In the current trend, cancer has become something like cold. Almost in every street, at least three people fight cancer. The traditional method of curing cancer includes chemotherapy and pills. But it is effective only at the early stages of cancer. Till now, no cure has been found in curing cancer completely. The principle behind chemotherapy involves the killing of cancer cells by passing high level radiation such as gamma radiation through the body. Moreover chemo causes post complications such as hair loss, weight loss etc. which makes the person's life miserable. The other problem which currently exists in the surgical area is removal of small stones (of size less than a unit sphere) in sensitive organs like uterus etc. For example, in the case of removal of uterine stones, since the tube is very small to be overloaded, a slight defocus during incision can cause severe complication and lead to the death of the patient. The size of uterine tube is really small for the incision procedure to take place. If any stone of fibrous type gets formed in the walls of this tube, it becomes really difficult to cut open the tube and remove the stone. Sometimes due to deep tear of the tube, the muscles get damaged and the person may die. So, the important problems that the doctors and the pathologists face nowadays are finding a remedy for cancer and removal of stones from sensitive areas. The solution that we could develop is something common to both the problems and this solution will be useful to cure both the problems. That is some platform which can remove stones with ease and also destroy cancer cells.

Static levitation is a form of marvel with metaphysical implications whose long history has not previously been charted. First, Pliny the Elder reports an architect's plan to suspend an iron statue using magnetism, and the later compiler Ampelius mentions a similar-sounding wonder in Syria. When the Serapeum at Alexandria was destroyed, and for many centuries afterwards, chroniclers wrote that an iron Helios had hung magnetically inside. In the Middle Ages, reports of such false miracles multiplied, appearing in Muslim accounts of Christian and Hindu idolatry, as well as Christian descriptions of the tomb of Muhammad. A Christian levitation miracle involving saints' relics also emerged. Yet magnetic suspension could be represented as miraculous in itself, representing lost higher knowledge, as in the latest and easternmost tradition concerning Konark's ruined temple. The levitating monument, first found in classical antiquity, has undergone many cultural and epistemological changes in its long and varied history.

This paper is an attempt to review the state-of-the-art on several physical principles related to the movement and levitation of objects. Not only normal, but also paranormal, phenomena are discussed. It is believed that this work contributes to a better understanding of present technologies and techniques used. Starting from ancient times, the antigravity properties of the caduceus carried by Hermes in Greek mythology are discussed. Next, strange paranormal phenomena related to the levitation of inanimate and living objects are systematically presented. The meaning of ether and its role in antigravity phenomena is discussed to an extent. Some magic tricks are discussed. In addition, the philosophical importance of the number eight (8), which if rotated by 90 degrees forms the infinity symbol (∞), is introduced. Based on the latter figure-eight shape, a recently announced theory in physics that shows promise for antigravity effects is discussed. Apart from a better philosophical understanding of nature, the final technological objective of similar research could be the ability to perform interstellar cruises in the future. Provatidis, Ph.D. Résumé Cet article examine l'état actuel des connaissances des divers principes physiques liés au mouvement et à la lévitation d'objets. On y présente des phénomènes naturels et des phénomènes paranormaux. Cette étude permet une meilleure compréhension des technologies actuelles et des techniques utilisées. Avec un retour vers les temps anciens, on y traite des propriétés du caducée qu'Hermès transportait selon la mythologie grecque. Par la suite, on y présente des phénomènes paranormaux étranges en lien avec la lévitation d'objets inanimés et animés. La signification de l'éther et son rôle dans le phénomène de l'anti-gravité font également l'objet de discussion. On y parle aussi de certains trucs de magie. Enfin, on discute de l'importance philosophique du nombre 8 qui, une fois couché sur le côté (∞), prend la forme du symbole de l'infini. En se basant sur ce dernier point concernant la forme du nombre 8, l'article présente une théorie récente et prometteuse en physique en ce qui a trait aux effets de l'anti-gravité. Outre l'acquisition d'une meilleure compréhension philosophique de la nature, un des objectifs technologiques ultimes d'une recherche similaire pourrait être la capacité de faire des voyages interstellaires dans l'avenir.

The common point in all applications is the lack of contact and thus no wear and friction [6]. This increases efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, and increases the useful life of the system. The magnetic levitation technology can be used as an efficient technology in the various industries. There are already many countries that are attracted to maglev systems. Many systems have been proposed in different parts of the worlds. This paper tries to study the most important uses of magnetic levitation technology. The results clearly reflect that the maglev can be conveniently considered as a solution for the future engineering needs of the world. So in this paper we're discussing about magnetic levitation and the uses in transportation.

The aim of this work is the dynamic calculation of the necessary electromagnetic forces for positioning of the vehicle at different mass loads. Numerical calculations of magnetic fields and obtained forces are based on finite element method. Comprehensive solutions have been applied to the development of a parametric modelling. The paper defines the basic model for further modelling and the possibility to observe the behaviour of a given model using different types of materials and loads. Types of magnetic materials and their selection for particular parts of the model are explained. These results provide insight into the magnetic field, dependence of default coil current and power of the levitate part of the model. Using these results a mathematical model can be developed. State space model calculation can be utilized as a preparation for automatic regulation of the dynamics of the suspension.

