Gabriel Fauré fue uno de los compositores más destacados de su tiempo. Así lo describieron sus más allegados. Pero el hecho de componer aislado de la vanguardia y no dotando a su música de una intención revolucionaria, y con una técnica musical, que no era del gusto de todos, hizo que su figura pasara de largo en otras partes de Europa. Sin embargo, en París, llegó a ser uno de los compositores más importantes de finales del siglo XIX, dejando tras su muerte, grandes aportaciones a la música francesa. Una música francesa, que había renacido para imponerse frente a las otras dos corrientes imperantes: Italia y Alemania. Este trabajo pretende situar a Gabriel Fauré en el contexto histórico y así definir su importancia en la historia de la música occidental.

Gabriel Fauré was one of the most well- known composers of his time. He was described this way by his friends. The fact of composing out the vanguard and not giving his music a revolutionary intention, made his figure passed over in other Europe countries. However, in Paris, he became one of the most important composers at the end of the 19th century, leaving after his death, great contributions to French music. A French music had been reborn to prevail, leading the other two important trends: Italy and Germany. This work pretends to place Gabriel Fauré in the history context and define his value in the Western Music History.

The aim of this article is to interpret songs by Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and a less‑known composer — Irena Wieniawska (1879−1932), based on the same poems by Paul Verlaine. In the first part of this paper, the relationships between Wieniawska, Fauré, Debussy, Ravel and Verlaine are subsequently described. Then, the author makes a comparison between selected songs by French composers and Madame Poldowski, indicating main similarities and differences. The final part consists of some remarks related to the fact that Wieniawska fulfills features of the French mélodie very strictly. This is why her songs seem to be more traditional, not as allusive and sophisticated as Debussy's or Ravel's vocal works.

Sastra lisan bagi masyarakat adat Lampung merupakan bagian penting sebagai simbol budaya. Oleh karena itu,keberadaannya perlu dilestarikan dengan pelbagai upaya, termasuk melalui pendidikan. Di tengah kemajuan teknologi dan perubahan iklim sosial yang semakin bebas, keberadaan sastra seperti menunggu‘bom waktu’ karena tergerus oleh budaya global. Pisaan sebagai salah satu bentuk sastra lisan Lampung semakin jarang ditemui karena kurangnya upaya-upaya pelestarian, fungsi media media,serta kemampuan untuk mengajarkan mewariskannya melalui pengajaran yang baik. Di lingkungan sekolah para guru perlu untuk mempelajari Pisaan dan mengetahui metodologi pengajarannya. Tujuannya agar mereka menjadi agen pendidikan dalam mempertahankan tradisi lisan Lampung. Kenyataannya tidak banyak guru-guru yang menguasai sastra lisan (termasuk Pisaan). Kalaupun ada yang mampu melantunkan, tetapi umumnya tidak banyak yang bisa menularkan kemampuannya. Jika kondisi ini dibiarkan, maka keberadaan Pisaan dan sastra lisan Lampung akan mengalami kepunahan. Pada konteks itulah mengapa buku ajar ini hadir untuk menjawab persoalan-persoalan di atas. Penulis 1 buku ini adalah dosen sekaligus Ketua Program Studi Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Lampung di lingkungan FKIP Universitas Lampung. Bidang keahlian yang dikuasai meliputi kajian linguistik, budaya, dan sastra daerah. Penulis 2 adalah seorang dosen pendidikan musik di lingkungan FKIP Universitas Lampung. Keduanya aktif meneliti budaya Lampung dengan kesadaran bahwa kajian budaya dapat direfleksikan dalam berbagai ilmu terapan, termasuk sastra lisan. Melalui perpaduan kedua disiplin ilmu-linguistik dan musikdiharapkan mampu memperkaya kajian sastra lisan Lampung, khususnya pada bidang metode pembelajaran Pisaan. Penulis berharap buku ini dapat dikonsumsi oleh banyak kalangan pembaca. Buku ini disusun untuk para guru dan calon guru yang pengajarannya berkaitan dengan sastra lisan, khususnya Pisaan. Buku ini memberikan pengalaman belajar Pisaan secara musikal. Di dalam Pisaan terdapat melodi yang merupakan unsur penting dalam musik. Melalui pendekatan belajar secara musikal, Pisaan tidak hanya dipelajari secara teks. Tetapi juga dipelajari dari aspek musikal yang melengkapi estetika penyajiannya. Materi dalam buku ini berasal dari data-data penelitian awal yang dilakukan pada tahun 2017-2018. Data berupa rekaman yang didapat dari para pelantun Pisaan perempuan yang berasal dari etnis Pepadun. Melalui data tersebut penulis melakukan penelitian dan mulai mengembangkan metode musikal untuk pembelajaran Pisaan. Selain itu, data didapat berdasarkan buku dan pengalaman penulis 1 yang juga merupakan seorang budayawan Lampung. Istilah dan tata bahasa yang digunakan dalam buku lebih banyak menggunakan istilah-istilah musik. Penulis berusaha menyederhanakannya agar mudah dipahami. Untuk pembaca yang belum terlalu akrab dengan istilah-istilah di dalamnya akan disedikan keterangan. Buku ini terdiri dari lima bab, diantaranya: (1) sastra lisan Lampung; (2) model pembelajaran Pisaan; (3) menentukan teks dan notasi; (4) tonalitas; dan (5) latihan Pisaan. Materimateri yang disusun dalam bab-bab tersebut mengulas tentang pendekatan musik untuk menganalisis dan mengajarkan Pisaan. Pada akhirnya penulis menyadari bahwa buku ini masih memiliki banyak kekurangan. Oleh karena penulis terbuka untuk menerima kritik dan saran untuk menyempurnakan materi yang ada di dalamnya. Semoga buku ini dapat memberikan pengetahuan baru bagi para pembacanya. Selain itu menjadi catatan amal bagi penulis dan tercatat sebagai bentuk ibadah kepada Allah SWT.

