Maintenance Management

This study describes a framework to support the choice of the maintenance service (in-house or third party contract) for each category of medical equipment based on: a) the real medical equipment maintenance management system currently used by the biomedical engineering group of the public health system of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas located in Brazil to control the medical equipment maintenance service, b) the Activity Based Costing (ABC) method, and c) the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Results show the cost and performance related to each type of maintenance service. Decision-makers can use these results to evaluate possible strategies for the categories of equipment.

Management of maintenance systems in the mining industry is an important condition for their operation. If we recognize the need for risk analysis and management of individual maintenance system, it can generate potential overall efficiency and effectiveness. Special importance for the realization of the objectives of the mining industry belongs to redesign, system harmonization between the various technical structure, standardization, technical diagnostics, analysis of different levels of criticality with variant selection and application of optimal solutions. Question rational configuration of analytical and methodological approach to risk management is becoming more topical. The potential for the destruction of the complex maintenance systems are a reality in the mining industry and their expression in various applications is a realistic and often.
For different aspects of the analysis it is possible to decrease risk index range from the threshold to the range of high and low threshold of moderate and acceptable risk. Application of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis) methods are used to manage risk related to the initial phase of defining the prediction of all possible risks, risk factors and RPN budget priorities. Some risks can be grouped according to the type of errors that occur due to their realization. For effective risk analysis and implement measures to reduce their need is and competent team. No matter what the risks involved, FMECA method can reliably estimate the possibility of their implementation with a satisfactory degree of flexibility and compatibility.

Although, extensive data base and knowledge pool are available regarding maintenance, its methodology and concerned feedback mechanism, but no suitable or custom built maintenance system is yet available for risk analysis of mining excavators. Research and Development of a custom built analysis system is the need of the day because of large capital, productivity and risk involved with the mining excavators in a high capital intensive industrial scenario with acute sensitivity in the performance of such machines.

In this paper an attempt has been made to develop an effective maintenance methodology of bucket wheel excavator such that the maintenance cost is minimized and technical constraints (such as engine, hydraulic and transmission system, break system, electrical and safety system, suspension and track) are efficiently monitored and maintained. These technical constraints depends upon many factors such as  a) Geotechnical parameters, b) Geological parameters, c) Mine parameters, d) Production rate, e) Equipment specification and  f) Dig ability assessment etc.  Based on the above factors maintenance plans are prepared.

This paper discusses a risk management strategy system for Optimal Maintenance Program (OMP) of bucket wheel excavators. The OMP includes functional analysis method of FMEA and FMECA. To develop a successful operation system, it is first necessary to create a risk management program. Cement Mill 4Z2 (dia. 4.6 m x 12 m) mempunyai dua chamber dan memproduksi semen tipe OPC dan PCC dengan sistem closed circuit menggunakan roller press. Pada tahun 2019 Cement Mill 4Z2 hanya mampu berproduksi rata-rata 90 – 100 Tph dari target produksi yang harusnya 120 Tph. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendapatkan rekomendasi terhadap perbaikan kinerja cement mill 4Z2 baik dari sisi kapasitas ataupun kualitas. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan  Level B Audit Ball Mill System yang melihat secara sistem terintegrasi (kondisi alat, operasional, perbandingan standar) proses penggilingan di cement mill. Dari hasi penelitian ditemukan keausan yang sangat tinggi pada internal part cement mill seperti keauasan inlet feed system, liner, diaphragm, serta ukuran grinding media yang tidak sesuai standar. Pada saat operasional juga ditemukan adanya back spillage pada inlet mill sehingga feeding tidak bisa dinaikkan. Berdasarkan ball mill inspection procedure dan audit ball mill system ditemukan permasalahan mendasar pada cement mill 4Z2 antara lain, keausan liner melebihi standar layak operasi (Hi< 50% Ho), diaphragm aus dan merenggang sehingga menyebabkan grinding media chamber I pindah ke chamber II, ditemukannya material kasar di bawah separator yang mengindikasikan adanya masalah pada diaphragm outlet dan atau separator, hasil crash stop menunjukan perlunya ada rekomposisi grinding media dalam mill, serta permasalahan pada sistem mill ventilation. Untuk itu perlu segera dilakukan penggantian internal part mill tersebut dan khususnya penggantian tipe diaphragm dengan tipe slotted diaphragm. Selain itu perlu peningkatan kompetensi operator serta tim pemeliharaan dengan sertifikasi sesuai SKKNI produksi semen dan perlunya audit mill system secara berkala.