Majoritatea oamenilor de știință consideră că, în condiții normale, materializarea aerului într-o substanță consistentă este o idee utopică și totuși, de-a lungul istoriei, au existat sute de mărturii despre oameni care, prin puteri nebănuite, au reușit să transforme aerul, concretizându-l sub diferite forme.

The given paper presents a hybrid electromagnetic suspension designed for high-speed vacuum transport, where the main levitation force is generated by permanent magnets, while the electromagnet controls the air gap. The computer model is designed by means of MATLAB/Simulink software package, which allows us to simulate the dynamic operational modes of the system. The calculated studies are carried out when the vehicle accelerating to 1000 km/h with account of track irregularities. Permanent magnets incorporated in the system of electromagnetic suspension make it possible to reduce the energy consumption needed for levitation force generation.

Previously, we introduced wall-less sample preparation (WaSP), technology that involves the use of an electrodynamic balance (EDB) to prepare μm-sized sample spots for analysis by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS). In that work we demonstrated the detection of femtomole quantities of a low molecular weight peptide and a hydrophobic ester (both <600 Da). Here we use WaSP to test the hypothesis that the use of small sample spot sizes and an instrument equipped with delayed extraction would increase the analytical utility of liquid sample spots for peptide and protein (>2500 Da) analysis by UV-MALDI-TOF-MS (Sze et al.; J. Am. Soc. Mass Spectrom. 1998, 9, 166–174). To aid the optimization of preparing μm-sized sample spots by WaSP, optical microscopy and mass spectrometry were used to investigate nonvolatile solute concentration effects on droplet fission and sample spot size, modifications of the EDB electric field to control droplet ejection, and the use of multiple droplet deposition to increase sample loading. Also described is a rapid deposition mode of operation for WaSP that allows single droplets generated at 1 Hz to be levitated briefly (∼500 ms) before being ejected autonomously and deposited as a concentrated sample spot with a spatial accuracy of ±5 µm. To test the sensitivity of the method, one hundred glycerol droplets (270 pL each, 27 nL total) each containing 32 amol lysozyme were deposited on top of each other one-at-a-time to create a single sample spot. Using a mass spectrometer equipped with delayed extraction to analyze this sample spot, we verified the hypothesis of Sze et al. by achieving detection limits three orders of magnitude below that previously observed for the detection of a protein by UV-MALDI-TOF-MS with a chemical-doped liquid matrix sample preparation.

Wind energy is the kinetic energy associated with movement of large masses of air. These motions result from uneven heating of atmosphere by sun creating temperature, density, pressure differences. It is an indirect form of solar energy The device used to convert kinetic energy of wind into electrical power is called a wind turbine. Vertical Axis wind power generators, represent a very promising future for wind power generation. In present study an attempt is made to utilize at low velocity wind below 4m/s for useful power generation using magnetic levitation for vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) termed as Maglev turbine. A single large Maglev turbine can give output more than conventional horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT). The rotor that is designed to harness enough air to rotate the shaft at low and high wind speeds while keeping the center of mass closer to the base of yielding stability due to Maglev effect. The efficiency of turbine is increased by replacing the conventional bearings by magnets in repulsion; the magnetic levitation helps the turbine to spin at much faster rate as it eliminates the stresses on the shaft of turbine. The major components are placed at the ground level which ensures the safety of turbine. I.

The National Space Development Agency of Japan has recently developed several electrostatic levitation furnaces and implemented new techniques and procedures for property measurement, solidification studies, and atomic structure research. In addition to the contamination-free environment for undercooled and liquid metals and semiconductors, the newly developed facilities possess the unique capabilities of handling ceramics and high vapor pressure materials, reducing processing time, and imaging high luminosity samples. These are exemplified in this paper with the successful processing of BaTiO(3). This allowed measurement of the density of high temperature solid, liquid, and undercooled phases. Furthermore, the material resulting from containerless solidification consisted of micrometer-size particles and a glass-like phase exhibiting a giant dielectric constant exceeding 100,000.

Loss of mass due to evaporation during molten metal levitation processing significantly influences the evaluation of density, viscosity and surface tension during thermophysical property measurement. Since there is no direct way to track the evaporation rate during the process, this paper describes a mathematical approach to track mass loss and quantify any changes in alloy composition as a function of time and temperature. The Ni-based super alloy CMSX-4 Plus (SLS) was investigated and a model was developed to predict the dynamic loss of mass with time and track the potential for composition shifts throughout each thermal cycle based on the Langmuir's equation for ideal solution behavior. Results were verified by post-test chemical analysis of key elemental constituents including Al, Cr, Ti, and Co where the error in composition for each element was less than 1 % when the activity of aluminum in solution was fixed at zero-effectively eliminating evaporation of aluminum for ground-based elec-trostatic levitation (ESL) testing in vacuum. This model predicts the mass evaporation for Al and Co within ± 6 % errors for CMSX-4 plus samples processed in ESL. Application of this technique to the space tests using the ESA ISS-EML facility shows that by conducting experiments in an inert shielding-gas environment, composition shifts due to differential relative evaporation become negligible and the composition is maintained within the desired limits. By tracking overall mass loss during testing the influence of evaporation on density measurements is discussed.
