A partir de explantes de embriones cigóticos y megagametofitos fueron inducidos cultivos organogénicos de Dioon merolae del estado de Chiapas (México), cícada en peligro de extinción. El medio de inducción Litz consistió en los macronutrientes del medio B5, los micronutrientes del medio MS y los compuestos orgánicos glutamina (400mg·l-1) arginina (100mg·l-1), asparagina (100mg·l-1), sacarosa (60g·l-1), gellan-gum (4g), y suplementado con 0; 0,45; 2,26; 4,52 y 9,05μM αcido 2,4-diclorofenoxiacético (2,4-D), y 0; 2,32; 4,60; 9,30 y 13,90μM kinetina (K), con un arreglo de 5´5 con un diseño de bloque seleccionado al azar. Los cultivos fueron mantenidos en oscuridad a 25°C y el callo fue subcultivado en medio fresco cada cuatro semanas. La iniciación del callo ocurrió en un amplio rango de combinaciones de reguladores de crecimiento en explantes de megagametofito. “Being Ma” lives at the nexus of ma and the lived body. (1) Of Shinto Zen origin, 'ma' concept of spacetime permeates traditional forms of Japanese Fine Arts. (2) The essence of 'ma' reappears in the contemporary Butoh dance philosophy, and has migrated as spatial-temporal perspective in a number of movement art practices outer-borders of Japan. “Being Ma” attempts at describing a porous, fluid, indescribable concept as experienced in its relationship along and between the artistic intents of a moving body in spacetime.
'Ma' is a contributing rather than a limiting principle. The study follows a flow leading to ma-body-as-event. The study of 'ma' contributes to the phenomenal, cultural, and embodied knowledge production of Dance & Performance scholarship, and beyond, extending to fields of research mandating embodied inquiries. Having chosen to study a Japanese phenomenological concept through the practical framework (in some cases) of North American movement art practitioners, I come across issues of embodied translation and issues of movement approaches – or, stylistic codes and forms of ‘trans-action’. Aided by the artistic expressions of the lived body paradigm, this paper addresses the experience of movement: Shinto Zen rites, Nihon Buyo (Traditional Japanese Dance), Butoh practice, Somatic practice, dancing dream state, and Durational Performance Art. These forms call for movement awareness, which makes them ideal pilots for observation, description, analysis, and interpretation.

This paper takes the position of plurality and ‘between-ness’ in designing, to sharpen our perception for things that emerge in-between that cannot be grasped and thus, falls outside of consciousness. Attuning to this presence is important because designing is an exploration and articulation of concerns and understanding among people, and specifically in PD, involved in mediating socio-material relations. In order to articulate this ‘between-ness’, the paper borrows the notion of Ma in Japanese philosophy to attune into a way of sensing the relational, processual and atmospheric. This notion is shared with the design community as a way to situate that we are, more often than not, working and designing ‘between-ness’.

Refletindo sobre uma sensação de leveza e dilatação da passagem temporal, a pesquisa elabora a expressão “tempo suspenso” e analisa de que maneira essa singular percepção pode ser transmutada em códices. Para sua compreensão, dialoga sobretudo com duas produções artísticas: Em busca do tempo perdido (1908–1922), de Marcel Proust, e A última tempestade (1991), de Peter Greenaway. A primeira foi escolhida por discutir uma sensação como estopim para a elaboração de uma poética. A segunda, por colocar o códice artesanal como receptáculo de um assunto. O campo formado pelas duas referências aglutina a temática levantada e representa princípios geradores e norteadores no desenvolvimento de uma sintaxe visual composta de referências históricas e formais da estrutura do códice. Ademais, para a compreensão da dilatação do tempo foram analisadas obras clássicas japonesas onde se encontram características próprias dos termos wabi-sabi e ma. Elas são a representação estética de um método no qual a práxis poética é um momento decisivo na estruturação do objeto final. A partir dos diálogos estabelecidos, foram realizados sete livros de artista, chamados de códices, cada um apresentado separadamente em capítulos formados por registros fotográficos e textos contextualizadores dos assuntos elaborados.

Reflecting upon a soft and expanding sense of the passage of time, this research elaborates the term “suspended time”, analyzing how this singular perception is possibly transformed into codex art. It dialogues mainly with two artistic works for further comprehension: Marcel Proust’s In Search of Lost Time (1908-1922) and Peter Greenway’s Prospero’s Book (1991). The first one has been chosen for debating a sensation as the trigger for the elaboration of poetics. The second one for setting the handicraft codex as receptacle of a subject. The field formed by both works ties together the presented topic and represents the generative and guiding principles of a visual syntax made up of formal and historical references from the codex structure. Furthermore, in order to comprehend the expansion of time, classical Japanese works in which specific characteristics of the terms wabi-sabi and ma appear, have been analyzed. They are the aesthetic representation of a method in which the poetic praxis has a major role in the final object construction. Seven artists’ books named codex have been created out of the established discussion, each one is presented separately in chapters formed by photographic records and guiding texts about the formulated topics.

