morning. We finished Unit 2 review section in our text. We read about celebrating the Eucharist at Mass each Sunday. Reading: We read the first story in our new reading text. We are reviewing long and short vowel sounds. We have added y to the list of long vowel sounds. We wrote in our journals about Valentines Day. Math: We continued to work with related addition and subtraction facts. We reviewed different strategies for solving problems. We practiced solving word problems by looking for clues in the problem that help us choose when to add or subtract.
Social Studies: We watched a video clip from
Discovery Education about Presidents Day. We read several stories about President Lincoln. We made a list of all the things we learned about him. Science: We have six large sheets of chart paper hanging in our room. Each one is covered with post-it notes filled with penguin facts. Using books and fact cards about penguins, we looked for information about these amazing birds.
Notes and Thanks
Thank you for all of the Valentines and treats. We had lots of fun sharing the cards and goodies with each other on Thursday.
