacji formalnej i pozaformalnej w siedliskach oddalonych od więk-szych skupisk ludzkich. Wraz z rozwojem społeczeństwa informacyjnego wzro-sły techniczne możliwości przesyłania danych, lecz jednocześnie w wielu krajach nie zniknęły ograniczenia uniemożliwiające powoływanie nowych instytucji edu-kacyjnych, które zniwelowałyby brak dostępu do placówek oświatowych. Owa zależność spowodowała wzrost popularności platform służących kształceniu zdalnemu przede wszystkim w krajach rozwijających się. Z opisanymi wcześniej wyzwaniami od wielu lat zmagają się organizatorzy edukacji formalnej w krajach afrykańskich, Australii, Azji, Ameryce Łacińskiej, krajach wyspiarskich. Jednakże należy na wstępie wyraźnie podkreślić, że w większości państw nauczanie zdal-ne jest traktowane jako jeden z alternatywnych środków dydaktycznych. Jest to atrakcyjna, multimedialna forma przekazywania wiedzy stosowana głównie w nurcie działań uzupełniających tradycyjne formy edukacji (zob. Pegrum, Oakley, Faulkner, 2013). Under the auspices of exceptional development in computer and informatics technology recently, it becomes necessary for acquiescent countries to take advantage of communication and information technologies to develop their establishments which affect environments and general welfare.
  From this point the importance of this research is embodied since it concentrates on explaining the idea of electronic management and its application on open systems ways (manners).
The research is divided to three themes:
  The first theme discusses the definition of open systems concept and its applicative theories, characteristics and features of these systems, and its advantages to manage establishments.
  The second theme discusses the definition of electronic management , the bases of setting up its equipments , developing its specializations , how to manage the basic resources and connection extent of management with central and non-central levels which consequently affects development of services generally, and explanation of characteristics of the main parts in electronic management , which are : electronic manger and electronic systems.
  The third theme explains the frame work (structure) of electronic management via using ways and theories of open systems and comparing them with traditional managements. Study obstacles (barriers) facing the electronic management to ensure success of applying it. The transformation matter is represented as management and planning steps at first place. This operation is taken into consideration more than technology matter which is represented in supplying computers and communication and software network.
Certain concepts which are related to electronic management are mentioned in this theme through explaining the necessity of Arabic countries to modern electronic managements in order to advance and serve their nations through transformation process from bureaucracy manner (form) to modern democratic manner (form).

The unprecedented growth of Web 2.0 has affected learning and has made the growth of learning networks possible. Learning networks are shaped by communities to help their members acquire knowledge in specific areas and are the most notable feature of Learning 2.0, the new learning era that focuses on individual learning needs. The evolution of learning forces traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS) to incorporate more Web 2.0 features and slowly transform to Personal Learning Environments (PLEs). A Personal Learning Environment is a loosely structured collection of tools with strong social networking characteristics, which gives users the ability to create, maintain, and redistribute their own learning content. This paper is a field study of the most well-known and established LMSs and their support for specific features within several categories of tools of Web 2.0. The incorporation of Web 2.0 features within those LMSs differentiates them regarding their ability and potential to be used as PLEs.

Since 2002 the «Zurich E-Learning Certificate» offers lecturers and academic staff from the three main
universities in Zurich the possibility to take part in a professional development program which supports the
acquirement of eCompetence. The program is the result of a cooperation between the University of Zurich
(UZH), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) and the Zurich University of Teacher
Education (PHZH).
In the near future a reform of the program will be realized in order to represent the increased significance
of Web 2.0 applications for higher education as well as e-research and e-science for academic staff.
Therefore a change of the topics and the different modules of the program will be necessary. Furthermore
the didactical concept of the «Zurich E-Learning Certificate» offers a good basis for this change because of
the flexible structure and the impact of self-organization for the participants.
Based on the concept of this program and on a course in historical science at the UZH as a practical
example, this article underlines the necessity for a science-based discussion of adequate didactical concepts
how academic staff should become media-savvy and the importance of reflexive learning methods in
further education programs to acquire e-Competence.

The complexity of the Internet has increased the requirement of learner's self-cognition, self-control and self-responsibility when using Internet to learn. Thus, responsibility of e-learner to decide on the validity, reliability and meaningfulness of the information steadily increased. This situation has caused internet related issues such as problematic Internet use, Internet addiction, cognitive overload, disorientation, continuous partial attention and information pollution on the Internet. The purpose of this study is to provide practical strategies for e-learners' Internet related current issues. This study presented in three steps. At the first step, problematic Internet use and addiction, cognitive overload, disorientation, continuous partial attention and Internet information pollution was discussed as Internet related current issues of e-learners. At the second step, increase of Internet literacy, Internet search strategies, using computational knowledge engines, and benefit from Semantic Web presented as practical strategies for e-learners. At the end of study related conclusions provided.

