A freight terminal is a key node in a transportation network and the transit time of containers through this terminal represents one of the most relevant bottlenecks in logistic chains. The system performance reduction and the corresponding increase of transit time are often due to the increase of the freight flow without a corresponding increase of stacking and handling capacity. For this purpose it was decided to approach the problem by a discrete event simulation model, in order to reproduce the activities carried out inside an intermodal terminal, to calculate the total transit time and to identify the bottlenecks. The transit time of a cargo unit in a terminal is the summation of times required for the development of each phase of the process (waiting time + operational time). The occurrence of turf-banked solifluction landforms in the Abisko region was analysed using a grid-based approach and statistical modelling through logistic regression. Significant parameters in the model were the vegetation index NDVI, annual incoming potential radiation, wetness index, slope gradient and elevation. The model had an acceptable discrimination capacity and rather low model-fit values, but clearly showed the importance of vegetation patterns for the occurrence of solifluction at a regional scale. Solifluction movement rates measured at eight sites were combined with model parameters and the annual duration of sun hours to regionalise solifluction movement rates through an unsupervised terrain classification. For comparison, the linear relationship between the probability of solifluction occurrence and variations in movement rates was also used to regionalise movement rates. Potential geomorphic work was calculated for six different areas within the region, with the greatest being for Kärkevagge, the area with the highest precipitation. The combination of a logistic regression model of mapped landforms and field measurements of solifluction rates represents a promising methodology to assess the occurrence and activity of the process at a regional scale. In this paper, we derive inflection points for the commonly known growth curves, namely, generalized logistic, Richards, Von Bertalanffy, Brody, logistic, Gompertz, generalized Weibull, Weibull, Monomolecular and Mitscherlich functions. The functions often represent the mean part of non-linear regression models in Statistics. Inflection point of a
growth curve is the point on the curve at which the rate of growth gets maximum value and it represents an important physical interpretation in the respective application area. Not only the model parameters but also the inflection point of a growth curve is of high statistical interests.

ABSTRACT This paper investigates various problems associated with the parameter specification for material requirements planning (MRP) in a typical ERP system. The choice of a suitable MRP procedure and its parameters can reduce excessive quantities of materials and, consequently, cost. The proposed approach is dedicated for MRP procedure based on the forecasting of material demand and inventory that can be obtained with the use of techniques for nonlinear function identification, such as fuzzy-neural system and neural networks. An example is presented which compares the different forecasting models for material demand and inventory.

This research aims to disclose yearly Pandora boxes to determine precisely variable costs that drawing up of logistics model in Indonesia's cement projects. It begins caused by difficulties to plan an effective projects at the stage of deployment of costs allocation at the preliminary phase. The research period taken was 2010 to 2018 of 8 cement projects in Indonesia by quarterly and had been tested with a statistical tool EVIEWS10.00 to develop robust model. This research employs literature study to assess model previously developed and then reconfirmed by empirical. The model developed is synthesized of 4 dependent variables accordingly defined as foreign logistics costs, domestic manufacture, domestic logistics costs, and total investment costs. Each adjusted R-squared that representing confidence level is consecutively 72.54%, 67.12%, 65.16% and 67.65% or bigger portions are in the model while smaller other in outside model. A 10-variable independent is a new novelty of developing logistics model for executing cement's projects in Indonesia and a concerning significant findings that variable of foreign logistics costs took big portion of the model and therefore must be prior carefully anticipated. This research is giving contribution for planning projects carefully and precisely to avoid budget exceeded generally in every projects.

In this article, we explain how to calculate adjusted risk ratios and risk differences when reporting results from logit, probit, and related nonlinear models. Building on Stata's margins command, we create a new postestimation command, adjrr, that calculates adjusted risk ratios and adjusted risk differences after running a logit or probit model with a binary, a multinomial, or an ordered outcome. adjrr reports the point estimates, delta-method standard errors, and 95% confidence intervals and can compute these for specific values of the variable of interest. It automatically adjusts for complex survey design as in the fit model. Data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey are used to illustrate multiple applications of the command.

An increasing amount of research now relates to full-time higher education students who work part-time during their study. However, little is known about this issue in the Irish context, despite the fact that the latter provides an interesting case-study due to its unprecedented economic growth in recent years and subsequent changes in the labour market. This paper attempts to address this gap in research and reports on a postal survey carried out among 3,900 higher education students. It aims to establish the profile of full-time higher education students engaged in part-time work during term-time. It also explores the motivation for engaging in paid work and possible implications of work-load on levels of life satisfaction. It is argued in this paper that inadequate policy attention to the changing profile of higher education students, their work-load and needs risks reinforcing inequalities among students.

The objective of this proposal is to implement a school day agenda focused on the learning rhythms of students of elementary and secondary schools using a genetic algorithm. The methodology of this proposal takes into account legal requirements and constraints on the assignment of teachers and classrooms in public educational institutions in Colombia. In addition, this proposal provides a set of constraints focused on cognitive rhythms and subjects are scheduled at the most convenient times according to the area of knowledge. The genetic algorithm evolves through a process of mutation and selection and builds a total solution based on the best solutions for each group. Sixteen groups in a school are tested and the results of class schedule assignments are presented. The quality of the solution obtained through the established approach is validated by comparing the results to the solutions obtained using another algorithm.

The paper presents the framework and the main tools for software maintenance (i.e creation and management of versions), developed during the IST project called MECASP (Maintenance and improvement of component-based applications diffused in ASP mode). The specific features and general architecture of MECASP, given at the beginning of the paper, make it differ from the existing (open source and commercial) products for version management. The paper gives a brief description of the software architecture in MECASP, represented by XML meta-models and versioned models. Also, it presents the basic components of the specific browser in MECASP. Among the problems to be solved for the implementation of MECASP (most of them from scratch), the paper emphasizes the issues for the implementation of an open source-based XML repository manager and of a rule-based and semantically enhanced merge strategy, devoted to the maintenance of heterogeneous types of software. The use of MECASP for software maintenance and adaptation is exemplified by the use cases given at the end of the paper, for both software design and deployment phases.