How do we ready ourselves to intervene responsively in the contingent situations that arise in co-designing to make change? How do we attune to group dynamics and respond ethically to unpredictable developments when working with 'community'? This paper challenges co-design conventions that focus too tightly on formal process by addressing what happens at the moment when we step into situations to alter them with others. This is intrinsically relational and we expose the politics of practice that cannot be replicated or interchanged. Instead, we suggest that practices of readying are constituted by personal histories, experiences, philosophies and cultures and demonstrate this by giving reflexive accounts of our dimensions of preparation. We have organised these accounts around the qualities of punctuation and poise as a way to draw out some less easily articulated aspects of co-design practice. These narratives are distinct, yet reveal complementary theories and worldviews that shape ontologies and, in turn, shape the experience-and politics-of collaboration.

The monoamine oxidase A (MAOA) is involved in the degradation of various biogenic amines which have been hypothesized to have a relationship with personality traits. In literatures, however, inconsistent results appeared in a number of case-control studies using the functional MAOA-uVNTR marker. We aimed to further look into the uVNTR polymorphism among the Asian population and to preliminarily investigate its transcriptional function. Gene fusion and transfection experiments have been manipulated for the uVNTR in transfected human cervical carcinoma and neuroblastoma cell lines. For luciferase activity assay, the pGL3-Enhancer construct carrying the allele of 4 tandem repeats was chosen for protoconstruct. Comprehensive structural analyses were performed for N-o-, N-m-, and N-p-nitrophenyl-2,3,4-tri-O-acetyl-β-d-xylopyranosylamines. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data were collected and revealed that one compound under investigation undergoes temperature-dependent polymorph transitions (crystal structures of three polymorphs were obtained). The number of molecules in the independent part of the crystal unit cells was in agreement with the number of resonances in solid-state 13C NMR spectra.

In this paper we continue arguing that persistence is a fundamental requirement to support the development of next-generation agent-based applications. After a general overview of mobility and persistence to clarify the main issues discussed in the paper, we propose a tentative list of facilities that should be supported by persistent mobile agent systems. The main contribution of the paper is a survey of existing persistent and mobile agent systems that includes a comparison based on how well (or badly) they support the proposed list of facilities.

Network management comprises of monitoring and control of a network. Ideally a network management system should be able to provide the facility of managing the network from any site and from any system and network. However the present network management systems are centralized and tied to particular systems. We introduce the unique concept of a Mobile Network Manager (MNM) to provide network administrators a system and location independent network manager which will be useful under a variety of circumstances. In order to enable the MNM mobile agents have been used. The mobile agents are furnished by the mobile agent environment MAGENTA (Mobile AGENT environment for distributed Applications) which provides autonomous, reactive, proactive and communicative mobile agents. MAGENTA has been designed and implemented to support mobile user aware applications. The mobile agents are used not only to facilitate the disconnected mode of functioning of the MNM but also to decentralize network management functionalities. The applicability and usefulness of mobile agents in implementing the functionalities of MNM has been compared with the client-server mechanism.

The Acheulean materials documented in FLK West dated c. 1.7 Ma. are the focus of the present work. An original techno-functional approach is applied here to analyze the origin of Acheulean tools. According to the results, these tools were employed in different functional contexts in which tasks of different durations that transformed resources with different resistances were carried out. The exploitation of large and resistant resources suggests that the economic mechanism governing the manufacture of these tools was an increase in the demand of the work load. The decision processes underlying the production of these tools have thus an evident functional motivation. However, the presence of a refined handaxe in the studied sample indicates that the design form and production principles of handaxe manufacture were the result of an abrupt emergence rather than a long gradual development. The curriculum is conceived as a three-dimensional, aesthetic artefact that elicits sensory responses and judgements about meaning that can impact learning. Space is conceived in terms of three dimensions that may either be produced or foreclosed by curricular structures and content: autonomy space, reflective space and cognitive space. Together, these spaces enable imaginative space, which is important for innovative and creative thinking. The Japanese concept of ma is proposed as a fruitful way of thinking about space in curricula not as a wasteful, inefficient or mere void to be filled but as the element that enables learning to result from exposing students to structures and content.
