Site Quality

This study examines whether some types of dispositional trust/distrust concepts are better than other types at inducing consumers to trust a Web advice provider. We propose and test a model in which dispositional trust and distrust concepts are given separate roles. This unique approach is based on the growing, but untested theoretical consensus that trust and distrust are separate concepts that co-exist yet differ in terms of their emotional makeup. While trust concepts tend to be calm and collected, distrust concepts embody significant levels of fear and insecurity. Based on this difference, we propose that dispositional distrust concepts will be better predictors of high-risk Internet legal advice site perceptions, while the corresponding trust concepts will be better predictors of low-risk Internet legal advice site perceptions. As proposed, the study finds that dispositional trust better predicts low-risk perceptions, while dispositional distrust better predicts high-risk perceptions. For e-commerce advice site research, the findings of this article suggest that perhaps scholars should not only study dispositional trust but also dispositional distrust.

En el presente estudio se analizan y evalúan
62 sitios web de bibliotecas universitarias de Argentina,
con el objeto de elaborar una serie de indicadores de calidad
que proporcionen un marco referencial para las actuales
experiencias y futuros desarrollos. Se analiza el
grado de desarrollo, uso y explotación que en la actualidad
han alcanzado los sitios web, para lo cual se identifican
45 indicadores de calidad que fueron aplicados en
la observación directa de cada uno, tal como se presentan
a los usuarios finales por internet. Los resultados obtenidos
muestran cómo los sitios web de las bibliotecas
universitarias argentinas se encuentran en una fase inicial
de su desarrollo y en una incipiente incorporación
de las modernas tecnologías de la información, identificándose
las fortalezas y debilidades existentes en cuanto
a la calidad de los mismos

Abstract: In the present study 62 web sites of university libraries in Argentina are analyzed and evaluated, with the objective of establishing a series of
quality indicators to serve as a reference for present experiences and future developments.
The degree of development, the use and the usability of the web sites were analysed based on 45 indicators of quality which were applied in direct observation
of each site as it appears to end users accessing it by internet. The results obtained show that the web sites of the Argentine university libraries
are in an initial phase of development and have only just begun to incorporate modern information technologies. Existing strengths and weaknesses
related to the quality of the webs are discussed.

Abstract:-The growing importance of tourism industry in world economy reflects on tourism growing importance in Croatian economy as well. Tourism industry represents one of the areas in which Internet technology has a significant influence changing some of the key industry premises. Hotel website offers new opportunities for hoteliers. But it is essential to hoteliers to evaluate their web presence and to compare their quality with competition in the marketplace. Building evaluation framework and procedure for this purpose is not simple task. This paper presents one possible framework for hotel website evaluation performed to evaluate the Web sites of Croatian high class hotels and their content. Irano-Turanian phytogeographical region includes the central, east and southeast Anatolian geographical divisions of Turkey. The region is characterized by a continental type of climate with very cold winters and hot summers. Precipitation in the form of a heavy snowfall is seen usually in winter and rains are common in spring and autumn. However, the southeast experiences a steppe climate with very hot summers, severe aridity and evaporation. The area of saline and degraded soils in the region is increasing. The factors responsible for this are over-irrigation practices, and salt accumulation due to evaporation. In the region, 137 halophytic taxa belonging to 88 genera and 34 families are found. The genera Salsola, Chenopodium, Limonium, Alhagi and Allium include the highest number of taxa. Phytogeographically 80.29% of these taxa are Irano-Turanian and 13.14% are common. The number of endemic taxa is around 42. For a management of the saline-alkaline habitats sound information on plant diversity, vegetation cover, habitat types, and locations of species communities is needed, together with land cover maps, to follow the habitat deterioration and its causes. The present study will thus help in the determination of site quality.

There are many reasons to evaluate a Web site's quality. The growth of e-commerce, for example, has made a company's success more dependent on the quality of its Web site, whether its goal is commerce or content presentation. We developed the 2QCV3Q model to help site owners and developers evaluate Web site quality and incorporate these findings into site design. Starting with the assumption that a Web site is a hypermedia system primarily concerned with communication, we used classical rhetoric to create this model.

Pinus brutia Ten. subspecies brutia, which occurs in the Eastern Mediterranean region, is the main forest species in Syria and important for multi-purpose forestry. In this study, 6,631 10-year past growth diameter increment measurements were taken in 83 temporary sample plots. The current breast height diameter of all trees was measured and a sample of trees was measured for height and age. The plots were placed so as to capture the whole range of variation in site quality, stand age and stand density. The data were used to develop the following models: Dominant height model: the guide curve method was used to fit an anamorphic site index model between stand age and dominant height. Individual-tree diameter increment model: future 10-year diameter increment was modelled as a function of site index, stand basal area, basal area of trees larger than the subject tree, slope, aspect and diameter at breast height (dbh). Tree height model: tree height was modelled as a function of dbh, dominant height and dominant diameter. Self-thinning: the plots which have reached the self-thinning limit were selected and the (maximum) number of trees per hectare was modelled as a function of mean diameter and site index. The set of models enables the simulation of forest stand dynamics on an individual-tree basis.

Leaf area density is a biologically appealing index of forest tree health because it can provide an assessment of foliage loss or retention; however, it is difficult to measure directly. In contrast, the ratio of crown length to sapwood area (CL:SA) is quite amenable to objective field measurement, and could be interpreted as an index of crown sparseness. CL:SA was computed for Douglas-fir trees from 70 plots covering a range in average size, stand density, site quality, and crown condition in the Oregon Coast Range. When expressed as cm:cm 2 , the index ranged from 2 to 100 for individual trees and from 2 to 11 for plot averages based on the 200 largest trees per ha. In general, individual trees with a high CL:SA had a lower relative height within the stand. The index also increased with increasing severity of needle loss on sites where Swiss needle cast (SNC) is causing premature loss of foliage.
