Scientific workflows have recently emerged as a new paradigm for scientists to formalize and structure complex and distributed scientific processes to enable and accelerate many scientific discoveries. In contrast to business workflows, which are typically control flow oriented, scientific workflows tend to be dataflow oriented, introducing a new set of requirements for system development. These requirements demand a new architectural design for scientific workflow management systems (SWFMSs). Although several ...

This paper presents a new approach to develop the strategy of Model–View–Controller architecture pattern in Business Intelligence (BI) architecture. The Business Intelligence architecture consists of the ETL tools and processes, the data warehouse, the technical infrastructure, and the user-interface tools. The major issue related to Business Intelligence architecture is to store the data from heterogeneous sources. The heterogeneous sources might lead to inconsistencies in storage and retrieval of data. Another issue related to Business Intelligence architecture is to provide multiple and synchronized views. The Business information must be presentable in various formats with ‘look and feel ’ approach. Model-View-Controller provides independent approach to the components of Business Intelligence architecture. Model provides guideline for storing the heterogeneous data in one format and implements core functionality of the system. View provides multiple and synchronized views so tha...

This article aims to understand the essence of life coaching through the perspective of Buddhism in psychotherapy and counseling. The term “psychotherapy and Buddhist counseling” is a combination between concepts of both Buddhism and the principles of psychotherapy and counseling in Western psychology. The goal is to adjust behaviors, thinking in order to move the realm of the patients. Psychotherapy and Buddhist counseling can be conducted in 5 ways:- 1) Performing 3-steps of TIR; 2) psychotherapy based on the Four Noble Truths; 3) giving supportive, not intrusive, based on the principles of the Four Brahmavihāras; 4) using the 3 Worlds and 31 existences principle as a map for traveling; 5) Ability to avoid certain types of questions. Even though life coaching is widely popular in Thai society, and is a phenomenon in a new form of psychological counseling that all Thai people are interested in. But still it may be something new for Thai people. Some of the cases that illustrate the blemish of transparency that triggered the public's fervor of doubt on the behaviors and ambiguity of the Live Coach itself are now common in Thai society. These are valuable lessons for all professional life coaches including newcomer life coaches that will continue to occur with quality in Thai society.

The resource-based view perspective has been referred to as the theoretical foundation of studies linking the impact of corporate social performance to financial performance. Alternatively, scholars argue that the direction of the relationship could be the other way around - that financial performance facilitates the investment in corporate social performances.
We join the scholarly discussion by surveying the perception of top Japanese automotive and electronics companies. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting divisions of these companies were sent links to an on-line Likert scale questionnaire to verify the earlier statistical findings on the relationship of the variables: environmental cost, revenue, profit, assets, long-term debt and equity.
We expect our descriptive statistics to yield the predominant motivation of sustainability reporting across the companies in this study, considering that they observe similar management principles and belong to the same business environment. This case study supports earlier theorization between resource-based view and slack availability of resources while leading to proposed rival theories unique to Japanese management.

ABSTRACT Every software program that interacts with a user requires a user interface. Model-View-Controller (MVC) is a common design pattern to integrate a user interface with the application domain logic. MVC separates the representation of the application domain (Model) from the display of the application's state (View) and user interaction control (Controller). However, studying the literature reveals that a variety of other related patterns exists, which we denote with Model-View- (MV) design patterns. This paper discusses existing MV patterns classified in three main families: Model-View-Controller (MVC), Model-View-View Model (MVVM), and Model-View-Presenter (MVP). We take a practitioners' point of view and emphasize the essentials of each family as well as the differences. The study shows that the selection of patterns should take into account the use cases and quality requirements at hand, and chosen technology. We illustrate the selection of a pattern with an example of our practice. The study results aim to bring more clarity in the variety of MV design patterns and help practitioners to make better grounded decisions when selecting patterns.

This paper outlines a framework which supports the use of multiple perspectives in system development, and provides a means for developing and applying systems design methods. The framework uses "viewpoints" to partition the system specification, the development method and the formal representations used to express the system specifications. This VOSE (viewpoint-oriented systems engineering) framework can be used to support the design of heterogeneous and composite systems. We illustrate the use of the framework with a small example drawn from composite system development and give an account of prototype automated tools based on the framework.

Problems of vicinity were a subject of regulations starting from the time of classical Greece, but the most complete text relating to this question is Julian of Ascalon’s Treatise, a work written at the end of the V or during the VI century in Palestine by an architect known by the name of Julian. One of the aspects regulated by this text, as well as, in a similar way, by Roman law, was the protection of light and of view. In Roman law light was protected by a series of special servitudes: ius altius tollendi aut non tellendi, ius ne luminibus o ciator, servitus luminum and servitus luminis imittendi. An analogy to the latter is also found in the treatise. According to the above sources also the view (prospectus) was protected. In the constitutions of Roman emperors known from the Code of Justinian we nd only protection of the sea view, but Julian also regulated protection of the view on mountains, gardens and public paintings and he probably based his regulations on other unknown constitutions. A subject connected with view and light was the typology of windows. In both texts there existed a legally relevant distinction between panoramic windows and ones that served only for lighting, because the rst could be made only when certain conditions were met, and the second could be constructed only at a certain height.

The Japanese Occupation is general ly remembered as primarily an American affair and as a dichotomous relationship between Japan and the United States. However, it was an Allied Occupation, and, despite the persistence of selective historical memories, there was a distinct and at times contentious Allied presence, contribution, and experience. The Occupation provided a terrain on which the victor nations, believing their social, economic and political values vindicated by victory, competed to reshape the character of Japan’s modernity. One Ally that participated in this process, and often acted as a dissenting voice, was Australia. Examining the involvement of additional participants in the Occupation does not challenge the not ion of US dominance, but does demonstrate that others periodically played significant roles in both administering the Occupation and in challenging US policies.
