Currently, at the regional markets, there is a disproportion between the growing demand for transportation and logistics services and the availability of facilities needed for their implementation, which is because the high logistics costs and does not meet the strategic objectives of the country to create a common economic space. The article describes the system of market factors that have the most significant influence on the distribution of logistics facilities. Study and evaluation of potential changes in the region of logistics facility disposition are proposed to perform using simulation techniques and statistical data analysis. An increase in population generates increasing travel demand. Lagos is one of the most populated states in Nigeria and one of Africa’s megacities. An increased road length and new roads generate faster and longer trips, more trips by car and higher car ownership all of which adds up to more traffic congestion and pollution. The purpose of this study is to examine the perception and preference of commuters towards the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Lagos State. This is carried out to identify how commuters perceive and value the BRT system and its attribute in view of providing affordable, quality and accessible service.
BRT-lite is now carrying almost 200,000 people per day despite a capacity that does not allow it to satisfy all forecast demand. After 100days the system had carried 4.7 million passengers and within its first 6 months of operation had carried a total of 29 million.
The BRT lite in Lagos State consists of a 22km route that is 65% physically segregrated and 20% separated by road and markings but its success is not purely down to its infrastructure but a holistic approach that involved re-organisation of the bus industry, financing of new bus purchase, creating a new institutional structure and regulatory framework to support it, together with the training of personnel to drive, maintain enforce and manage BRT (LAMATA, 2009).

The study concludes that the introduction of BRT is the first step towards integrated transport and development in the city of Lagos. Further steps are necessary to: increase the number of BRT bus stops; to regulate and improve the service deliveries of other modes of transport for effective interdependence between the BRT and other modes.

This study aims to determine the effect of physical distribution service quality (PDSQ) and brand image on customer satisfaction of PT. XYZ Indonesia, which is one of leading logistics limited liability company (Ltd) in Indonesia that implements an integrated end-to-end supply chain management and as a partner to some of the largest multinational companies in the world. Survey methods are used to collect primary data. Census technique was chosen to determine 30 customers of PT. XYZ Indonesia and all questionnaires were returned and sent for analysis by multiple regression analysis to explain customer satisfaction. The results showed that the physical distribution service quality and brand image had a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction. Which is physical distribution service quality had a more dominant influence on customer satisfaction.

Traffic congestions experienced in Lagos State daily have culminated into delayed and unpredictable travel times, excessive loss of energy, and loss of veritable man hour. This of course is the resultant effect of the state’s over reliance on the road for conveying its ever growing population. However, for a mega city like Lagos and owing to the fact that about 30% of the state is been accounted for by water bodies, the need to fully harness the potentials of water transportation to serve as a complement and alternative mode to road has become more compelling.  The study made use of the primary source of data which was collected using a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire was administered on a randomly selected sample of 250 water transport users in Lagos State. Of the 250 questionnaires administered, 211 questionnaires were received for analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Secondary data was also sourced to serve as complement to the primary data, thus allowing for a robust research. Reviewed were requisite theories and concepts, past works of various scholars, textbooks, journals and data collected from relevant government agencies. Descriptive statistical tools such as percentages were adopted to present the socio - economic characteristics of users and the Spearman’s Ranked Correlation Analysis was used to explain the relationship between frequency of travel, education and income of respondents.

Findings showed that the about 65% of sampled population are male, 48.35 % are degree holders, 34% of respondents are young within the 26 – 34 yrs age bracket, 34% married and 59%  of sample are self employed. Also, that majority of the respondents (58%) are daily users and about 50% of the respondents observed that water transportation service in the state is either bad / very bad. The result also showed that a number of factors were identified as been responsible for low water transport commuting in the state and they include poor water infrastructure,( ) weak policy formulations( ), safety and security issues( ), exorbitant fares( ), inaccessibility and unavailability() amongst others.  Further analysis revealed that there exist an insignificant relationship between frequency of travel, education and income of respondents.
Public Private Partnerships (PPP) initiatives such as Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) etc so as to encourage investors to develop water infrastructure. It is also recommended that there is the need to conduct research, develop operational techniques and promote the use of technology to ensure safe and efficient deployment of water transportation system

The use of petroleum transportation fuels continues to rise partly because the growth of motor vehicles are very fast and has not been controlled. The main problem is how to effectively management of fuel usage. The method used is descriptive evaluative, and conduct public policy analysis to propose measures to be implemented. Assessment purposes to formulate recommendations increased the management of road transport fuel usage. The benefit is reducing the use of road transport fuel is depleting its reserves without reducing transportation services. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif evaluatif, dan melakukan analisis kebijakan publik untuk mengajukan langkah yang perlu ditempuh.