The purpose of this study was to explore the structural relationships between knowledge sharing behaviors (KSB), academic self-efficacy (ASE) and sense of community (SoC) of university students in e-learning community. The study was carried out with students who joined Facebook learning community that was created for the Computing I course which was taught with blended learning method. Data were collected from 316 university students by utilizing three self-report instruments: KSB scale, ASE scale (sub-scales: ‘social status’, ‘cognitive applications’ and ‘technical skills’) and classroom community (CC) scale (sub-scales: ‘connectedness’ and ‘learning’). The path analyses with structural equation modeling (SEM) further verified that students’ KSB were related to their ASE and SoC in e-learning community. The results of the study revealed that the ASE and SoC of the students positively affect their KSB. And in terms of sub-scales, the connectedness to the community, learning perception in the community, the self-efficacy of the students on the cognitive applications in the courses and their social status in the community positively affect KSB. However, students’ self-efficacy perceptions on their technical skills affect KSB positively but its affect size was smaller compared to other sub-scales. Further research studies and implications are presented and discussed. E-Öğrenme Topluluğunda Bilgi Paylaşım Davranışları: Akademik Öz-Yeterlik Ve Topluluk Hissinin Rolünü Keşfetmek Bu araştırmanın amacı, e-öğrenme topluluğundaki üniversite öğrencilerinin, bilgi paylaşım davranışları (BPD), akademik öz-yeterlikleri (AÖ) ve topluluk hisleri (TH) arasındaki yapısal ilişkileri incelemektir. Araştırma, harmanlanmış öğrenme yöntemi ile yürütülen Bilgisayar I dersi için oluşturulan Facebook öğrenme topluluğuna katılan öğrenciler üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri 316 üniversite öğrencisinden öz bildirime dayalı üç veri toplama aracı kullanılarak elde edilmiştir: Bilgi paylaşım davranışları ölçeği, akademik özyeterlik ölçeği (alt ölçekleri: 'sosyal statü', 'bilişsel uygulamalar' ve 'teknik beceriler') ve sınıf topluluğu ölçeği (alt ölçekleri: 'bağlılık' ve 'öğrenme') olmak üzere üç öz-raporlamaya dayalı veri toplama aracı kullanılarak 316 üniversite öğrencisinden veri toplanmıştır. Yapısal eşitlik modellemesi (YEM) ile yapılan yol analizleri, e-öğrenme topluluğundaki öğrencilerin BPD'sinin AÖ ve TH'leriyle ilişkili olduğunu doğrulamıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları, öğrencilerin AÖ ve TH'lerinin BPD'yi olumlu etkilediğini ortaya koymuştur. Alt ölçekler açısından bakıldığında; topluluğa bağlılık, toplulukta algılanan öğrenme, öğrencilerin derslerdeki bilişsel uygulamalar üzerindeki öz yeterliği ve topluluktaki sosyal statülerinin BPD'yi olumlu etkilediği görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte, öğrencilerin teknik becerileri üzerindeki öz-yeterlik algıları BPD'yi olumlu etkilemekle birlikte, diğer alt ölçeklere kıyasla etki büyüklüğünün daha küçük olduğu görülmüştür. The term e-learning is with increasingly popularity in today’s world. The main engine of its development is the dynamic development of the information and communication technologies, by which distances are no longer so important and the world becomes a global village. This study examines the nature of e-learning, its development from the end of 80’s to the present, as well as the advantages and disadvantages for the organizations, which use it to maintain and update the knowledge and skills of their employees.

The purpose of this presentation is to explain the importance of digital citizenship education drawing from the literature review. The presentation discusses the role of distance learning as a digital learning environment where the student to learn and participate in aspects of digital citizenship in the situation.