Music composition with algorithms inspired by nature has led to the creation of systems that compose music with rich characteristics. Nevertheless, the complexity imposed by unsupervised algorithms may arguably be considered as undesired, especially when considering the composition of rhythms. This work examines the composition of rhythms through L and Finite L–systems (FL–systems) and presents an interpretation from grammatical to rhythmic entities that expresses the repetitiveness and diversity of the output of these systems. Furthermore, we utilize a supervised train- ing scheme that uses Genetic Algorithms (GA) to evolve the rules of L and FL–systems, so that they may compose rhythms with certain characteristics. Simple rhythmic in- dicators are introduced that describe the density, pauses, self similarity, symmetry and syncopation of rhythms. With fitness evaluations based on these indicators we assess the performance of L and FL–systems and present results that indicate the superiority of the FL–system in terms of adapt- ability to certain rhythmic tasks.

The composition of Chansons de Bilitis by French composers in the first decades of 20th century implied a direct confrontation with Debussy’s cycle, published in 1899. Concert reviews of the 1920s-30s—when the canonization of Debussy was at its high—offer interesting material for studying the discourse about the composers who created their own Chansons de Bilitis. Reviews often cite Debussy’s cycle—which was performed constantly—as a reference. Composers could not write their own Bilitis without considering Debussy’s. Therefore, the study of the new Chansons brings up relevant questions about the composers’ attitude towards Debussy’s work: Are more recent Bilitis an explicit homage to Debussy? Are they influenced by the master’s work in a more implicit way? Or do they definitely take a distance from their illustrious predecessor? Two authors in particular are the object of the present comparative study: Charles Koechlin and Georges Dandelot. This analysis focuses on their text choice, dramaturgy and compositional technique. Koechlin’s mélodies are very far from Debussy’s imagined Greece, while Dandelot toggles between the imitation of Debussy style and the decontextualized appropriation of some of its distinctive features. The comparison between the Chansons de Bilitis by Debussy and by other composers is relevant about the compositional reception of Debussy. Moreover, some stylistic and aesthetic specificities of Debussy’s cycle emerge from the comparative analysis.