The purpose of this study is to examine the nature of performance measures utilized by the maintenance function in today’s business organizations. In the process, the increasing variety and significance of these measures are addressed from operational and strategic perspectives. A survey-based research method was utilized to gather the research data.  Several statistical procedures were utilized to analyse the data. The findings of this study point to the multifaceted nature of the maintenance measures and measurement. Multiple categories of maintenance measures were identified. These categories varied from the machine-specific, to measures impacting organizational performance. The relative lack of emphasis placed on the environment and strategic facets of maintenance is noted. The findings of this study have direct implications to organizations, which are attempting to measure the effectiveness of their maintenance efforts. The need to align the maintenance performance efforts with the organizational strategic direction is emphasized.  In this context, the integration of the maintenance performance information systems with the overall organizational performance management information system might facilitate the needed alignment.  This study utilizes 120 maintenance measures. As such, it represents a comprehensive view of the maintenance effort.

RESUMEN: El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo brindar una propuesta de Implementación de un Sistema de Gestión OHSAS 18001:2007 para reducir los factores de riesgos en la empresa Electro Industrial SAND E.I.R.L. Esta propuesta de implementación se desarrolla a través de cuatro capítulos, de la siguiente manera. En el primer capítulo se describe la realidad problemática que presenta la empresa, a partir de la cual se formulan los objetivos de la investigación. Asimismo, se justifica sobre la necesidad de implementar un Sistema de Gestión de la Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, bajo la norma OHSAS 18001:2007 y qué procedimientos realizar. En el segundo capítulo se recopilan los antecedentes relacionados al trabajo de investigación que servirán de apoyo para su desarrollo. Luego, se expondrá el marco teórico necesario para el desarrollo de los objetivos. En el tercer capítulo se despliega toda la información de la empresa: su organización, descripción y el servicio que brinda. Además, se desarrollan los objetivos formulados, aplicando herramientas de gestión de seguridad y salud en trabajo y de control estadístico. Las actividades desarrolladas se centran en la evaluación de la situación actual de la empresa, la evaluación de los indicadores de seguridad y salud en el trabajo, la propuesta de implementación de un Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo y el análisis costo beneficio de esta implementación. Por último, en el cuarto capítulo, Se presentan los resultados donde se evidencia el comportamiento de los indicadores antes y después del plan de implementación del Sistema de Gestión de SST, de acuerdo a la norma OHSAS 18001:2007. En base a estos resultados obtenidos, se exponen las conclusiones y se dan las recomendaciones de la investigación. ABSTRACT: The objective of this research work is to provide a proposal for the Implementation of an OHSAS 18001: 2007 Management System to reduce the risk factors in the company Electro Industrial SAND E.I.R.L. This implementation proposal is developed through four chapters, as follows. The first chapter describes the problematic reality presented by the company, from which the objectives of the research are formulated. Likewise, it is justified on the need to implement a Safety and Health Management System at Work, under the OHSAS 18001: 2007 standard and what procedures to carry out. In the second chapter, the background related to the research work that will support their development is collected. Then, the theoretical framework necessary for the development of the objectives will be exposed. In the third chapter, all the information of the company is displayed: its organization, description and the service it provides. In addition, the formulated objectives are developed, applying safety and health management tools in work and statistical control. The activities developed focus on the evaluation of the current situation of the company, the evaluation of safety and health indicators at work, the proposal for the implementation of a Safety and Health Management System at Work and the cost-benefit analysis of this implementation. Finally, in the fourth chapter, the results are presented where the behavior of the indicators before and after the implementation plan of the OSH Management System is demonstrated, in accordance with the OHSAS 18001: 2007 standard. Based on these results, the conclusions are presented and the research recommendations are given. The effective maintenance management of medical technology influences the quality of care delivered and the profitability of healthcare facilities. Medical equipment maintenance in Jordan lacks an objective prioritization system; consequently, the system is not sensitive to the impact of equipment downtime on patient morbidity and mortality. The current work presents a novel software system (EQUIMEDCOMP) that is designed to achieve valuable improvements in the maintenance management of medical technology. This work-order prioritization model sorts medical maintenance requests by calculating a priority index for each request. Model performance was assessed by utilizing maintenance requests from several Jordanian hospitals. The system proved highly efficient in minimizing equipment downtime based on healthcare delivery capacity, and, consequently, patient outcome. Additionally, a preventive maintenance optimization module and an equipment quality control system are incorporated. The system is, therefore, expected to improve the reliability of medical equipment and significantly improve safety and cost-efficiency.