A linear programming model for integrated production planning study for methods, procedures and practices of a South African bread producing firm. The study considers the entire planning activity in the firm as an integrated process involving several closely related functions. The mathematical modelling considers production costs, production throughput rates, customer specifications and demands, sales process and facility capacities and designs an optimal production planning. The firm produces two perishable products that should be stored for fixed periods. There is a series a of vehicles responsible for delivering the products from the firm to distribution centers in specific quantities. Computation of results and analysis reveals that the integrated methodology is feasible and practical.

We consider the problem of how to select an investment project according to a two-criterion technique and illustrate this issue by the transportation-and- logistic center project for the Novosibirsk Oblast. We also analyze how regular the investments are made and show the minimal discounted costs and an algorithm and the mechanism to select Parettos optimal investments.

In this study reinvesting the impact of selected supply chain drivers on business performance of marine export companies is investigated. It has been noticed there is huge gap in demand and supply of seafood throughout the Pakistan’s coastal areas. Primary data gathered via previous studies questionnaire was adopted and marine export firm employees were requested to fill the questionnaire face to face. Initially, 190 questionnaires were given to export companies employees but, in end of survey after data cleaning 150 questionnaire were used for the obtaining the research objectives of this study. Many statistical tests were used for the analysis of data such as exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and Data was analyzed in SPSS and structural equation modelling in SPSS and AMOS software. Results, of this study confirmed the partial mediation effect of information sharing between facilities and transportation and logistics on business performance. Previous studies confirmed the direct impact of facilities and transportation and logistics on business performance, however in this study mediation effect of information sharing was checked. Lastly, Strata were developed for export companies in order to avoid researcher biased sampling strategy and results can be reliable.

Rail transportation that is timely and dependable can compete with the trucking mode for Just-In-Time (JIT) deliveries. SNCF, the French National Railway, has a number of such offerings that emphasize reliability of freight shipments. We describe several of these SNCF products. They have in common the nature of regularly-scheduled service: planned connections to specific trains at classifications yards. We discuss ways that SNCF can measure reliability, monitor it, and market it. Third-party logistics services of the SNCF are summarized, as is marketing research by SNCF to update their product line in goods transportation. We conclude with possibilities for future research.

Adaptation of blockchain technology in the Transport and Logistics industry may provide for not only increased transparency, trust and efficiency but also improved safety by minimising mis-declaration of cargo. There are currently a number of operators in the industry developing applications based on blockchain with may others planning to utilise the approach. As organisations commit to blockchain based projects, there will be an increased demand for blockchain developers, and associated job roles, and this paper considers the skills and knowledge requirements for those in these roles and provides a basis for determining the competence required for blockchain development.

This paper work focuses on customer satisfaction as a major outcome of marketing activity and the aim of BRT operators fulfilling the individual customer’s needs. Bus services are seen as unreliable, inconvenient and dangerous. However, there is an alternative between poor service and high municipal debt. BRT can provide high-quality, metro-like transit service at a fraction of the cost of other options. The aim of this study involves the use of SERVQUAL instrument to ascertain any actual or perceived gaps between BRT customer expectations and perceptions of the service offered. The methodology used in this study is descriptive statistics analysis from the survey conducted with the use of structured questionnaire to determine the mean of expectation and the mean of perception (BRT Service). The finding reveals satisfaction in three (3) service dimensions and dissatisfaction in two (2) service dimensions. This paper, therefore, recommends that BRT personnel should be trained on good customer service relations and also managers should improve their weak points and increase their knowledge by gaining more information about commuters’ need.

The level of congestion in Jakarta is getting higher by diverse-complex factors; one of which is caused by the unbalanced growth of vehicles volume with the length of road. This research aimsto find ways to overcome traffic through the private vehicles restriction approach based on the vehicle colors, known as color clustering or color grouping. The purpose of this paper is to (1) Determine the profile and vehicle color trends that exist in DKI Jakarta, (2) Determine the contribution of color clustering method in reducing traffic congestion in Jakarta.Data are collected through observation and interview surveys. It’s amusing to read where Elizabeth May’s organizers from the riding of Cape Breton Canso have been sending around an e-mail invitation for a free bus ride sponsored by the Green Party’s national office to transport people from the riding of Cape Breton Canso to May’s nomination meeting for the neighbouring riding of Central Nova.

The free bus ride also provides a free Mary Jane Lamond concert at the conclusion of the meeting. To me this is old-style politics at its very best and I expected more from the self-proclaimed altruistic Green Party of Canada. Are the Greens also offering free booze tickets?

To test May’s policy zeal on green issues I ask Elizabeth May if she is prepared to support and promote a ferry service from Souris, P.E.I., to Port Hood, Cape Breton, Island as an energy-efficient alternative to either replace or complement the Pictou to Wood Islands ferry located in the Central Nova riding.

This service would eliminate the redundant auto tourist traffic from Pictou to the causeway, reduce excess CO2 emissions and reduce the travel time and expenses that occur when travellers from outside the region are destined for Cape Breton and Newfoundland via P.E.I.