Although we are aware of the shortcomings mentioned, we think that the results of the study on the effectiveness of blended education, and to increase the concentration of educational programs that contribute to the renaissance of the community, Blended Learning Programs are considered an effective starting point for students to achieve continuing education, combining the classic kinds of learning with online learning. Blended learning is one of the most popular pedagogical methods, and has received numerous researches on blended learning since its beginning in recent years, the introduction of new technological innovations to fill the gap between traditional learning and face-to-face learning. The main purpose of this study is to review and analyze the studies conducted on blended learning through thinking about the past, present and future. In this article, the researcher discussed blended learning system, showing that the use of e-learning in the role of education in general needs a period of time to be good training stage to get rid of the traditional methods, and finding easier ways and more accurate for education and evaluation, and concludes importance of blended learning in preparation for the application of e-learning , so the researcher should direct his research to this type of education so that it is applied properly scientific. Finally, the recent developments in the technology encourages students and teachers to apply blended learning in their ranks, and this is one of the questions that will be discussed in this paper in addition to the successful factors for implementing blended learning and the efficiencies needed for teachers and students to achieve blended learning. We highlighted some successful experiences regionally, globally and some successful experiences in Sudan and what future directions of blended learning systems in Sudanese higher educations. INTRODUCTION With the expansion and the spread of e-learning systems, increasing demand for the use and employ them in learning it emerged several problems, including: the absence of direct social contact between the practical components of learning-teachers, students and administration which negatively affects the social contact with those components, the application of e-learning systems infrastructure needs require a high cost, in many educational systems may not be available, e-learning systems require skills in educational technology to enable teachers and students to take advantage of e-learning, the difficulty of conducting the assessment for learners when they include practical skills, and Lack of appropriate e-learning systems for students of some of the stages , as well as the lack of suitability of some curricula and courses , especially those that require students to exercise practical skills. Blended learning is a hybrid of the traditional face-to-face and an on-line learning so that instruction occurs in both classroom and an on-line, It has been acknowledged that blended instruction, is an emerging trend and it is trying to give students the advantages of each method [10], [9]. It is necessary to point out that blended learning became a natural extension of traditional classroom learning [8].

This report presents an in-depth case study analysis of 24 examples of innovative use of
Learning 2.0 and Web 2.0 for inclusive lifelong learning. The main objective of this collection and analysis of exemplary projects is to investigate the potential of Learning 2.0 to support the social inclusion of groups at risk of exclusion from society.

The projects studied are also set within the current “landscape of Learning 2.0 for inclusion”,
i.e. the contexts of policy, theory and practices. Thus the extent to which the cases
are supporting the major policies in the field, the conceptual thinking around social inclusion
and the needs of excluded groups is evaluated. Moreover, the projects are reflected upon from the perspective of a “theory of change” approach taking account of the evidence on impacts they provide.

Enfocar la enseñanza desde una aproximación más comunicativa y más experiencial es un espacio en el que podemos aprovechar muchas de las bondades que contienen los medios digitales, gracias a que con su uso podemos trascender el negro sobre blanco, la clase basada en la materia por la clase orientada a la experiencia multisensorial y a la transformación del profesor y del alumno consumidor de contenidos por el profesor y alumno prosumidores.

Una serie di incontri, rivolti agli studenti della prima classe di un Liceo Linguistico di Viareggio, finalizzati a reinventare la didattica del latino grazie all’ausilio della gamification - spesso in BYOD -, del cooperative learning e della peer assessment. Dalla scoperta dell’augmented reality alla possibilità di esercitarsi in blended learning, dallo studio delle declinazioni in modalità flipped classroom ai modellini del Colosseo stampati in 3D, l’intento è stato quello di sviluppare nuovi processi cognitivi e nuove competenze capaci di coniugare cultura umanistica e cultura tecnologica. Nell’ottica di un sapere “multicanale e orizzontale”, questa sperimentazione ha consentito una progressiva riflessione sul metodo e un costante aggiustamento del percorso, dimostrando che la didattica di materie apparentemente “morte” come il latino può e deve reinventarsi per adeguarsi agli standard sociali e comunicativi del XXI secolo.

The research project is to investigate the challenges faced by international students in coping with E-Learning environment in the private Higher Education Colleges. Questionnaires will be used to gather views from thirty students at the West London College of Business and Management Sciences, ICE Academy and Manchester College of Management Sciences. The results and finding indicate that the international students struggle to cope with the e-learning systems mainly due to lack of familiarity, engagement, technical issues, and accessibility and training. I would like to address some of these issues in this research to enhance uptake of the e-learning systems in private higher education colleges.

The intricate construction of online educational systems lies within three principal activities: “Postimplementation Design, Implementation and proper Assessment”. There is not enough knowledge or experience in those aspects. Efficient execution of these three major activities necessitates the use of design and educational models to
achieve the cost and time efficiency, as well as high academic quality. Utilization of online educational systems would benefit from a structured approach to design, implementation, and student’s assessment. We propose a general formulation of model as well as a framework for finding such patterns, so that it can improve the online educational
systems for both teachers and students allowing for more accurate assessment and more effective evaluation of the learning process.

