The area of study in the history of marketing interested in 2 fields: 1. Marketing thought and 2. Marketing practice, that we surely found a few study by Thai marketing researchers in this fields. So this research starts uses a qualitative methodology by documentary research for study about the history of marketing especially, the Buddhist Commercialism in Siam/Thai context and focusing on the formation of the Buddhist Commercialism explanation that aims to developing the area of study in further. The result shows the Marketing as the influences factor that transforms Buddhist objects to the products has first evidences in the early Rattanakosin period in the Marketing Governance strategies, but the Buddhist Commercialism marketing probably first traces in World War II by we found the demand of Buddhist Commercialism products. Moreover, we found the story-telling for convince the customers' faith and support their sale.

This article studies the development of territorial administration act and the responsibilities of the Siamese civil servants between 1897-1933. The objectives of this study were: 1) Thesaphiban countries administrative management, and 2) the local administration of district chief, subdistrict headman, and village headman. The concept of the article is the dynamics of territorial administration laws that there analyzed from a historical perspective. The article carried out a series of primary and secondary sources along with historical research. The results of the study show that the Siamese government changed the status of rulers in the traditional government structure to civil servants by defining duties and responsibilities in the law. It has resulted in local bureaucrats acting as intermediaries linking the government to the people. In addition, local bureaucrats are the base of the administrative structure that is important to support the administrative structure of the locality and county government. This study brings about to understanding of the development of Siamese civil servants’ responsibilities and the relationship between state power and local bureaucrats.

This article examines how the British Foreign Office worked hand-in-hand with the Bombay Burma Trading Corporation, the Bangkok Monarchy, and British foresters to create and secure an informal empire over the teak forests in northern Siam, thus securing British profits, putting a Briton in charge of the Forestry Department, and keeping the French from encroaching on Burma and India. The Bangkok elite also profited by this process and gained legal and administrative control over the northern regions of Siam.

"This book offers annotated translations of documents touching on Dutch admiral Cornelis Matelieff de Jonge and his voyage to Asia between 1605 and 1608. These translations are aimed at a contemporary English-speaking Asian readership interested in the early modern history of European trade, warfare and expansion in Southeast Asia with a focus on Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Researchers specialising in early European colonialism, international law, international relations, security studies, and diplomatic history will also find that the documents translated in this volume offer new and unfamiliar perspectives. Materlieff’s business acumen, military and diplomataic prowess as well as his vision of empire all have implications for examining not only European expansion into Southeast Asia, but also into other regions at large, including especially south Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Admiral Matelieff was a director of the Rotterdam Chamber of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) formed in 1602. He was appointed fleet commander on one of the company’s first voyages to Asia. Matelieff’s mission was both commercial and military: he launched a major sea-borne attack on the Portuguese colony of Melaka, arranged for the signing of treaties with the rulers of Johor, Aceh and Ternate, and founded the first Dutch fort on the island of Ternate. His endeavours, however, to open the Chinese market for the Dutch company proved unsuccessful.
Following his return to the Dutch Republic in September 1608, Matelieff penned a series of memorials and letters. In these he advanced recommendations for changing the way the company organized its fleets and conducted business. More importantly he offered  his Dutch contemporaries a vision of empire in Asia. The materials contained in this volume offer important observations of a perceptive analyst who was also determined to grasp the political and economic structures of Asia, and also of inter-state relations in across this vast region. At a time of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, French and English engagement in Southeast Asia, Matelieff sought to critically assess and strategize on the ways in which Europeans were increasingly engaging with Asian polities and their rulers.

Interrelated holy men millenarian movements destabilized southern Laos and North East Siam (Isan) at the turn of the twentieth century. In contrast to those who have interpreted these uprisings as purely anti-state, the author presents evidence to suggest that Champassak royals played crucial roles in supporting the revolts, even to the extent of masterminding rebellions against both the French and the Siamese in order to enhance their own power. The findings of this research illustrate the varying power structures that existed within lowland states in mainland South East Asia at the beginning of the twentieth century, a point that has implications with regard to James Scott’s (2009) arguments in The Art of Not Being Governed: An Anarchist History of Upland Southeast Asia.

After the success of their directorial debut Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life (USA 1925), the American directors Ernest B. Schoedsack and Merian C. Cooper ventured to Nan province in Siam to shoot Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness. A hybrid of drama, documentary and ethnographic study, Chang was critically well received and a box-office triumph. As the first full-length Hollywood film made in Siam, it holds a special place in film history. Getting wild animals such as tigers, leopards, elephants, and monkeys very close in front of the camera, Chang took wildlife photography to a new level and won an Oscar for “Unique and Artistic Production”. Nevertheless, Chang has been studied too little because Schoedsack and Cooper’s now iconic King Kong (USA 1933) has garnered the main share of academic attention. This paper seeks to locate Chang in the history of Western photography and filmmaking activity in Siam in order to appreciate its representation of the nation. The paper’s second objective is to deconstruct Schoedsack and Cooper’s deliberate crossing of genres and staging of events to make them look authentic. An investigation into audience expectations, Chang’s narrative structure, the role of intertitles, as well as the portrayal of the jungle, the natives, and wild animals help in reaching these goals.