Many teachers and students in Nigerian institutions of learning find teaching and learning a herculean task and very boring because of the obsolete methods of teaching and learning in this sector of the Nigerian economy. New innovative and IT-driven approach will be used in this research to help improve the quality of teaching and learning in Nigerian schools. This research will try to find a solution to this problem, where both students and teachers will enjoy teaching and learning respectively in an environment where effective teaching and learning is the target objective.

Since the 1990s the European educational historiography has increasingly focused on the study of the school material culture through the ethnographic dimension in which it manifests itself and, more concretely, through objects, images, texts and oral sources that describe its real educational practices in a historical perspective. Today, the historian of education is called not only to describe the technical and material development of school consumer goods, but also to explore the economic processes which where associated with the increase of mass schooling. The transformation of school production, from traditional into an industrial one has made it possible, in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth century, the production of what the A. defines "tools of mass education", i.e. those teaching aids, writing instruments and various stationery, which were properly serialized in order to facilitate the approval and standardization of teaching methods as well as of learning processes.

The fast development in computer and various mobile devices have bought changes to our living environment. Pressing a button to open the door of flat when we are in office is no longer purely imagination in cartoons or films. More importantly, home automation as such provides us an alternative solution to reduce the usage of energy, save costs and conven-ience. This paper reviews the advantages of home automation smart home in Hong Kong and Australia from industry perspective with the help of content analysis.

Trovare strumenti digitali efficaci per una didattica del latino che coinvolga le nuove tecnologie non è un’impresa semplice. In assenza di un sistema funzionante di valutazione qualitativa delle risorse, questo contributo offre un’analisi basata su quattro criteri: il rapporto con il modello teorico SAMR (Puentedura, 2016), i progressi nell’apprendimento, il feedback degli studenti e la facilità di costruire sinergie funzionali con altri strumenti.
L’analisi fa riferimento ai risultati ottenuti in seguito alla sperimentazione di un percorso pensato per ridefinire la didattica del latino nel liceo linguistico e strutturato per unità di apprendimento progettate per lo sviluppo di competenze anche trasversali.

The growth of internet technologies changed learning strategies globally. The Philippines is no exemption. Due to its usefulness and potential, E-learning is becoming popular. But before these benefits would be enjoyed, it is very important for an institution to be assessed. This is to identify the needs and factors that directly affect their readiness. This study presents a readiness assessment tool for Philippine Higher Education Institutions. It also serves as a needs assessment instrument.

Lecturers, teachers, researchers and experts in the field of science education as well as coordinators of science education and training projects from all over the world came together in the fifth edition of the International Conference “New Perspectives in Science Education” which took place in Florence, Italy, on 17 - 18 March 2016 to share findings, expertise and experience about innovative teaching and learning methodologies. This volume is a collection of the papers presented at the Conference, whose aim is to promote transnational cooperation and share good practice in the field of innovation for science education.

Actualmente, las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) han incursionado en el campo educativo en todos sus niveles. Sin embargo, cada institución educativa tiene su propio ritmo de aprendizaje, alcance y desarrollo de las TIC. Es en este marco que nos propusimos como objetivo relatar desde una visión general y panorámica de cómo ha evolucionado la incursión de las TIC en la Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo. Para cumplir el objetivo, se ha revisado documentos, se ha entrevistado a los principales protagonistas
del proceso y se han tenido en cuenta las vivencias de los autores de este documento. Los principales resultados muestran que la Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo ha estado abierta a los cambios tecnológicos desde
sus inicios y los ha utilizado para mejorar sus procesos claves del campo académico y administrativo; y lograr ser eficaz en sus metas institucionales, tales como, el desarrollo del talento humano, la acreditación institucional, la formación continua, la visibilidad internacional, entre otros.

La ricerca ha preso le mosse da una ricognizione delle buone pratiche, facendo propria l’ottica evidence based (Hattie 2016, Calvani 2012), cercando di sviluppare una riflessione metodologica ad ampio respiro, tesa a individuare gli elementi di effettiva innovazione introdotti dall’approccio flipped e ad analizzarne le ricadute sia sulla didattica in presenza che sugli ambienti virtuali di apprendimento. Lo schema di insegnamento rovesciato e le metodologie a esso associate sono state sperimentate coinvolgendo oltre 1350 soggetti – docenti di ogni ordine e grado e studenti e studentesse del Corso di Laurea in Scienze della Formazione Primaria dell’Università Roma Tre – che si sono cimentati nella progettazione di lezioni rovesciate e di Episodi di Apprendimento Situato (EAS).

Racconto di un percorso formativo che ha visto l’applicazione delle tecnologie educative in un ambito generalmente lontano dall’innovazione, "Idee per una nuova didattica del latino nel liceo linguistico" è suddivisa in due parti.
La prima, teorica, descrive la pedagogia di riferimento, il perché della scelta di una didattica blended e per competenze, le metodologie e gli strumenti impiegati. La seconda, più pratica, propone un curriculum di lingua e letteratura latina strutturato in venti Unità di Apprendimento (Uda) basate sull'impiego del digitale e supportate da un ambiente di e-learning realizzato con Moodle. Il percorso ha coinvolto una classe del biennio del liceo linguistico "G. Carducci" di Viareggio.

Abstract: Questo volume nasce dalla collaborazione tra “L’Orientale” di Napoli eMOVEME – MOoc per studenti uniVErsitari in Mobilità Europea (movemeproject.eu), un progetto Erasmus Plus che mette insieme l’Università perStranieri di Siena, la National University of Ireland (NUI) di Galway, laOpen University di Milton Keynes (Regno Unito), la FENICE (FEderazioneNazionale Insegnanti – Centro di iniziativa per l’Europa) di Napoli, ilComputer Technology Institute & Press (CTI) “Diophantos” di Patra (Grecia),e l’Institutul de Ştiinţe ale Educaţiei (ISE) di Bucarest (Romania).Dopo il primo convegno internazionale di questo progetto, organizzatoil 20-21 ottobre 2016 presso la Open University nella sua sede di MiltonKeynes, e avente come titolo MOOCs, Informal Language Learning, and Mobility,il prof. Giampiero de Cristofaro della FENICE pensò di proporreall’università “L’Orientale” di ospitare il secondo convegno internazionaledel progetto. All’Ateneo piacque l’idea di avviare una collaborazione conun gruppo di università e centri di ricerca europei così importanti sullatematica della teledidattica e dei MOOC, e in particolare sulle loro possibilitàe prospettive nel campo della didattica delle lingue straniere;quest’ultima un’area in cui da più di due secoli esso ha sviluppato un altoprofilo, la prima un settore in cui da alcuni anni esso ha avviato una diversificataattività di sperimentazione. Venne così realizzato insieme il secondoincontro internazionale del progetto MOVEME il 13-14 ottobre 2017. Ilconvegno ebbe un considerevole successo, con più di 100 partecipanti registratiche venivano da un elevato numero di paesi europei (Belgio, Bulgaria,Cipro, Danimarca, Francia, Irlanda, Italia, Inghilterra, Kosovo, Malta,Norvegia, Olanda, Portogallo, Romania, Russia, Spagna, Svizzera) e noneuropei(Algeria, Australia, Cina, Thailandia e Turchia). Le comunicazionisono state più di 46, divise tra tre sessioni plenarie con keynote speakers epiù gruppi di sessioni parallele in tre ambienti diversi, e hanno toccato tematichequali:1) MOOC,2) e-learning solutions for language teaching and learning,

3) CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning),4) mobile-assisted language teaching and learning,5) informal language learning and technologies.Purtroppo diverse ragioni non hanno reso possibile pubblicarle tutte, eil Comitato Scientifico ha dovuto selezionare tra di esse le 17 contenute inquesto bel volume, che affronta da un lato aspetti teorici di grande importanzae, dall’altro, diverse esperienze e sperimentazioni realizzate in questocampo in continua espansione, nel quale si giocherà una parte considerevoledel futuro dell’insegnamento linguistico impartito dalle università,sia per quanto riguarda gli studenti che si preparano ad entrare nel mondodel lavoro, sia per la formazione continua e la preparazione di persone piùmature che si rivolgeranno al mondo universitario al fine di meglio affrontarela rapida evoluzione e trasformazione delle loro attività lavorative.Siamo infine contenti che un volume di questa importanza venga pubblicatodal nostro Ateneo. This paper describes the diffusion of Moodle within Cherokee County Schools.  The diffusion is evaluated using the Bass Model and the RIPPLES model in order to evaluate relative success or failure.  The Bass Model of Diffusion was calculated utilizing forecasting by analogy in order to analyze the adoption rates in a county high school.  The adoption of Moodle was then analyzed using the RIPPLES model to understand why the adoption rates were below the projected Bass model adoption figures.

Due to tremendous explorations in internet the entire teaching learning methodologies have been changed. In the old days the education system mainly followed the " gurukul " system. Slowly the people shifted from those classical methods and adopted postal coaching in early 70-s. After innovations of internet a further changes have been made in teaching learning process. Now a new concept has come up. Education for all and anywhere and anytime. In the present study the author will make systematic study on new innovative teaching learning methodologies and also its importance in coming days. In the present paper the authors have tried to explore a comparative study among e-learning, distance learning, on-line learning methodologies. The authors have also made a study on how ARM technology can improve the teaching learning methods by reducing the H/W cost.
